New Century Promo Video & Info

We have a new promotional video for Digimon: New Century. (We mirrored the video since the original link doesn't embed well.)

The Chinese mobile game has popped up with details once in awhile over an extended period as the game is being worked on.

The new one features an expanded version of the intro animation we've seen before, featuring the song 'Zero: No Place to Start' by Ayumi Miyazaki.


The promo video also has Mr. Yamada from Bandai Namco Shanghai talk about various details for the game which 4gamer goes over...
The game has been in development for over three years.
The digital world of the game will be "vast and complex".
The story will have some relation to the Digimon anime.
At one point in the past a potential Japanese release has been brought up, nothing was mentioned regarding this this time.

Re-watching the opening video and looking at the in game evolution trees made me realise that the 6 Digimon fighting in the opening are the final stages of the in game characters partners. I mean tbf the playable Digimon even share the same voice actors as the MC's partner Digimon. the main thing that clocked it is the fact that Leopardmon is the Mega of Kotemon in New Century and that Kotemon and Leopardmon share a vioce actor in the game, and Kotemon is one of the MC

I've been doing regular check ups on New Century because it features quite a lot of Digimon that have never had 3D models elsewhere.
I still have no idea why this game has Lunamon's whole Digimon Story Dusk evolution line and Coronamon's whole Story Dawn evolution line except for Flaremon; like just heck Flaremon in particular I guess

In Soul Chaser they have Fanbeemon > Flymon > CannonBeemon > TigerVespamon so it's not the first time one part of a line was randomly ignored lol

Coronamon isn't playable just yet anyway with those guys just being NPCs/wild enemies digimon/raid bosses etc. I figure once Coronamon is actually playable Flaremon will be with him

You know, at some point I'd forgotten this game never actually got a full release yet lol. China is obviously a huge market, so here's hoping this works out for Digimon. I can't imagine we'll be seeing this any time soon in English, but I hope it comes out in Japan soon enough too.

You control five Digimon

There's lots of footage over the last year of this game on Youtube and Bilibili if you want to check out gameplay. since they first announced the game a few years ago theyve allowed you to play it for a few months, then they wipe everyone's data take it down for a while then put it back up again. most recent wipe was two days ago.

So, this is official and not another knock off game?

it's by bandai china, and has been included in bandai japan investor reports a few times with the end of this interview mentioning it might come to japan

Didn't Mon's Hackmon evolve to Jesmon already? It's listed on Wikimon at least, lol.

Slightly related, but it's a little funny to think Hackmon is partnered to the protagonist and is also one of the few Digimon that didn't get any art for the new game as of yet lol. Even the old Kodokugumon got some, but poor Hackmon didn't.

The game recently retconned it. At first the protag was just a faceless first person character. When the game came back for the second time the MC now had their own design and hackmon is your partner. Story was the same (the parts I saw) with you and hackmon basically just walking round and watching everything happen. They prob actively do stuff once you're passed chapter 3 (to avoid retconning the story too much )

As for art, hackmon, baohackmon, and saviorhackmon are in the in game pokedex with new official art (no jesmon though) but still remains Npc which makes me wonder why he's in the field guide. Also has me assume the protags hackmon had reached saviorhackmon but I didn't see that far. Just no one has datamined the art of the new Digimon (hackmon line and Terriermon line)

Well that explains a few things. In that case, I hope people are able to datamine the rest of the art for Digimon in the game at some point, but maybe it’d be best to wait for the full game at that point.

Hopefully they iron out the stuff with Hackmon,I personally do prefer playing as a character with a face and with a partner. For example, I can’t find anything on a voice actor for Hackmon, which implies it doesn’t currently have any lines yet? I hope that gets ironed out.

I didn’t think about that, but that is pretty likely. We’re already getting to the X-Antibody forms for the Royal Knights (probably since Linkz already introduced most of them so they have those models lying around lol), so I could see that for sure.

Hackmon will have a VA. it'll say in his profile in the games pokedex. But that needs someone to open it whilst they're playing. So ye a lot of info is hard to come across as it's relied on people playing it and just happening to do things.
