I love the reference. Really nostalgic, especially when playing Digimon World. By any chance is Hippogriffomon the next stage?

Chances are pretty low. There're only 4 unknown yellow slots. Angemon and Seraphimon are nigh confirmed, and the last 2 are likely Etemon and MetalEtemon since Chuumon and Sukamon are in.

I think the nail in the coffin was definitely Pegasusmon. It shares a body type with Unimon while being blatant it evolves from Patamon....
Sure we can accept both like how Agumon has the similar Greymon and Tyrannomon as its most evolutions but it's still a big blow to Patamon -> Unimon fans

Don't know why people are so hung on colors in Digimon, Greymon isn't the same color as Agumon, Kabuterimon isn't the same color as Tentomon. I've seen people create an alternative red Agumon-type of rookie, just to serve as a Tyrannomon pre-evo, when Agumon is right there, perfect as the digi-god created him.

I see this all the time too with Tyrannomon and I'm not going to dictate how people enjoy the fandom or nitpick someone's work but I'd be lying if I said my first reaction wasn't that they're doing too much, or trying to solve an issue that's not an issue, or reinventing the wheel. I think I made a sketch in highschool of a Tyrannomon rookie myself which I believe I lost over time so I'm not one to talk

No one would be complaining about Unimon being Patamon's evolution if it was the one the anime chose in the first place, since its anime debut is the one that creates the most powerful impression. I think people just like to be traditionalist.

This set seems to be implying Tokomon > Patamon > Angemon / Unimon > HolyAngemon > Seraphimon / Goddramon at least. I think any combination of those makes enough sense and has some claim to precedent already. All have a Holy theme and the Angemon line can really branch off into or from anything, representing holiness very generally.

I wish that the Digimon anime would treat parallel evolutions as more than a negative outcome like SkullGreymon or Megidramon. I don't think there's anything in Digimon lore that states that they are inherently bad. There's no good reason why Patamon can't evolve to Angemon under certain conditions and Unimon under other conditions, depending on what the tamer needs.

I'm not a fan of how the franchise is so anime focused. By that I mean, just because Patamon > Angemon was used in Adventure, why does that have to be the consistent main pairing forever?

I understand why the did it- and continue to do so.

From my perspective, Angemon should have no main rookie. Any child digimon with the specific conditions should digivolve into it, like Numemon. Unimon (maybe Centalmon) should be Patamon's main digivolution. And T.K.'s patamon's main should be Angemon.


Patamon being on Unimon's does seem more likely than the reverse.

For B/Second evolution lines to become enforced, the media that depicts it would have to be super popular enough that Bandai can't ignore. Looking at the OG mons, many have great B line evos. Tyranomon for Agumon, Airdramon for Betamon, Unimon for Patamon, Cockatrimon for Piyomon, as for Gabumon I don't know, maybe a reptilian one to reflect how the last form had a species split aka Elecmon. Still hopefully Bandai creates more projects down the line for the 30th anniversary.

Unimon's mask never unmasked.. But I still have a strong hope for it. Because of Ofanimon's face revealed so one day those certain digimon ones will get unmasked...

I like to use Drimogemon, an evolution that focuses on the 'horn' since Garurumon lacks one.
