New Digimon Manga is 'Digimon Dreamers'

We have details of the new Digimon manga 'Digimon Dreamers' from Tenya Yabuno himself! This is just a few days after getting the official announcement that a new manga was coming from Saikyo Jump.

Updated and in color promo art has a different design for the main character.


Each chapter will be a 10 page comedy manga.


He notes that the design change for the main character is because at the time they put together the notice the design for the main character hadn't been finalized.




He also posted a bit of Pulsemon art.

He says he will do his best with Pulsemon to convey the fun of Digimon to kids.

How the hell a kid's show doesn't work more for children? The important is the quality not the target audience, also we are getting a horror themed anime, why care about a 10 page manga?

Not only that we should be happy that Digimon is aiming for a new public instead of just abusing the nostalgia of grown up adults over and over again.

I noticed this with the previous image, but Pulsemon looks kind of… sinister with black claws instead of white. Wonder why the change.

Digimon always is gonna be for kids, its a kids show, that can be more mature, or more childish, that can try to aim a more old fanbase with nostalgia or a totally new with things like appli monsters.
We are talking about what we think about aiming exclusively for kids.

I just realized that of all subtitles of digimon media, "Dreamers" or "Dream" hasn't been used yet. As we know word "Dream" is also Identical to the franchise.

Except for the Pokemon Clefairy manga, these types of gag manga that tie in with a slightly more serious franchise never seem to have longevity or success so color me a mix of skeptical and disappointed.

These projects usually just devolve into 1 or 2 volumes of poop and gross out jokes that are highly disposable, forgettable, and don’t have any of a setting’s flavor or lore.

So anyone think there'll be a joke about the word Biggest with the title of the manga. Or does that joke only work in English. But I see this as having some gag parts in it. Which isn't bad.

My only real concern with it being a comedy based manga is that there will be little to no plot. I know its possible to mix comedy into a story and such so the story can definitely lean more towards a comedy, though the idea that it could end up as basically a series of one shot skits doesn't sit well with me personally.

I think it's probably a fair prediction that a ten page comedy manga won't really have any plot, and isn't really intended to have a long shelf life. Which isn't my thing, so I won't be reading, but still, it's fine, it'll give the rest of the franchise a boost.

We may say many things about Xros Wars anime, but its manga was hilarious and pretty good. Being a gag manga doesn't mean it will be bad.
