Feels like deja vu.

Bandai has announced (2) that they are delaying the release of Dim Card Set EX2 Digimon Tamers.

In short, they believe they didn't consider the similarity to the GP Dims, along with the beginning of pre-orders.

They will be going over what they plan for these Dims to review and are postponing the release.

Updates regarding this release will be given in mid-October 2021.

Users in Japan have reported getting order cancellation emails.

Dim Cart Set EX1 Digimon Adventure: has, based on restock and sell out notices from Bandai, been among the most popular Dim Cards.

The first set of Dim Card GPs, also featuring Digimon Tamers, had pre-orders closed prior to a full week, and the GP line was discontinued a few days later. They are scheduled to be released this month.

Well, that's a surprise, especially as the similarities in question seem to be intentional in the first place.

Given that the GP line was discontinued, I didn't think the similarities are that much of an issue. It would've been more inclusive towards the people that missed out on the GP DIMs.

I'm assuming the revised EX2 will replace the recolors, as well as the alternative non-Tamers Ultimates (Kuzuhamon, MedievalDukemon, etc).
Unfortunately, Lopmon's dark line is also not Tamers-themed, so that could also fall in the line of fire as well, which would be a shame (though I understand why Andiramon would be replaced, since the two Andiramons are way too similar).

The whole thing is weird. Was there a lot of fan backlash?

Surely Bandai was aware how similar they were when these things were designed.

And Bandai was DEFINITELY aware of what they were doing when they announced four new Dims that were only releasing them in a gacha system.

They weren't even that similar, the gacha dims felt way more like the Black Roar and Shadow Howl trial dims with how limited those lines were.

Mine just got refunded from ZeninTCG as I expected would happen.
Thank you kindly! New here, and still learning how to navigate.

based on the Japanese comments I've seen on twitter and the digimon partner's site, they weren't happy with the Gps so far coming off as halfsized versions of the EXs (for nearly the same price too)

I think its just marketing strategy, its more profitable to sell each individual rather in pack since have a lot of preorders after promotions.. its tamers guys the price also good for 3 dims.. single line dim shadow howl also dont have problem with ridiculous price.. its their strategy

Somewhere.
makes sense the main differnece with the Black roar/shadow howl stuff is they were promotional give away trial versions -so not something you had to pay for . while the full versions are clearly the whole - pay for them set up.

The GP dims however are while a bigger compared to the trial versions were 1 something you had to pay for, and while sure EX2 has more adults and perfects than the GP series... mega wise they are just at +1... and does it really matter if you add in 3 perfects when in the end your only adding 1 mega? I can certainly see why people would be dissapointed especially with pre orders going up so close to the shipping of the GP stuff if i'm reading this correct. I mean it'd be fine if they kept 2 of the GP megas and gave 2 differnet megas... heck seems odd not including Crimson Mode in a Tamers focused guilmon dim...

That’s sad to read. I hope the changes won’t be that much. The Terriermon Dim was perfect as is. Maybe re-arrange the Devas but the Terriermon line and both Lopmon lines were excellent additions. I hope that one remains untouched. Hopefully they only change certain repeats (Medival and Kuzanohamon) and rearrange the Devas, while leaving the new Digimon in the Dim like Kuzanohamon Mikomode in.

Odd move. Wishful thinking on my end would be to add another one or two sets with 2-4 other Tamers mons and spread out the devas a bit so Guilmon and Terriermon can have their full dark lines as well as other more appropriate evolutions for everyone.

Watch, they'll just pop monodramon and impmon into the set and charge $20 more.

That revision better include crimson mode Gallantmon.

@TheFirstTamer They never show the unlockable "boss" Digimon early, so Crimson Mode likely already was in the setup.

Or split Terriermon and Lopmon into separate DIMs. Or both with two waves of three or three waves of 2.

I really don’t get this, the selling point for these for me WAS that they were the Gatchas but expanded!

Great this will be a big headache… already payed a proxy $50 to get these for me and I may have to eat the proxy fees if this gets canceled… only to have to pay them again when the revised listing goes up.

Problem was the Japanese people that bought the GP dims complained that they where sold as exclusive. A lot of people payed lots of money there trying to get them all themself or paying 3rd parted sellers to get them becouse they where told they where exclusive. Now there is a cheaper option that is not random and has more Digimon. So to calm the upset people they are going to revise these to not be as close to the GP dims. Basically they are taking to opinion of people that payed to get the GP dims over the people that did not buy them.
