Survive Japanese Release Date is July 28th, Guilmon Pre-Order Bonus

Thanks to ryokutya, always a good source for info from magazines, we have a few large updates for Digimon Survive!

The Japanese release date is July 28th. After years of delays, having a release date is a great thing, although due to the day of the week that is, it likely doesn't line up for a worldwide release the same day, but we'll see what pops out soon for other countries.

In addition, Guilmon will be a pre-order bonus Digimon.


Various places/people seem to be reporting the info from ryokutya is from Famitsu. They don't always tag what magazine info is from, and didn't in this case, but it's posted in the midst of various articles that appear to be from the upcoming issue of V-Jump, so we expect it is from there, not Famitsu.

I hope an English release date isn't far behind... I really don't want it where it comes out, we wait months, and then people run around telling everyone the spoilers cuz we get it 2 months later etc.

Not really sure how Guilmon as a pre order bonus would work, would he come with his own pre order Tamer or would the game just have you start with a wild Guilmon in your party that can then be swapped out for Agumon and now your partner is Guilmon. Prob also means the Guilmon line comes as pre order as well, technically.

Habu: “By playing Free Battle, you can make wild monsters your partners. One of the battle commands is ‘Conversation,’ which allows you to have a conversation with a wild monster. You can use this command to have a conversation with wild monsters by answering their questions with choices. If you succeed, you can recruit the monster as a partner, or receive items from it.”

We've heard that Digimon can be recruitable, so I'd assume Guilmon would just be added to your party of recruited Digimon. Most likely only Agumon is relevant to the story though.

Feeling a mix of happiness from finally having a release date and fear of it not being final.

I am not expecting this game to do great, but I do appreciate Habu took his time for a pet project trying something new with the franchise. We don't know when we will get Digimon trying something like this that doesn't follow the Story or World formula for a huge platform release again.

I'm probably going to preorder this just out of the sheer wait it's taken for me to finally see a release date. It's sort of a spiteful "I did not wait this long to not at least get my Guilmon" although I am certain I will enjoy the hell out of this game anyways

I'm very surprised, we knew it was coming along but the way Habu was talking about it I expected it at the beginning of next year at the earliest, not this coming summer. Regardless I'm glad to have a concrete release date nonetheless as I am looking forward to this game, and I'm hoping against all odds it leaves a good impression as I do admire Habu's passion in making it.

Well, it's finally within reach, lovely. Here's hoping the international release isn't too far off from the Japanese launch. The game has been rated from various boards around the world already so I can still see that as a possibility, though game ratings also happen months in advance so whether or not that means anything remains to be seen.

Anyways, great news to see after so many years of uncertainty, and Guilmon being a bonus is cool.

Finally some good fucking news. I doubt Survive is going to be top tier stuff, Digimon video games are eternally cursed to never be good outside of like Digital Card Arena, but as a SRW fan I am obligated to play SRPGs that actually match my interests.

So? The game is coming out NOW. they could have very easily done this with ghost game mons.
