I think a new feature for the game is in order; the Digimon Hopper. It works like Pokémon’s transfer features from the past, allowing you to bring over your Digimon from Cyber Sleuth and Hackers Memory. Multiple difficulty settings and rewards for playing on hard would tie into this; playing on the hard mode allows you to import older Digimon right away.

Again, more species would be appreciated.
wouldn't transferring them over make more sense on easy than hard?

Any difficulty can transfer them over. Hard just has more difficult wild encounters and bosses to make up for the ability to transfer them over from the start. I’d also like to see some more optional post-game bosses to encounter, even without much story relevance.

Some kind of retrocompatibility would be nice. Transfering digimon from CS/HM and such.

Actual variation of scenery and a decent trip to the Digital World. EDEN's blue squares got boring fast in Cyber Sleuth.

Something that didn't click with me in both CS/HM was the whole "having to scan Digimon multiple times in order to get them". While it could have been worse (i.e a Negotiation mechanic like SMT), I still would've preferred a more simplistic gotta catch 'em all sorta thing.

Meanwhile, I was re-watching some Digimon Hunters recently and I noticed that the whole "Hunting" aspect was poorly explored (among other things) and it made me think, what if they tried to incorporate that idea into a Story game proper? Have a bunch of kids end up in the Digital World and they treat it like a game of Pokémon where they try to catch all the Digimon at first, something goes horribly wrong and they learn some life lessons and become true "Hunters" that help protect the Digital World by tracking down bad guys.

Just a little something I was mulling over, trying to better integrate story and gameplay mechanics.

I can act more modest about it but to be blunt, an Olympos XII focused plot 👀
Also, unite the entire Bancho team!

What I wouldn't mind seeing is....
1) Choose male or female character
2) A simple character creator with different faces and hairstyles and colors.
3) Clothing stores
4) All spirit Digimon available really want Fairymon.
5) Keep the adult tone of Cyber Sleuth.
6) Would like to visit the Digital World more like Sewers , Snowy mountains , Jungles , Digimon Villages and so on.
7) All Armour Digimon
8) Player choices that slightly effect missions and story rewards.
9) Some Mini games
10) When attacks hit the enemy Id actually like to see it properly not just a tiny hit spark.

What I think would be fun is a X-Antibody mechanic, where the antibody itself is a collectable item, and it can be used to side evolve a digimon to his X counterpart or during evolution. This would include an X-Eraser for the reverse effect.

A version of this could be used for the Spirits, perheaps with each element being a singular item with levels, so it could go 1->2->3 for Human->Beast->Fusion, being lv3 in the five corresponding elements for each Transcedent form and on all ten for Susanoomon. It would also allow both Ultimates forms to be used at the first Ultimate tier (unless the system supported 3 Ultimate tiers, then this could be a straight line).

Been reading up on some of the other factions involved in the Digital World and both the D-Brigade and the Crack Team both sound like they could make very interesting antagonistic groups in a Story game. Plus you've already got most of the involved Digimon in game as of Hacker's Memory so I say go for it. :)

The thing I mentioned in the other topic about having a partner with a personality that participates in dialogue and cutscenes, and then also I want the game to take place mostly in the digital world.
Having your Digimon be characters seem like a feature best suited for World, where you can only have one Digimon (let's just pretend Next 0rder didn't exist and that in the next World game, you only get one partner). You can have your one partner Digimon have a set personality and they would participate in in-engine cutscenes (no voice because that'd be a nightmare for the budget). Of course it'd be impossible to have other characters acknowledge what Digimon your partner is, but I don't think that matters too much. Maybe they can just occasionally make references to your Digimon's field. Like each species would be given tags (dragon, android, beetle, woman, etc.)

Also I know that Digimon can look so wildly different that having one personality for all of them would be silly, but it can be fun. Imagine the initial genki Agumon you get in ReDigitize evolving into an Angewomon, but it retains the way it spoke when it was an Agumon (heck, they already did something like that in Dawn/Dusk where the personalities for each Digimon are selected randomly. You can have a Graceful Agumon and a Wild Angewomon. So I'm imagining in this scenario you get to pick what personality your egg will have, and it will retain that personality until it dies, just like how you pick a nickname for your 'mon). Your Digimon's dialogue doesn't have to change too much, just enough that it sells the illusion. Scared Digimon can say "o-okay, I'll beat this guy so we can go home where it's safe...!!" while Lazy ones can say "*sigh* let's get this over with so we can go home and nap". Think the character voices in something like God Eater, except in my imagination the Digimon will have dialogue lines in cutscenes instead of just in-battle barks

I appreciate your first post being quoting something I said two years ago.

Iirc, the other post I mentioned had me talk about how it'd be nice to have a specific partner digimon slot, since it was talking Story instead of World. But yeah, probably not voiced. Something like 4-5 takes of a conversation based on different personalities should work, imo, like how you mentioned with the player character bits in God Eater, though those are just in-mission. Something like how some games, like Cyber Sleuth or Persona, will have inconsequential dialogue options that only change a couple bits of dialogue without affecting the story, just those options being chosen by your digimon's personality.

Funny that what I said two years ago is still pretty much what I'd say today.

That it exists.
Most dev cycles is around five years, Cyber Sleuth had enough sales momentum and demand that Hacker's Memory even had to be blasted out the doors.

Last I heard was hiring 3D artists for the game, but with how thin ice games development can be especially during 2020's craziness, not holding out that Story is still in any active development.

I personally hope for some more varying areas. Cyber Sleuth was cool, but the areas all had the very same vibe to it, which sometimes made it hard to carry on.

Also, just more Digimon. Stuff like Apollomon and maybe some other Olympos or some other Digimon that exist for a while but that get never get used like MedievalDukemon.

I have been playing DMO, but it just feels like something is missing. It has perhaps the best roster of any game, but it just feels empty for some reason.
.
Cyber Sleuth is solid, but that same backdrop kind of throws off the immersion.

I am a huge fan of Xcom. Kind of off topic, but I feel a Digimon strategy title would be a great mix.

I've been playing Cyber Sleuth recently. I just got into gaming and it's my first Digimon video game ever. I am enjoying it however I feel it's a little too centered on these one off characters than on the Digimon themselves. I would like to have more interpersonal interactions with the Digimon and explore more familiar lore than repackaging Digimon with a new lore every game.

I'd like it if they smoothed out the way evolutions work. The ABI mechanic was a decent idea in theory to make it so people couldn't jump straight to the strongest Digimon. But in practice, it was a nuisance- if you didn't know how it worked, it could leave you stuck being unable to reach the higher levels, and once you figured it out, it was just a matter of tediously having to go back and forth between different levels to get the number up. I don't think it was necessary- they already had memory limits in place to keep people from progressing too far ahead of the story and that worked fine.

What would also be cool is a way to Digivolve in the field, or even in battle. Hell, I'd like to see something like the Burst Digivolution mechanic from Digimon World 2003 where you can get a temporary boost to the next level as like a limit break. Say a boss fight is kicking your Greymon's arse, but if you get the meter up to max, you can jump him up to MetalGreymon just for that fight. Could lead to some fun anime moments.

I second the ABI thing. Even if you know what it did, it was really tedious to work with.

I’d love an open world game where we can freely explore the Digital World.

A mix between Digimon World 2003 and Cyber Sleuth would be the greatest thing on Earth.

I‘m playing Digimon Masters Online, Adventure on PSP, Digimon World 2003 and Cyber Sleuth but something new would be more than welcome and I’m not a big fan of Digimon Survive’s gameplay (we still don’t even know if it’s canceled or if it will finally have a release date).
