V-dramon & AeroV-dramon Preview for Booster Set EX-03 & Promo Poster

The Digimon Card Game Twitter has updated with card previews from Booster Set EX-03 Dragon's Roar. This time it's V-dramon & AeroV-dramon.

V-dramon & AeroV-dramon both feature new art, each one featuring him hanging out with half the Adventure partners. It's a fun use of paired artwork to include V-dramon with the Adventure partners.


In addition they put up the Booster Set EX-03 promo poster. The main focus is on the Chaosdramon art that's been used as key art for the set, but down below we do get to see cards of V-mon, Guilmon, and Dracomon. V-mon and Guilmon we've seen a bit of from the packart before, btu this is the first time we're seeing Dracomon.

Judging by the fact that we have yellow agumon with Ryo's PC in its artwork, and that these cards depict all the chosen children's digimon, this is likely meant to be ryo's v-dramon from the videogames.

I'm not entirely sure if he got a v-dramon in the games as I've never played them. It could also be a reference to v-tamer tai, though we already have cards for him and zeromaru.

It's probably because Agumon>Veedramon>Aeroveedramon>Goddramon used to be Goddra's main line back in the day. I guess it was obvious after Veemon was revealed to be Red and Veedramon Yellow. I knew my crackpot theory was correct.

The Four Great Dragons didn't exist during Anode/Cathode Tamer (as Megidramon was later created for Tamers).

It's likely because, before the debut of UlforceV-dramon, Goddramon was closely associated as V-dramon's Ultimate-level.
They probably wanted the evolution line of one of its members as the support for the [Four Great Dragons] playstyle. Goddramon's V-dramon line was probably the best choice because:

1. The whole evolution line is primarily dragon-based.
2. Yellow (Goddramon's color) is the most common color among the Four Great Dragons (e.g. Holydramon and BT8-044 Qinglongmon).

Storywise he didn't, however it's not unlikely to be an allusion to Anode/Cathode tamer regardless. Veedramon might have not been canonically in the story, however it was a special event Digimon, that a player could have added to his team very early on in the Veedramon edition of the games.

Haven't played all the Wonderswan games myself, but as far as I'm aware Ryo's partner's were Tai's Agumon, Davis' Veemon and (things get messy) Milleniummon, who was destined and/or wanted to be his partner, but then Monodramon force jogressed with him and acquired the form of Cyberdramon that way.

He didn't, veedramon just joins you

You're right. Now I think it's more likely to Goddramon.

The Four Great Dragons didn't exist during Anode/Cathode Tamer (as Megidramon was later created for Tamers).

I think the Four Great Dragons have existed since they were mentioned in Qinglongmon's profile, but I don't recall if Qinglongmon was around at that point. It would have been around two games later, at least, but I can't remember if the card with it was before then or not.
