Fun news for Vital Bracelet fans!

Bandai is doing a general US release of the Vital Bracelet under the new branding of 'Vital Hero'.

A teaser video Bandai put on Twitter has a date of June 1st, suggesting they may have gotten a few wires crossed or had to delay formal pre-orders (although there own wording suggests the actual pre-orders could open at any time in the next day.)

The Vital Hero will come in Blue and Black, with each coming with a different Dim Card.

One thing that isn't completely clear at the moment is if these are based on the original Vital Bracelet, the updated Digivice V, or some new model with aspects of both (although some more info later has a key detail.) The product information is relatively generic for the products:
Vital Hero Blue Band comes with [Dim Card Name] Dim Card
Collect all Dim Cards to Extend play
USB charger included
Step counter, heart rate vital function (not medically accurate), LED screen with time function
Adjustable Band Size
The first interactive wearable Gamified Band that lets you level up and battle with a Digital Monster! Complete easy to hard Activity Missions such as sprinting, shadow boxing, sit ups/crunches, and walking a certain number of steps to earn trophies, increase your battle win rate, and evolve your character. Battles are prompted automatically after training missions are completed or if you tap your band against any NFC reader (Tap to Pay, Phones, etc.). Each Digital Monster evolution will be different, no two people will get the same evolution at the same time. Move More, Battle More.

Black comes with the Impulse City Dim, newly branded as 'Pulse City', which matches information found in a Vital Bracelet Lab app update recently. This should be, content wise, the same Pulsemon Dim we've seen for the last year and a half.

Blue comes with the Wolf Howl Dim, which also had information began to pop up in the most recent app update. This is a Dim focused on Gabumon with evolution paths based on Garurumon and Garurumon (Black).

Data on a 'Dinosaur Roar' Dim focused on Agumon with Greymon and Greymon (Blue) evolution paths was also in the app data, but hasn't shown up more formally yet. (Although you can spot it on the packaging. if you look on the side.)

Both Vital Hero colors have pages on Amazon, and pre-orders could open at any time: (affiliate links)

Vital Hero Blue

Price data we should have shortly.
They are listed for release on July 21st.

In addition to the Vital Hero device itself, we have some Dim sets...

dimv2_01_may30_2022.jpg
dimv3_02_may30_2022.jpg

The first 3 standard Dim sets are also coming along. Although most of these have had generally wide release in the west, another chance to get them is good.

dimv1_02_may30_2022.jpg
dimv2_04_may30_2022.jpg
dimv3_03_may30_2022.jpg

The Dim Card lineup features:
V1, which has Volcanic Beat, featuring various fiery Digimon, with a focus on Vorvomon, and Blizzard fang, featuring ice Digimon, with a focus on Blucomon.
V2, which has Infinite Tide, which features a wide variety of water Digimon and Titan of Dust, which has a large variety of desert Digimon.
V3, which has Hermit in the Jungle, which has a large variety of planet Digimon, along with Nu Metal Empire, which focuses on mechanical Digimon.

The back of the packaging also adds details regarding the app and Vital Hero being English only, and also details that a Dim Card only works on 'one' Vital Hero, which is the most solid detail we have that the initial Vital Hero looks to be the original Vital Bracelet.

dimv1_01_may30_2022.jpg
dimv2_02_may30_2022.jpg
dimv3_04_may30_2022.jpg

These have updated Vital Hero branding and are $20 each, and will also be out on July 21st.

Pre-orders are opening and closing at Amazon as things get updated, etc.: (Affiliate links)
Dim Card Set v01- Volcanic Beat and Blizzard Fang
Dim Card Set v02- Infinite Tide & Titan of Dust
Dim Card Set v03- Hermit in the Jungle & Nu Metal Empire

A wider release of the Vital Bracelet, rebranded as the Vital Hero, is only a good thing for fans, as it makes it easier and in general, cheaper to collect, along with making it easier to recommend since there are no hoops to jump through.

We should get more updates shortly, hopefully with news of even more Dims and other details.

the packaging and products look very nice but unfortunately I wouldn't be interested if these are the original VB versions with no updates to the hardware

Yeah, the lack of QOL updates would be a dealbreaker; I like the new color and all, and it's really cool to see a localization, but the VBV has been too good to go back from.

Wonder if they'll change the name of the app now lol.

Interesting to see one packed in with Impluse City and the other with Wolf Howl.

Worth noting that the localization will be in the dims rather than the VB. The only japanese text is in the digimon status screen. The name of the digimon is stored on the dim, so using a North American dim on an og VB will still yield english names.

The only other japanese will be the level (rookie, etc) and that information is stored on the vb. Not sure it's worth investing in a new unit just for that to be in english.

Hopefully at least these would be coming to Europe, including the Nordics.

... Hrrrm. So it's amusing that the word 'Digimon' only appears in the copyright jargon. Wouldn't you want that on the box if you wanted fans to recognize it in the store? Even the extended 'Digital Monster' has been shoved into a corner on the front.

Everything about this feels oddly marketed specifically outside of the core fanbase. Seems like Bandai is hoping to draw in older fans who recognize the art and casual non-fans looking to try something new and who might otherwise dismiss it if 'Digimon' were on the box. They know the people who care most about the franchise are already aware of the VB/Digivice V. The tweet might state this is for Digimon fans, but it really just feels like it isn't.

And if this is V1... I mean... let's pray they at least had the brains to at least fix the sensor to work with more than one skin tone.

It's not that different to the existing version, which is named Vital Bracelet Digital Monster without Digimon and the Digital Monster on those being small as well. All that's changed really is the word Bracelet to Hero

I agree, the removal of "digimon" is odd.

And it's a V1 Vital Bracelet. On the dim packaging you can see that the dims can only connect with one Vital Hero. Whereas in the case of the Digivice V dims could connect to 3 individual devices.

I'm having a strong feeling on why they did that and it's very obvious to what that is...

The Japanese version does not include Digimon, why are you all missing/ignoring this. Japanese version is Vital Bracelet Digital Monster and English is Vital Hero Digital Monster. There's no conspiracy theory. Digimon wasn't removed, it wasn't there in the first place.

I thought the context made it obvious that I'm only talking about US and other international releases. Yes, 'Digimon' and 'Digital Monster' have always been used interchangeably in Japan, where both terms hold equal amounts of brand recognition power. I cannot think of any other instance outside of Japan where any device has been released without a big Digimon logo of some kind on the box and the word 'Digimon' used repeatedly on the back and sides, including the 20th anniversary v-pets you mention. 'Digital Monster' by itself does not carry the same weight outside of its native territory.

Weird localization changing "Bracelet" to "Hero", but I guess that's the US for you.
More importantly, are we joking on the price? About 20 $ for a set of Dim I could have expected, but 64 $ for a toy that cost (and value) the equivalent of about 30-35 $??? Are they nuts? With a price like that, it's not different than importing from Japan.
I also cannot imagine a parent forking out so much for what, in the end, is a toy version of a fitness tracker.

Price is no different from what is on NA pbandai, if anything its cheaper. Although it is potentially cheaper to buy it on third party sites, after shipping cost there really is not much difference. $60ish is pretty much the NA market price from what i can tell

Well, if you're okay with paying things almost two times their real price, good for you. And for Bandai, I guess.
While I've never condoned their way of selling children toys at sky-high prices with the excuse of being "premium", NA Premium Bandai is basically a way to import exclusive merchandise from Japan, so I can see why the price would be a little higher than the one for Japanese customers. But this is a general distribution, meaning I'm expecting to see them in American stores. And even if it were only on Amazon, it's still an english (localization and) release, so the price shouldn't be comparable to the importing from a premium service (with limited stock and pre-order selling, I must add). It isn't a valid comparison.

For reference, the Vital Bracelet V (that is, the new version) costed about 40 $ (full price) right nowthis morning (EU time) on Amazon JP.

EDIT: I was curious, so I checked US Premium Bandai and they indeed have a White VB at 65 $ right now.... With a closed pre-order for the same item from only 3 months before costing about 40 $!!! How can they justify it? It's just shameful.

Edit2: made some wording clearer for those unable to read and rectified when I saw the price for the VB V. It seems like it changed in the meanwhile, now it costs as much as 6500 yen, which it is still only 50 $.

The Vital Bracelet's msrp was 6400 yen upon release. So that's the same as the $65 usd price tag. Its consistent.

What we're seeing now are sale prices because not only is the device a year old in japan but they released and updated version.

We'll probably see the same price drop in the North American market once the Vital Hero has run the same course. The DM20 and DMX are frequently discounted.

edit: definitely shady about them being on premium bandai US for $40 though..
