Stuff for the weekend!

socialart_episode55_july3_2021.png

After Digimon Adventure: episode 55 aired, Digimon Web put up social art of Rosemon. The attached message:

BanchoMamemon makes his 1st anime apperance!
The actors for Jijimon & Babamon played them for the 1st time in 20 years, since Tamers!😊

Stay tuned for next time, episode 56 The Gold Wolf of the Crescent Moon!

Update- And we get new art by Kenji Watanabe! Posted a bit later than nomra.

The art shows off Rosemon & Mimi from later in the episode, and feels like it's channeling Giant Robo. The attached message:
Mimi-chan's story is cheerful & bright! Rosemon is a big surprise!

Then a bit more social art, with a bit of a different look to it...

vbart_2titanofdust_july3_2021.jpg

Digimon Web put up these pieces of art on different days to celebrate the recent release of the Infinite Tide & Titan of Dust Dim Cards. They have a really nice textured look to them, with Pulsemon going through the environment from the Dim Cards, with various Digimon also showing up. Hopefully this continues for future Dim Card releases.

And then we have an update on products in China. A bunch of images of new things this time...

First up...

A Digimon Adventure: shirt line with a bunch of different designs from PcmyLab.

These feature character artwork along with various text styling and franchise terms. The various images were kept in the order they were sent in. No explanation on 'Special Instructions', perhaps they were hot links to shirt care instructions, unsure.

Each shirt goes for roughly $23.

A video sample showing the models wearing the shirts can be found here.

Then next up...

adventure2020battery19_july3_2021.jpg
adventure2020battery20_july3_2021.jpg

A Digimon Adventure: portable device battery!

The battery is 1000mAh and has multiple ports. It has 2 USB-A ports along with a USB-C port. It also includes a cradle for charging the device.

The design of the battery is a little egg pod with Agumon inside, with a crest of courage design around him(along with some digimoji, and an image of Koromon in a Digivice, among others.) The back has an English Adventure: logo on it. And it lights up while charging.

The little Agumon can be removed and swapped out for other characters (they show a little dog figure, so they likely use this swappable element on a number of batteries and/or other products.)

This costs roughly $46.

And the last new item from China...

This is labeled as a postcard set, but there doesn't appear to be anywhere to right on them, so more like gift or collectors cards. They all have really nice detailing and they come in a set in a nice collectors box.

Then updates on a few things we've seen before...

adventure2020_costumefigureschina10_june28_2021.jpg

First, the new costume mini-figures of the Adventure: kids. An unboxing by Pino of the figures shows their size compared to the recent Miku Agumon Costume Nendoroid.

And then the other mini figures that we haven't seen much of. We've found out the retail price for these will be roughly $10.70, like the other mini figures.

Last up, reference book updates! With these 5 X-Antibody Digimon, the reference book has all the X-Antibody Digimon listed.

Also, an update...

Translations of Konaka's blog will NOT return. I simply don't have the time to do them even in a limited fashion to a reasonable quality. I'd still recommend using a machine translator and reading them as best you can (which is what was recommended before, as what I was doing was just a brief overview of interesting things.

If you missed prior entries...

Episodes and other entries that have gone up since that we didn't do...

It's good to see this one finally acknowledged, given it hasn't been used in anything since 2005.

It had only been in world 4 and one cared. Wouldn't have been surprised if they forgot it existed. Makes me wonder if there's like an internal database outside the DRB we don't see that has *everyone* in it.

Or maybe they just look at fan wikis lol. Habu once mentioned using them before

Yay! Much better ep then the last 2 weeks. But Hey, portable battery. Cool. Gearmon X does look bigger. Like a mode change almost. But is that what Gaoimon's new form looks like. ...I guess most of the cast gets a new evo, he gets a new form.

You've missed the joke.

Big surprise appears to be a joke based on him deciding to draw Rosemon and Mimi as if they were from the Giant Robo OVAs.

So what's the deal with Growmon X? Its profile emphasizes its elbow blades (with Raiden Blade being its only unique attack from vanilla Growmon), but I'm not seeing any elbow blades. Of course, it doesn't help that it has barely any media appearances to speak of, resulting in very few images to reference.

EDIT: And now that I look at both of them again...... is it just more, or does vanilla Growmon actually sport far more details in its design than its X counterpart? Rather ironic when X forms were previously described as being HD versions of the originals, or something along those lines.

That’s how we interpreted it but they’re really just farmed out to guest artists and the majority of them just happened to turn out more detailed. A few are even simplified (Protomon and the Mamemons for instance).

They are either summoned or retractable. Note how the profile states that the blades "develop plasma and appear when attacking the enemy."(The term 'appear' is not used in Growmon's original attack description).
Anyway, they are not there when he's not using the attack and he's not attacking in the profile picture. The only attack we see in card artwork is Exhaust Flame, so they aren't visible there either.

The Bandai art of the regular variant has more contrast, that's about it. Looking at the structure visible on the hair and the claws and general lighting I would argue that there is more or at least the same amount of detail on the X-antibody artwork but the style portrays those details more subtly.

Okay, that makes sense. And I combed over the Japanese text just to make sure no context was lost, but the term "appear" (出現) is indeed present. So basically, Growmon X activates lightsabers from its elbows?

Kinda wish you could actually take Pulsemon (any digimon) with you to the worlds of other DIM cards. Would make adventure missions more interesting.
