I think I voted for Wezen as a joke but I might have voted for Kaus instead. They're both so oddly specific that they kinda catch my eye over betel who is about as "standardly cool" as you can get (it helps none that he's already shown up in the show but hasn't done anything too cool yet) besides even if wezen is a bit unconventional for a MC partner mon, they always have Gurus in their back pocket, ready to pull out at any moment backed by what will probably be a much stronger narrative push than a mere transformation to get into fights.

"Standardly cool", that seems to be a good way of putting it. My problem with BetelGammamon is that he seems like a design-by-committee, over-used anime protagonist. 9 times out of 10, they're based around the color red (a Super Sentai staple, granted) and/or a fire elemental. Of course, not helping is that he goes from a rare Virus protagonist to a common as dirt Vaccine dino (thankfully, he has alternate evolutions, but I can't say I'm fond of how Betel seems like it's getting pushed as the main, being the first and thus far only evo 6 episodes into Ghost Game, AND the only new Perfect in the Vital Bracelet seems to be directly derived from it).

Maaan. I always end up voting for the one that never wins. I voted KausGammamon just because I like him the most. I figured it would be betel, Kaus, wezen. Also why didn’t they show gulus as a choice? I still would’ve picked kaus though. I pick the unpopular I guess. But I really didnt think wezen would have gotten first..

It's not in the DRB. They're prob keeping it secret even tho it's already revealed in the vital bracelet. They thinking no one really bought it compared to watching the anime i guess.

But the Vital Bracelet did exclude Gammamon's Ultimate (and god willing, alternate Perfects). They probably could have excluded Gulus as well, but maybe it's a sign that he's still gonna appear fairly early on albeit later than the others (that, and Clockmon did already foreshadow him).

Yeah but canoweissmon isn't in the den either so they're "hiding" him too till he shows up in the anime. Only reason they added wezen and Kaus is because they're named dropped in the opening

This was a brilliant result! The fewer humanoid/bipedal designs they favor the better. (The irony of dragons/dinosaurs being probably their second most overused option is not going unnoticed as I am typing this.)

If we had a design that basically looked like Betel Gammamon with KausGammamon's head, that would be my favorite (hate how Betel Gammamon's head looks like a giant Gammamon head on an adult-level's body, hate Kaus Gammamon's flying gimmick and how it is applied). For now WezenGammamon is indeed the most interesting of the three despite any perceived flaws, and GulusGammamon is of course great/excellent. (Also it kind of showcases how they could have just gone with monochromon if people just wanted a quadrupled dinosaur but that's a discussion for another time.)

I guess I didn't think of it as a recolor because they essentially got released/announced in the same era and I like Gulus better. I think the arrangement of its horns makes it look more menacing which fits the theme, and that the arrangement of the facial features also works well with the theme of a 'bad'/'corrupted' digimon whereas I thought they were dreadful for the simpler/cuter Betel. Other details like the golden talons on Gulus' feet and the pointy tail are also great touches whereas Betel didn't have anything similarly thematic going on that does not carry over to Gulus' design, making Gulus the most interesting/enhanced design overall and as such the most notable one in my opinion.

The evolutions are very clearly a different case than the other cameos. with each of them getting a unique background with their names printed clearly. He was probably told that those will be important, so he absolutely needs to put them in the op, but he's otherwise free to put in whoever he wants.
