It feels like yesterday that I made the thread about Pokémon Journeys but as one door closes, another one opens...

This time it's quite a tremendous change as Ash/Pikachu only have eleven episodes left before they depart and a brand new Pokémon anime with a new pair of leads will take their place. I am cautiously optimistic as I felt after Ash becoming World Champion there wasn't anything else for him to do as a character but I didn't think the writers would have the stomach to outright replace him. But here we are.

What are your thoughts on the situation?

As someone who doesn't watch the series but wouldn't have minded giving it a shot if it wasn't so interminable, this should have been done a long time ago. How many hundreds of Satoshi episodes will there be after these last 11? Too damn many, I'm sure.

Well. Maybe if they made a "normal" season in Galar instead of it being Pokemon Go, then maybe it would have lasted longer & kept Ash. But let's see how things end for him. Since we all agreed that it couldn't go any farther.

Well I never thought I'd live long enough to finally see the end of Ash's journey. :p

I remember back when the Raikou Special aired, thinking that was going to be the next series (disappointed it wasn't).
I'm curious to what tone they'll go for with this one. Something more like the Manga?

In some ways it makes sense in retrospect as from what I've heard they were struggling with keeping the character fresh and it was even to the point of shifts in format, but even so I thought for sure it'd be something they'd keep going with as having the character was safer than not. It's surprising to see that they're finally going to move on from his story after so long.

Ah yes, it wouldn't be a Pokémon anime without Pikachu it seems.

The ENG tweet doesn't mention it, but Friede is a Professor by the way.

Why did they keep using Pikachu? ...Hat. It's a nice hat. But this could be interesting. Really.

New trailer for the new series.

Not a fan of them calling the protagonist "Liko" though. :(

If it helps, maybe someone will say it's Riko instead. Or it will be in the West. That is always an issue people say.

Another new trailer, this time focusing more on the Professor and his crew of weirdos.

The members of the "Rising Volteckers" led by Pokemon Professor Freed (voice actor: Taku Yashiro) have been revealed for the new series of the TV anime "Pocket Monsters" (Pokémon), which will start broadcasting on April 14, 2023.

Metagross' partner is "Mecha-lover" Orio (voiced by Ayane Sakura), Rockruff's partner is a "good cook" Murdoch (voiced by Kenta Miyake), Lucky's partner is "treatment specialist" Molly (voiced by Kei Shindo), guy who looks like a fisherman is Landau (voice actor: Ikkyu Juku). The airship that serves as the base for the “Rising Volteckers” has also been unveiled.

A guy named Jill? That’s a new one. Wonder if it’s in reference to something.

I love to see Rhydon, I'm very meh towards Golduck. I like both their hair a lot

I think they're just antagonists. We might not have a villain team. We didn't really in SV. But they're interesting enough. So far.

And the last episode was today. ...The 24th in Japan. But this is new and could be fun to watch.
