Sanzomon Previews for Booster Set 10

The Digimon Card Game Twitter has updated with a card preview from Booster Set 10 Xros Encounter. This time it's Sanzomon.

Sanzomon isn't a Digimon we see a lot of, so a card with fancy new art will be appreciate by fans of the character. The art is a more direct reference to the basis of the character than we often see for Digimon, showing her traveling companions of ChoHakkaimon, Sagomon, and Gokuwmon.

Since Sanzomon was in Hunters, that makes me wonder about Gumdramon and some other Hunters digimon. As for the art, I like the lore reference with all four of them being there. Maybe all four will be in this set.

Her effect could counter certain decks and if anything can at least stall for time if needed.

Not a digimon I tend to think much about. Nice to see it getting art, even if it's design is not one of my favorites.

This is a set based on Fusion/XW, she's here because she was in an episode of Fusion this is not hinting anything in regards to them appearing in any other product

I always thought Gumdramon was the horse dragon (Arresterdramon's kinda horse-like, right?), but the name doesn't match the others and he's never paired with them, so I guess not. But then who is he based on? They wouldn't give him the kinkouji if he was completely unrelated, right?

It bemuses me that there was never any interaction between Sanzomon and ChoHakkaimon in Hunters. Anyways I am curious what Evolution line they'll give Sanzomon, Shakamon seems like an obvious LV6 but I'm less sure about the lower stages.

Hmm...I wonder if this signals that we'll be getting major Hunters characters as well, in which case my assumptions about who would be the Tamer cards in this Set could be completely out if we've got Tagiru and company which could potentially displace Akari and Zenjiro.

with Venusmon now revealed, Sanzomon -> Venusmon could be implied.
I guess we'll wait to see!

There isn't really a strong parallel for Gumdramon in the story as (to my knowledge) there's no dragons with an association to the kinkouji like he has. The closest character to him is probably the dragon horse Yu Long as YH does set up a connection between Gumdramon and Sanzomon and Yu Long is most famously known for being Sanzo's steed after eating his horse, but it's still pretty loose as a connection.
