Ok so far we've got Vande, Deino, and Viper on the discord. I'm going to wait a few more days in case anyone else didn't see the link. It's on the previous page as well as the first. I'll finish the various channels soon and you guys will be able to hash some stuff out.

Might anyone here be interested in trying a URealms campaign? URealms is a RPG with a fantasy setting of magic and warriors and other stuff like that. Optimally this would be played in virtual tabletop, but I've made some custom images to adapt the game for the forum, and, combined with the card viewers on the official website, I don't think playing on here would be too inconvenient. Getting into the game should be relatively easy without having to learn a lot of mechanics, though there are many options for making intricate character builds as well.

I'm interested in a Percy Jackson esque rp, with all types of gods from all over the world.

I had an idea for an rp that would sorta be similar to the anime in the sense that there is an adventure in the digital world. One player would sign up and they would have to answer some questions. Some for their appearance or character info, and another pack of questions, sorta like a survey, to determine who their partner digimon would be. Just like in the anime, where they couldnt choose their digimon partner, it was just given to them (Well, through most of the animes anyway.) and the story would be like as long as an adventure should be. Though, i'll keep it interesting throughout, to not make it boring. And as for the new players, instead of starting directly where the first player is, they would plop right where the first player is, the more players, the bigger the group gets (thats too create a mass in power using the forumers). Though it would be advised to read through the story of the other player. The reason they wouldnt start in different places is so i can describe actions or speak to the players as a group, rather than respond to two different adventures. Even trying to talk so one person in a group would seem easier. So yeah, story would be slightly mentioned, but uncovered as they go along. Thinking about calling it Digimon Perfect Zero. Hows that sound?

I've been considering joining up here to run some RPGs, but my projects are pretty ambitious. The idea is that it's essentially two parallel-running RPs (separate universes) that eventually intersect. I've run them elsewhere, but it might be too ambitious here. Any interest from a dedicated team of RPers?

Universal Overview:

Creation began at a single point: Yggdrasil. The World Tree. The Tree of Life. All-Father. All-Mother. God. Goddess. Alpha. Omega. Genesis. Yggdrasil was the font of all Creation: the Miracle of Dawn. From the first spark of Yggdrasil's consciousness the Multiverse and all things within it came into being.

When the Multiverse was young and small, Yggdrasil walked among its creations. It guided them; it helped them and watched them grow. It provided laws and rules; peace and order. It provided its creations with the free will to follow or defy it as they saw fit. But as Creation changed - as Free Will and Life took hold and moved things beyond even Yggdrasil's wildest dreams - it became harder for Yggdrasil to maintain alone. So Yggdrasil called upon its most noble acolytes to govern the minutia of the Multiverse in its stead

Unholy Crusade said:
Saga is a digital world that exists alongside our own, closely interconnected to the growing rate of human development and technology. Throughout history the two worlds have often interacted; it was the digimon of Saga that influenced the mythologies of the human world - Analog. Its gods, angels, and monsters influencing humans through a sense of shared consciousness.

On the plane of Saga, peace and order was kept by the High Council, a collection of gods that governed the digital world. Their influence and authority kept the would-be warring blocs of Saga in check; they served as mediators and peace-keepers when tensions and old feuds rose along faction lines. This served to maintain the Balance, Homeostasis - the fragile peace that allowed Saga to continue existing peacefully. The High Council accomplished this through use of the thirteen Royal Knights. This mighty order of digimon, brought together ages ago to overcome an otherwise-insurmountable foe, had protected Saga; intervening in times of cataclysm and steering the world away from destruction.

It was only in the recent decades that human technology and society advanced enough to allow crossing over into the Digital World. The first human child entered completely by accident. But as the worlds began to know of one another, more followed. These humans partnered with young digimon and set out to explore the vast reaches of Saga. The High Council saw fit to allow this, and encouraged a partnership with the human world.

At first, things seemed calm. There were negotiations with the humans - Tamers, as they were called - on their rights within the Digital World itself and the nature of their bond with digimon. The Tamers showed respect for the digimon and their bond with their partners was equal and fair. There was peace and cooperation.

For a while, at least...

Not all were happy with this declaration. Galahad, the Alphamon, the newly-appointed High Commander of the Royal Knights, saw the human-digimon partnership as an abomination, a subjugation of digimon will and freedom. Galahad decreed the Tamers a blight against digimon the world over and a threat to the very nature of Saga. He called for all loyal digimon to take up arms against the Tamers. The High Council, however, intervened and set forth a decree forbidding all military actions against humans.

Now Galahad, infuriated by this perceived betrayal by the Council, has ceded from their authority. He has called the Royal Knights and a cadre of other digimon from all cornders of the world to his cause, and launched a bloody crusade to banish the humans from the face of Saga - by force. Under his leadership, the Royal Knights carry out this campaign without mercy or restraint, destroying partner digimon, shattering digivices and attempting to force the Tamers to go home.

The Council, outraged by these bloody and pointless acts, has summoned a group of warriors to its presence with one aim: to stop the Royal Knights before the world is plunged into war and consumed by this Unholy Crusade.
Civil War said:
On the digital world of Eon, peace and order was kept by the Harmonious Ones, the great sovereigns of the digital world. Their influence and authority kept the would-be warring blocs of Eon in check; they served as mediators and peace-keepers when tensions and old feuds rose along faction lines. This served to maintain the Balance, Homeostasis - the fragile peace that allowed Eon to continue existing peacefully.

The Harmonious Ones did this through use of the World's Memories: the Chronicles. These eight powerful artifacts allowed the Harmonious Ones to gaze into the hearts and minds of all Digimon under their rule, to share these thoughts and emotions across the entire world and promote a sense of unified understanding through bonds of camaraderie. The Harmonious Ones, however, existed in cycles; and the end of their cycle was close at hand. To prepare the world for their coming absence, they chose capable leaders from among the various clans, as Yggdrasil had before them. They built the Eight Realms around these Digimon and bestowed each Realm with a corresponding Chronicle. The leaders were tasked with utilizing the Chronicles' powers to both help their kingdom prosper and bind them to the hearts and minds of the other kingdoms as well. They would create a unified world.

Their task complete, the Harmonious Ones retreated into the fractal code of the aether beyond Eon, leaving rule of Eon to the Eight Realms.

But these new leaders didn't see the value of a unified understanding; they saw the Chronicles as means to power. Conflict between the kingdoms erupted once again and Eon succumbed to war. The bloodshed and carnage of the battlefield, however, distorted the foundations of the digital world and gave birth monstrous entity of unfathomable destructive capability. This being came to be known as the Great Destroyer, and it carved a terrible path across the world, fueled by the conflict between the Eight Realms. It was only when the Eight Realms came together that they were able to deprive the Great Destroyer of his sustaining power; and their champions were able to defeat it. Finally understanding the role they played in keeping the Balance, the Eight Realms gathered together and coded the Realmpact - a binding program that guaranteed cooperation between the Eight Realms and prevented them from raising arms against one another.

And for years the Realmpact held. Eon was at peace.

For a while, at least.

The Digimon of the Metal Empire - who possessed the Chronicle known as "Adamantine, the Awakener" - were fastest to change. Their innate technological prowess and intellect combined with the Awakener allowed them to develop sophisticated technology and coding processes that eventually enabled them to secretly code themselves out of the Realmpact. The Metal Empire began to expand and usurp the other Realms, all under the façade of peace and the Realmpact by claiming to be "equal."

As the Metal Empire grew, the other Realms shrank drastically. Their lands were slowly stripped from them, right from under their noses. The Empire didn't claim that they were superior, but they knew it. Believing the current status quo to be the will of the Realmpact, the other Realms submitted to the authority of the Metal Empire, resulting in a peaceful takeover.

Still, the Empire didn't refer to it as such. They considered it to be a union of all the Realms. In fact, representatives from the Eight Realms were asked to reside in the Empire's technologically-advanced cities as ambassadors, so that peaceful communications and the will of the "Realmpact" could be continued. The other Realms were subjugated under the authority of the Empire and the supposed "Realmpact." They could do nothing without the Empire's permission, nor could they revolt lest they break the terms of the Realmpact. Only by breaking all ties with the Realms could a Digimon even take up arms against the Empire. But these "Realmless" - these "Ronin" - face impossible odds in the Empire's D-Brigade and Crack Team; specialized forces of mechanized Digimon with orders to "keep the peace." The Empire declared these soldiers the enforcers of the Realmpact; that their will and word was law.

Against the overwhelming power of these enforcers, the Realmless were swiftly brought to heel. Limited by their involvement with the Realmpact, none of the other Realms dared to stand against the Empire's wishes. Only one Digimon dared to continue the battle; one of the last surviving Ronin; the lion that dared to call himself "Bancho" and spit in the face of the Empire.

His name: Goliath Leonhardt. And by sworn oath to his dead comrades, he has vowed to lead his Realmless to victory, freedom, and (though he doesn't know it) the truth.

But time is short. The Balance has shifted. Darkness stirs.

So... I have a proposition for peeps out there. I'm looking to start up a 1x1 digmon RP. It would be entirely built by us, using lore from various Digimon sources (games, shows, movies, headcanon, etc.)

I'm looking for an RP partner who, not only is fun to role play with and who's interested in taking on some world/story building, but also someone interested in chatting out of character!

If you're interested, toss me a message.

Hey all!

First off, I've never taken part in an RP before but have wanted to try my hand at it as they do seem fun if enough people are on board.

That being said, however, I do agree that we should aim for more collaboration among posters here. I feel that as long as we have the following we should be okay:

  • An experienced GM that can help prod the story along whenever needed and
  • The backstory/premise is interesting for enough people to captivate their attention and thus join
  • A short enough RP that people feel like they can commit to

Some questions I have for everyone however:

  • What do the most successful RP's out there look like?
  • Are there any best practices we can learn from and take on here?
  • What's the best format to host an RP in?
  • Do Digimon RP's ever involve combat? If so, how do the mechanics work? e.g tabletop, roll-a-dice style? Using stats from the card game and random number generators?

What are some ideas that people have that they would be interested in RP'ing? Perhaps we can list some out so we can find some common ground on what we could potentially do. For instance I'm mainly a fan of the Adventure-verse but am down for anything Tamers or Frontier as well (haven't seen any of the later seasons...).

There are a lot of good ideas out there (this thread included), however the biggest thing right now is lack of agreement and action. We should just have something set up that allows people to just get started and thus build some momentum on this forum.

Either way, I would definitely be interested in RP'ing and am open to pretty much all ideas. Count me in for whoever's willing to begin one!

i´d say it is key to do it in a live scenario, via chat or something, all the RPs that have been "play by post" died super early.
Set dates where everyone got 2 or 3 hours of time for a chapter or a short adventure should be good.
under that premise i would be okay to GM or play, if it´s yet another play by post then all i got to say is "lol, no. good luck with that"

as for the system, it needs to be simple maybe a couple attributes people can invest points by themself and each action is a combination of 2-3 attributes that you have to roll a dice on.
i also recommend against a leveling system, just takes to much planning ahead.

This sounds interesting and definitely doable. The only trick would be figuring out times as some folks may be in very different time zones.

So in a live chat scenario (like IRC for instance) I would imagine that people can make shorter posts considering everyone only has a few hours to collaborate?

yeah that´s a good point it allows for better roleplay too since you can have more active conversations that go back and forth or can just say yes/no or other short replies, it´s more dynmaic and you don´t have to come up with a wall of text for each post.

That sounds great. You have any existing ideas for an RP?

Hey, we have an RP forum? Nice.

Been thinking of running an RP that's set in an AU version of the Digimon multiverse.

Not sure if I want to go with a vaguely medieval fantasy or Gothic horror take on the setting, though.
