Pokémon Sun and Moon - Thread contains spoilers

I'm on the way for my second trial. Thanks to a friend I have all 3 starters in my party now. My Pichu evolved into Pikachu. I also have Trumbeak and Magnemite in my party.
I'm somewhat enjoying the game, but still unsure of the changes. The lack of gyms (in lieu of the trials) is somewhat of a downer to me. The first trial was ok, it felt somewhat Zelda-esque.

And Megaman EXE did it before them. And the Robopon game series did it before. Even a Star version. Clever but it is Current Year so that joke only barely works once.

It feels kind of weird to post on a thread that hasn't gotten a reply in a few weeks, but hope I can join in!

I have some ideas for my ideal Pokemon team, based on attacks that can hit multiple opponents in battle. They are:

Popplio
Pikachu
Growlithe
Rockruff
Alolan Vulpix
Bounsweet

And I'll be waiting for Pokemon Sun this Christmas because Alolan Vulpix is supposedly exclusive to that game. I really hope I'll be able to get my whole Pokemon team without completing too much of the story, I like getting a full team before getting too far in the game.

But you know what I think is dumb? Having customization options exclusive to each version. Most female customization options are Moon-exclusive so I won't have a lot of good ones to choose from. I did hear that after beating the game you can be able to unlock them, I hope that's the case, but I feel it would have been better to have them from the start.

For the team you want all are found pretty early on, attention thou to search for Rockruff because it is pretty hidden in the first island. Alolan Vulpix comes a bit late but that's the only one, it's also relatively hard to evolve, don't forget to upgrade your mining island in the pokepellago when available. Bounsweet is at the start of the mid-game but you can get it slightly earlier via an in-game trade.

Thanks! It's kinda unfortunate that I won't be able to get all the Pokemon near the start, but I'll try my best. I remember catching an Eevee for my team in Pokemon X (I'm not a fan of that game tbh) but I don't know how late I was in the game to get it.

@DigiAmy that looks like a pretty decent team to work with. I'm not entirely sure about the reasoning of them being able to hit multiple targets though. As far as I know the strength of those kinds of attacks has been nerfed (at the very least in the Battle Royal but I have no idea about doubles). You can still use that strategy but just keep that in mind and you should be good.

I've started putting together my competitive team. I've decided to just do IV breeding rather than hyper training because it would just take too long to get to level 100 to do it. Anyways for my choices:
Mimikyu
Toucannon
Oranguru
Golisopod
Toxapex
And I haven't decided on my final member yet. I want something that'll diversify my team some more (because I have 2 Normal types and 2 Water types). I'll probably end up going with one of the starters but I'm open to suggestions.

So basically those attacks are just weak in Battle Royal? That's kinda lame... But I guess it's to keep the game balanced. I also was planning to use moves that help boost a Pokemon's stats, such as Defense or Attack.

Tbh I hope you can still get the exp share early on in the game. It might not be for everyone but exp share really helped me out in X. I seriously don't have the patience to train 6 Pokemon each to get to certain levels all the time.

Anybody know how many battles are there per category of the Battle Tree? So far, I've been able to get a straight win record of 9 wins with a team consisting of my Incineroar (with an Incinium Z), Tapu Koko (with a Tapunium Z), Mudsdale (with the Stamina ability and a Sitrus Berry) and Komala (with the Normalium Z). I just wanna know how long before we meet Hau again, so that we know what to do. (Funny story: my little brother tried catching Tapu Fini with a Beast Ball of all things )
Also, do we need the National Dex before we can get whereabouts of Kalos legendaries from QR codes??

Finally finished Pokémon Sun, man this had to be one of the best Pokémon games in a long time.

If I had to think of any complaints, the "call for help" ability that wild Pokémon have is annoying since they can easily spam it and I've seen it be used like 8 or 9 times in a row. From a story perspective, I did think that the focus was stretched thinly between the Trial Challenges, Team Skull and the Aether Paradise and as a result several characters didn't receive adequate development in my opinion.

I definitely hope that they make a sequel to S/M. There were several Z Crystals that weren't used by Trial Captains, and you wouldn't need to make any new Pokémon - just introduce some more old ones with some Alolan forms (preferably from Gen 2).

Well that would suck since I have no plans to get a Switch.

Isn't that still just a rumor at the moment or did I miss the confirmation? As far as I know the pokemon staff has indeed said they're working on a game for the switch and people are saying it's code named Pokémon Stars but I've heard nothing saying it's guaranteed to be related to Sun and Moon in any way other than the fact that it'll probably contain 7th generation pokemon in it.

EDIT: well in today's Pokémon Direct they announced Pokémon Ultra Sun and Pokémon Ultra Moon for the 3DS. New forms for Solgaleo and Lunala that look surprisingly similar to Necrozma. The game's will be released November 17 of this year

I'm super late to this topic, but my thoughts are thus:

I'm very confused at the direction they're going with this. It's an alternate telling of the original S/M story as far as I can tell? If so then they're gonna have to show off some seriously good stuff to convince me to buy Ultra S/M. I'm all for staying in the Alola region a little longer, but I was kinda hoping for a sequel a la Black/White 2.

Also, I would love to see more Alolan forms, preferably ones outside of Gen 1.

Honestly a lot of fans I've talked to are also pretty disappointed with the idea of these new games. Generation 5 at least had a sequel with new playable characters but if USUM are just alternate stories then you're still playing as the same character (not that it's a huge deal because the characters are entirely dependent on you but still).

They haven't done anything to really build up hype for the games (although there's still time) but yeah I'm gonna need more info before I consider getting one of these. New Alolan forms or Ultra Beasts would probably help, but I'd need to see that the main story is mostly different

I have no clue how they do this anymore. I thought they'd do Grey, they do 2, I thought they'd do Z, they do SunMoon. Now, No clue what they do, They do Ultra. ...Sure. Makes sense. I guess. I wonder how this will turn out. Since we know next to nothing about it.
