What a ridiculously good effect this Digimon has, you can use an option card twice for free with it

Also you could stack a lot of Sakuyamons on top of each other with this and reuse the effect 4 times in the same duel

Sakuyamon: Maid Mode
Mega | Data | Deity
[When Digivolving] You may play an Option card with [Plug-In] in its name or a yellow Option card with a memory cost of 5 or less from your hand without paying its memory cost and ignoring its color requirements. Then, instead of trashing the Option card played by this effect, place it on top of your security stack face down.
[When Attacking] This Digimon can digivolve into a card named [Sakuyamon] in your hand for a memory cost of 1, ignoring its digivolution requirements.

Defense Plug-in C
While you have a Tamer in play, you may use this card without meeting its color requirements.
[Main] 1 of your Digimon gains <Blocker> and <Reboot>, and can't be deleted by your opponent's effects until the end of your opponent's next turn.
[Security] Reveal the top 3 cards of your deck. You may play 1 Digimon card with a play cost of 4 or less from among the revealed cards without paying its memory cost. Return the remaining cards to the bottom of your deck in any order. Then, add this card to your hand.

Called it.

Interesting that it can evolve from sakuyamon for 2 and then into sakuyamon for 1, presumabley so you can spam option cards and then recycle them with EX-02 sakuyamon.

Oh great artwork on Sakuyamon Miko mode! And how interesting effect... Sakuyamon can go Miko mode then Miko mode changes into Sakuyamon! Option cards and Plug-in cards support like as if I'm witnessing Rika slashing cards in action to crush her foes.

Sakuyamon: Maid Mode
...is that seriously what it got dubbed as?
It's actually an accurate English equivalent. While everyone specifically thinks of 'French maids', a 'maid' or 'maidservant' just refers to a female domestic servant (technically speaking, the 'maid' part refers specifically to a 'young maiden'). That's what a 'miko' essentially is, down to the maiden part: a temple's maidservant.

That's precisely the problem though? The aim of a translation is to make things clear and using a diminutive of "Maid" for "Shrine Maiden" is unintuitive since everyone's minds just jump to the iconic French maid. They should have either used the proper religious term of Miko or else translated it literally as "Priestess" (since 女=Female and 巫=Shaman).

It makes sense the Digimon line mainly connected to a pro card-game champion gets degenerate comboing cards.

Wait, does that mean Mimi's name is girl-girl?
Edit: Oh, the Japanese for Priestess is Nuwu. nvm.

I agree that the lack of religious context of the term "maid" makes it a very inaccurate choice when that was really the whole point of the original term.
An older way of writing it was for example 神子 with the characters for "god" and "child" in reference to them serving as a medium, having magical powers etc, the point being that there never was a reference to being a maid or servant, and I would argue that the term misstates their actual status.

The "maid" part really only became applicable in modern times, when the whole magical part about actually getting possessed by gods, delivering oracles and performing exorcism became less predominant and their role shifted to assisting with the modern institutionalized form of rituals and such and even then I wouldn't jump to "maidservant" as an accurate description.
And that interpretation simply doesn't fit here.
Sakuyamon Miko Mode clearly represents the original shamanistic concept of the term "Miko", contact with gods, exorcisms and all.

The justification is basically a technicality at this point.
Imagine we had some sort of tool based Digimon with a "screwdriver mode" that ends up dubbed as "drive mode" you could argue all day long that, sure a screwdriver sure does drive screws into things, but in the end "drive" is its own separate word that has a whole range of more prominent meanings before you arrive at that specific one and having to go through layers of etymological gymnastics just to make that connection would make it a failure as a translation.

lol. Some people probably have mistaken an onusa for a mop.
I swear I vaguely remember some dub of an anime from the 90’s saying that the Onusa was a feather duster or something. :ROFLMAO:

yeah, I intentionally referred to it as a mop precisely because of the jelly-filled donut/rice ball Pokemon episode. xD

speaking of which, this talk of "Sakuyamon: Maid Mode" having people think of French maids was reminding me of the weird reoccurring theme of Pokemon dressing up their characters as French maids.
This digimon is very obviously a ripoff of Ash Ketchum: Maid Mode

...I mean, I've seen that done in other fiction, but it was in the context of a robot whose weapons were all construction tools, and it had two tools in the line, one of which was a flathead and the other of which was a Phillips Head as designed by a drunk, so as to push the point home.

Though with that one it was Driver in both languages.
