TorikaraBallmon & Burgamon Preview for Booster Set 12

The Digimon Card Game Twitter has updated with card previews from Booster Set 12 Across Time. This time it's TorikaraBallmon & Burgamon.

TorikaraBallmon features a number of the named Digimon (and a friend) chowing down, plus a Burgamon preparing food in the kitchen, where you can see more of the kitchen and restaurant in the background.

I never expected McNuggetmon to get cards! Weird that they picked Nyokimon and not one of the birds like Pururumon.

we need to keep adding food digimon like the relatively new Pomumon who represents dragon fruit but also fruit in general! Or Shortmon who reps strawberry shortcake but also cake in general!
I would love for the food digimon to be a huge grouping of their own.
Also, Torikaraballmon's card effect looks really freaking good for a digitama!?

I agree that Puroromon fits better for the Baby I (even better if they create "Ballmon") but maybe this choice is based on the fact that TorikaraBallmon is a "nugget", a meat. In Digital World, meat is a food we plant and grow.
Though this doesn't close the possibility of TorikaraBallmon to evolve from Puroromon in the future.

I presume you mean Pururumon. Puroromon is the Baby II that looks like a bee.

Well, the Burgamons are a lot closer to plants than birds (having a lot of associations with and evolutions into plant digimon) and tend to be associated with the various different Nature fields, so taken from that perspective it makes sense to have a plant Baby 1 rather than a bird one.

Though, yes, from a food perspective both make about as much sense.

Wow I thought Burgamon was simply special quest to Digimon Adventure 2020 only once after Frontier but I'm so glad to see those again. They are no longer limited to "Limited edition" special ads. Good for them! If only Burgamon needs to complete its whole evolution line.

If you consider the existence of Jagyamon, then Nyokimon makes sense, especially if it is eldoradimon who will become Jagyamon's evolution.

To be honest when it comes to the oddity of baby level evolution, adventure digimon mostly have babies which I don't think is suitable. Especially Piyomon who is from Nyokimon.

Adventure 1 only had 10 babies to work with so their hands were somewhat tied.

I strongly disagree. I think babies turned super boring as soon as 02 rolled around and "smaller version of the child form" became the baby standard. The really weird, seemingly ill-fitted babies of the Adventure partners are so much more interesting and so much more memorable, and reflect the concept that these are the most basic form of data lifeforms that truly have the ability to evolve in a myriad of different ways. Tentomon evolving from a little blobby man or Piyomon from a flower is so much less dull than if they had a "proper" insect or bird prevo.

All of that aside, I am amused by Nyokimon evolving into chicken (nuggets) given its stated potential to evolve intro dragon Digimon.

I agree with this. If Adventure was a new series, Tentomon and Piyomon's baby forms would have been Tentomon's head and Piyomon's head. Not a fan of the concept that's why I still feel weird to see Angoramon's Baby I form that has a nose. It's visually like they chop Angoramon's head off.

I love the more oddball babies like how Otamamon shares Tentomon's baby in Mochimon and I can see a lot of visual similarities between Mochimon and Otamamon I probably would have overlooked otherwise or how Gottsumon also used to evolve from Mochimon before we got Goromon which is interesting from a digimon evolution and raising perspective as a notoriously softbodied digimon found it necessary to evolve into a rookie known for its hard body

...seeds are pieces of plants and become plants, the reason it's the Baby 1 for a bunch of plant types is that it's a baby plant. That's the whole point.
