Hello hello!!

I have a few V-Pets I want to keep around, but I'm focused on the black-and-red X antibody one right now. I still have their boxes, and I know to take the batteries out to resist corrosion... My question is, how does the 'save' feature power itself? Am I going to lose this feature in future plays by storing it with no battery now, or is it more like a capacitor that would recharge with the next battery?

It's EEPROM, it's designed to keep holding the save with no power. If the save eventually fades away, after some years, you should be still be able to start a new one. In long storage, other parts will probably die first. Actually playing the game is what puts the most wear on the EEPROM.
