Was the original Adventure movie Koromon always intended to be the same character as the one in the series?

So I was under the belief that they had stated somewhere before that the Koromon that emerged from the Yagami family's computer in the first movie was a separate individual from Taichi's partner Agumon in the rest of the series, and that tri. having Agumon regain the memories from back then was a retcon, but someone on YouTube just commented that this had been hinted at before in the original series and was never outright dismissed.

Am I misremembering a statement made in either the series or an interview about the two being distinct individuals?

I know the dub said that it was a different Agumon, but I don't believe the Japanese version ever made a distinction, at least in the anime itself. An interview may have distinguished between the two.

Both the Japanese and the English dub are functionally identical.

Koromon says it must have been a different Koromon that Taichi & Hikari met, but then stops and notes it felt like it already knew Taichi when it first met him. Someone else chimes up and talks before Koromon can think about it further.

Thanks to both of you! I must have misremembered it sounding more certain.
