After a big chunk of teasers, the VB Series has been formally announced.

The expansion of the Vital Bracelet will include multiple things, so plenty go over...

There are now 3 devices in the Vital Bracelet line.

The original Vital Bracelet Digital Monster is sticking around as is (although we later expect it to get a rolling change to some of the updates the Digivice V has).
The new Vital Bracelet is the Digivice V from the new anime.
The Vital Bracelet Characters is added to the lineup for Kamen Rider and Ultraman.

The Vital Bracelet Digital Monster page has been updated to feature both Digimon devices.

The Vital Bracelet Characters (VBC for short after this) introduces Kamen Rider and Ultraman into the VB system, although it has some programming changes.

The first VBMs (The character equivalent of a DIM) is Kamen Rider Kuuga and Ultraman Tiga, some of the more well loved characters for those franchises.

Coverage of the VBC and VBMs will be minimal, but we're doing the introduction because there is some relevance later...

A chart showing the differences between the 3 devices.

The main relevant items for us are:
The original VB has no sleep mode, or evo timer during sleep.
The VBC has a slightly larger band.

Then, an important detail...
They aren't locking out Digimon Dim Cards on the DBC, nor VBM on the original Vital Bracelet or the Digivice V, HOWEVER... there are programming differences, so there may be some things that don't display properly if you use them on the 'opposite' device, and no compatibility is guarenteed.

VBM will have it's own app called the Character's Lab.

Vital Bracelet and Digivice V can each have 3 Dim Cards in use. It notes once a Dim Card has been used on the Vital Bracelet Digital Monster it can't be used on another VB.

A VB locked Dim can still be activated on a Digivice V, and then becomes newly locked.

And then some large art of the packaging and Dims...

Pre-orders should be opening any time, and we will update when they are.

Update- Pre-orders are open and details are here.

In general we will not be covering the non-Digimon content from here on out for the Vital Bracelet. There will likely be exceptions to that based on what shows up of course.

Press information also mentions they've sold 200k Vital Bracelets since launch, and aim to hit 500k.

Thanks to A_n_ochan for this press detail.

I can't read Japanese, does this say the Digivice V DiM will work with the original Vital Bracelet?

Edit, NVM. I saw it now. That's what I get for trying to multitask

Well, they need to make sure that other P-Bandai stores sells them too otherwise the number will hardly increase =/
I've tried asking P-Bandai Singapore to release more Digimon stuff but they say it's "not up to them".

Oh yeah I dreamed of this for a long time and it finally happens, well its not with Gundam but Ultraman and Kamen Rider are just as good.

And good to see my favorite Beast and Dino Dims in Digivice V, Pulsemon and Gammamon.

This is fantastic news! Thank you! I’m actually getting hyped. Hopefully some kind soul could help translate that comparability chart? I would gladly help if I could...

I will definitely get a Digivice V! Now not only for collectors purposes but to work out with too.

Huh. ...Yeah. That Kuuga line is very accurate. Don't know Ultraman. ...Not too surprised they're doing this with the new series.

Tiga's line is not too precise, in the show it was:
Dark→Blast\Tornado→Pietrified→Multi\Power\Sky→Glitter(and Evil Tiga was a different character)
In the VB it goes:
LIGHT→Pietrified→Dark→Blast\Tornado→Multi\Power\Sky→Glitter\Evil

Now, I am getting interested into getting a VB, but I'm still confused by the difference between the Digimon, the Digivice and the Character versions

I read Greymon’s design was inspired by the keiju Gomora from Ultraman.

I’m really curious about the things on the box about the dim cards. On the original VB device box it shows the same image that says “DIM card link” in yellow, but the new box also has a blue colored “DIM card” underneath it. Wonder what that means? I’m gonna attempt a translation.

EDIT: I did a photo translation which did not help that lol. I’m just curious if it actually has a meaning of sorts or if it is just.. on there. Maybe it means it supports the old ones AND the ones that come out after this device.

Please clarify something for me:

Is there any reason, besides collection, to buy the original VB instead of the Digivice V? It seems there isn't any, as the Digivice V admits all Digimon DIM and also have the sleep feature. Am I wrong?

Yeah you are partly wrong. It is very similar to the original except that the screen is brighter and supposed to be a bit upgraded and then also two other things. You can put your Digimon to sleep when you want and when they are asleep the evolution timer doesn’t stop while they are asleep. And also you can use a dim card that’s locked to your older VB once on the new one and then if you get a new dim and use it on the new one it can be shared with other new ones I believe 3 different devices. It is a bit updated. So, yeah there are differences. I wish they did more upgrades like making it thinner but hopefully they do that sometime in the future. I think it’s worth it. Especially considering it comes out to be cheaper than the regular vb. And gammamon, of course.

edit: the original VB doesn’t have the “sleep” feature like the new one does. Yes the original VB the Digimon do sleep. But the evolution timer doesn’t keep going until they wake up again on the original and not to mention when they say “sleep feature” they mean you can make them sleep when YOU want. Not just based of their personality.

Didn't Yo-Kai Watch start to falter in Japan because parents were confused about toy compatibility with the watches? I'm concerned this is already going in that direction... I mean for one thing, are the Kamen Rider and Ultraman ones' DiM cards cross-compatible? Are they compatible with the Digimon ones and vice versa?

I think that you can load them onto your VB (just like how you can load custom dim cards people have made) but that they won’t be able to be used in the VB lab app. They will have a different app for those ones releasing I believe mid November. They should load onto the VB but things won’t be displayed correctly.. there’s probably some differences and it would probably be best to get the correct one for each franchise (Digimon VB for Digimon, ultraman/kamen rider for ultraman/kamen rider) they did say they don’t guarantee they would be cross compatible and there could be display issues.

edit: I think that the kamen rider and ultraman will be cross compatible with each other as I’m pretty sure they’ll be using the same app. But the Digimon VB I don’t think is.
