Taiga & Rina Tamer Cards Previews for Booster Set 2

New card previews from the Digimon Card Game!

The Digimon Card Game Twitter has updated with more card previews from Booster Set 2 Ultimate Power. This time it's tamer cards for Taiga and Rina.

Taiga is a green card and Rina is a blue card. A bit of a surprise to see these two pop up. Both are from Digimon World Re:Digitize, Taiga appearing in the original PSP version of the game, with Rina being added in Decode on the 3ds (although likely being better known to many fans from her appearances in a number of games since then.) Both appear to use their profile artwork (with some minor touch-ups it looks like for blending purposes.)

A surprise, but a fun one.



Digimon Card Game Booster Set 2 Ultimate Power is scheduled to release on July 22nd. The biggest preview we've gotten so far of cards from that set was the recent 4 page spread from V-Jump. (Which is also where we first saw these 2 cards.)

Wow, hopefully Mameo (or whatever the canon name they will give to the protagonist of the first Digimon World game) will appear too.

Shinomiya Rina:

[during your turn] when your Blue Digimon attack, you may Rest this Tamer to add +1000DP to that Digimon until the end of the turn

[when played] reveal the top 3 cards of your deck. Choose 1 Digimon card with [Vee] in its name and add it to your hand. Put the rest at the bottom of your deck in any order


edits: I did a lot of editing as I was confused on whether the top three cards Rina flips are revealed to your opponent and if these cards are put on the bottom of the deck in any order at the end of the ability. Luckily, I had some people help clarify this

Wow. This does open the gate for tamers from all around this franchise to appear. I would have guessed it'd be characters from Tamers or even the likes of Mameo or Aiba appearing first, but this is great too.

So I'm assuming Mameo would be a Black tamer, if Koh and Sayo appear they'll be Yellow and Purple tamers respectively. Any other ideas?

Wow cool video game characters. It's not just anime, woohoo. Redigitize seems a bit weird with how old it is.

Now to wait for Cyber Slueth, Hackers Memory, Survive, Next Order etc characters.

Keisuke and Erika would be green. Chitose would be yellow or blue (depending on if they go with armadillomon or Angemon). Arata would be purple.

Arata would be purple

I would say Black as Eaters are synthetic and Keramon itself is a Black card. Suedo, Yuugo, and Yuuko would also be Black cards. For purple I can see Rie Kishibe, Jimiken, and of course, Sayo!

RustTyrannomon makes sense. I always assumed Taiga's Agumon would evolve into WarGreymon eventually because that was the only digimon you could use the X-Antibody Dorumon gave you, though. But Tyrannomon isn't available in vanilla Re: Digitize so I guess it's strictly Decode that is being referenced.

Yuugo would be Black, yes, but Yuuko is more associated with Gaioumon, who would be more of a Red card.

alright, I could see that. Adding to that Nokia would be a Red or Blue card whose ability benefits dual color Red/Blue decks. Not just because of her partners but because it's flavorfully colorful, uniting, and wanting to do multiple things at once which feels so much like Nokia. I could see Aiba as black but they could be any color and Kyoko I'm not sure between Black, Blue, and Purple. Maybe even Yellow? Yu is Purple for sure and Keisuke just feels Blue

To complete this for the Re: Digitize gang, Nikolai would be Blue (because Gaomon), Akiho would be Red (because Piyomon), Yuuya would be either Red or Purple (I'm not sure where to fit Black Wargreymon X) and Mirei would be a Yellow or Purple tamer that allows for synergy between Yellow and Purple cards. Should Yakov Petrov appear, he could be a Red or a Black tamer.

Taiga FINALLY GOT TO APPEAR. But it's very odd specific effect about Tyranomon to boost. I don't remember Taiga often partnered with Tyranomon rather than Agumon/WarGreymon mostly.

Rina easily is the best girl.

I agree about which tamers getting their colors to match from their game appearances but what about Nokia? And Mirei? I find it hard to judge for Aiba twins which to give color cards since they have multiple partners. It's interesting if Next Order characters get their cards to have "caring" effects to refer from Next Order's caring system.

Well, the "themes" for each color are a nice rule of thumb but we already have exceptions to them so it's not surprising. Best case scenario we have a Tyrannomon-species that fits with the insect/plant/ogre theme (swamp theme?) of the Green cards.

As much as I would dearly love some new Tyrannomon, considering that it took 20 years to get an Ultimate-level Tyrannomon, I'm not holding my breath.

Well, the adventure characters aren't Tamers either technically. Doesn't matter if you're digidestined, tamer, or hacker.

And green Taiga was weird to me

Honestly Taiga got green that surprised me. Red is more preferable. Maybe having Tyranomon targeting effects make Taiga feel like "Leader"?

Beats me... But does it mean Tyranomon will get new green card after got red card already? What about his evolutions?
