The Digimon Card Game Twitter has updated with a card preview from Booster Set 11 Dimensional Phase. This time it's V-dramon.

This time we get to see a parallel card of V-dramon. This V-dramon is a purchase bonus for buying a full box of BT11. It's a parallel card to the V-dramon card from Booster 1, and is styled like a Hyper Colosseum card, specifically Bo-83, the first V-dramon card from the original Digimon card game. The preview shows it side by side with the original card to feature the art.

The card being laid out like it is makes me realize that it's kind of a shame we don't get the little blurbs about a Digimon on the modern cards. There's not many places to put them, of course, which is why we don't, but it is a bit sad.

the only card game I played regularly in the past was Magic the Gathering and I would say about half their cards or more feature flavor text, so the lack of flavor text anywhere in this card game is one of the first things I noticed and is one of the few things I don't like about the DCG (a very minor downside I'm not too bothered by). The Pokémon card game also has flavor text on almost every monster card where most of it is copied over from the video game pokedex entries, so even though it's less favorable than Magic's unique write-ups, it would have still been nice for new players if Bandai copied Pokémon and provided condensed down reference book entries on cards.

As an upside though, DCG has the most visual easter eggs I've seen in a card game. It feels like especially lately that all of our artists are trying to include cameos or references in their pieces

The other extreme is Vanguard, where every card crams in snippets of flavor text that ranges from "generic anime worldbuilding" to "wholly nonsensical word soup."

I thoroughly enjoy Magic's flavor text, it really works for the high-concept, deep fantasy world its set in.

Yu-Gi-Oh has something of a solution, which is only Normal Monsters get flavor text. Granted, it's often closer to Vanguard's "generic anime/utter gobbledygook" tendencies than Magic's consistent world, but I feel like Digimon with no effects might could do with a little flavor text. I think the idea of using it to bring new players into the Digimon world is really smart. With that said, I would be sad to see the big, gorgeous art space this game has get cut down. I think as you pointed out, the sheer amount of deep cuts, Easter eggs, and bits of lore given in the art is absolutely wonderful. The game feels like a huge love letter to the fans.

They'd just copy paste from the DRB anyway, so it feels needless to me.

Hyper Colosseum parallel. If the DCG give tribute to many previous media, we might see parallel card stylized like other official cards that came after Hyper Colosseum (Though I think it's less likely because Hyper Colosseum is very identical and historical, of all cards).

At least some references or stories that came with them. Like Nanomon group from Digica Taisen. Or even better, Super Digica Taisen could get its own booster.

there's a ton of people who are having their first look at the greater Digimon franchise be this card game.
Pokémon also doesn't do it for no reason; it's a branding tactic

Hyper Colo did that about half the time, but the other half included blurbs on things like what some of their attacks are like, or other bits of info that the DRB didn't cover (especially for shit like, I dunno, Gururumon, where the DRB entry is about two lines long so some of the Hyper Colo stuff had to add some.)

Yeah, some of my friends got into digimon via the tcg and people like them would benefit a lot from official blurbs. Things I take for granted about very popular digimon they still ask me questions about.

One of the most interesting flavor text examples in HC was Andiramon’s first card, which talks about its waist connector absorbing opponents’ energy and causing them to revert, which isn’t mentioned at all in its profile. I was reminded of it lately by Ghost Game (it also has an attack called Data Absorption in Digimon RPG).

HC also has interesting discovery like Imperialdramon Data, which I hope will come back in the new DCG. Also the confirmation of Lucemon having 12 wings, we got from HC.
HC for me is like the extended version of a digimon discovery report.

And like other earlier media, I think HC will always have special place in fans. Just like the first anime series of Digimon, the first anime movie, the first V-Pet (Digital Monster), and other the firsts.
