Tamer Battle EX, the newest ongoing Digimon Card Game event in Japan was announced a few days ago, and we finally have more details!
Tamer Battle EX is being framed as a slightly more challenging event than the standard Tamer Battle events.
Like ongoing events like Tamer Meeting and Tamer Battle, Tamer Battle EX will be monthly.
The main different for the EX events is the rules will not be the standard card game rules, but with specialized rules and setups, which will change on an ongoing basis.
The first format played at Tamer Battle EX will be 3 on 3, which will be used in the first 2 months of EX, August and September.
And like other events, there are prizes!
The participation prize is Tamer Battle Pack 19. Minus Shoutmon on the cover, the other 3 Digimon in the pack haven't been announced. We'll likely find out what they are shortly for another event.
The winner's prize for the first event is a parallel card of B13-110 Royal Knights' Purge. The artwork on the card is from Royal Knights' Purge in the original Digimon card game, which was card Bx-7s.
The final part of the event is a lotto for everyone at each shop where they get another chance to win the winner's prize.
Having an event based around custom rules makes sense, especially since a number of larger official tournaments and other events have used custom rules (3 on 3 was used in a tournament event a year or so ago if I remember correctly.)
