Really liking the colors and light here. Tyutuymon looks like a little bastard, which feels right.

Hoping for a lv5 Tuwarmon.
Not happening, Tuwarmon is officially Level IV and the new card game does not deviate when it comes to Levels.

Even Armors were unanimously treated as Level IV.

don't listen to them, Lord Bearmon. Hope for whatever you want.

I love these two! I'm happy to see them!

ChuuChuumon
Rookie | Virus | Beast/Bagra's Army
[On Play] Reveal 4 cards from the top of your deck. Add 1 Digimon card with [Bagra's Army] in its traits and 1 Tamer card named [Ewan Amano] from among the revealed cards to your hand. Place the remaining cards at the bottom of your deck in any order.
[On Deletion] <Save> (You can place this card under one of your Tamer cards in play)
<Inherited Effect>: [Opponent's Turn] When this card is trashed by an effect, gain 1 memory.

Damemon
Champion | Virus | Mutant/Bagra's Army
[On Play] [When Digivolving] If you don't have a Tamer card named [Ewan Amano] in play, you may play one from your hand without paying its memory cost.
[On Deletion] <Save>
<Inherited Effect>: [Opponent's Turn] When this card is trashed by an effect, gain 1 memory.

As expected, this confirms that Yuu is the Purple Tamer. Kinda amusing that Tyutyumon is being treated as Damemon’s Rookie when it was unrelated in the show.

As for Tsuwarmon, I would not be surprised if they treated it akin to a Mode Change where it can also Evolve from Damemon despite being the same Level.

Beast spirit is lv4 here but Perfect level in DiM card.
Which has nothing to do with the fact that Tuwarmon is, officially, Level 4. Armors are supposed to be variable - literal, stated levels are not.
Damemon
Champion | Virus | Mutant/Bagra's Army
I mean, I get why it's Bagra's Army, it's made to work with Yuu who's definitely going to be support for that, but it feels really weird when the only reason Damemon served them was specifically to serve Yuu.

To be fair, that’s not that different from regular Chuumon being Sukamon’s default Level III stage.

So like SkullKnightmon Cavalier Mode? That’s probably how it’d work because:

Exactly Matt, what Dim cards do means fuck all in regards to the card game since the card game itself does not deviate from official levels.

Even the “Level VII” cards like Omegamon and RagnaLordmon are listed as Mega/Ultimate in keeping with Level VII being a subset of Level VI.

Hell, the fact this card game doesn’t do a lot a Level shenanigans, Hybrid not withstanding, was why it establishing KingWhamon as a Level VI got so much attention since prior to this, there was little indication that KingWhamon was even a species at all and Levels weren’t a thing in Xros Wars.

To be fair, DarkKnightmon joins his big brother about halfway through the series if we’re treating both arcs as a full series without Hunters.

On that note, a bit of digression, but what is the deal with Xros Wars being a series without levels, what did that mean, exactly? I know that in practice a lot of digimon introduced there had no established levels in the reference book. But as someone who did not watch the anime at the time and only followed news of it later, I was under the impression this meant in that universe levels were not relevant and digimon didn't evolve.

Only later I learned evolution does happen in the Xros Wars universe, and is a growing stage just like the other series, that digimon go through their lifespan. So I was really confused on what that meant.

Were they just throwing digimon of completely different levels against each other as if they had similar power level more than usual? Was no digimon outside of the ones experiencing "super evolution" evolving on screen ever? Not even the babies?

It was a bit confusing.

The statement of Xros Wars not acknowledging Levels makes sense when you’ve actually watched at least the first two arcs but yeah it basically boiled down to both of the above.

Digivolution in Xros Wars was divorced from the standard Digimon life cycle stages representing age and power.

Super Evolution is described as “becoming what you will be in the future” but that was vague as all hell and doesn’t even make sense in regards to Damemon specifically since he “Super Evolves” into Tuwarmon, his true form from the previous two arcs hence why they are officially both Level IV in the Encyclopedia.

And of course there’s Tactimon’s remark about taking centuries to Digivolve himself which, while great in hindsight given the Levels he and Shoutmon/OmegaShoutmon were subsequently given by the aforementioned Encyclopedia, makes little sense in the context of Xros Wars itself since, even ignoring that he was purportedly created from the regretful and residual souls of thousand-year-old Warrior Digimon's data and a Troopmon by Bagramon according to the manga, he should have presumably always been a Tactimon just as Beelzemon was born a Baalmon (despite Baalmon itself as a species being made Level V by the DRB) with the latter even being shown as a kid:

Xros Wars tried too hard to be different bro.
You want to make a Digimon where the focus isn't on normal digivolution? Alright, that's some 02 or Frontier stuff I can respect it plus it makes it so when Shoutmon or one of his homies do naturally evolve it's hype as hell.
You want to disregard levels and attributes so that MadLeomon can be clapped by Shoutmon with a stick? You know what, alright, it gives you the type of story writing you know works for you plus digimon animes don't usually focus too hard on that stuff anyways.
But having all these digimon that were added to the reference book not have attributes or levels for like a decade and this super evolution thing, it's just weird and confusing

It does sound somewhat frustrating.

I am hoping we eventually get some good profile report on xros and who knows if they will even acknowledge (xros wars) as a trait in the reference book, or finally remove it as vestige of a past issue that is not relevant anymore.

Armor, Hybrid, and Tuwarmon basically make an over saturation of Champion Digimon in this card game.

Digimon try to make another type level and another jogress. But in the end they back to normal evolution (Adventure 2020 & Ghost Game), because they know fans more love original evolution than what they try to make.

Considering how over-saturated Level VI was as a Level overall, I'm not bother by the increase of Level IV and V.

Good, anything to give any other level an advantage over the absolutely massive glut of Ultimates that exist when Ultimates should, by their very nature, not be something that common.

They acknowledged the fluctuating power of Armor and Hybrid in the recent digimon profiles, instead of it simply being a convenience the previous games/card games often go for and thus outside of canon and meant to be ignored.

So is not unreasonable for them in the future to release level V Armor and Hybrid cards. We have seen how closely the card game has been adhering to the reference book.
