Liollmon, Liamon, & LoaderLeomon Previews for Booster Set EX-05

The Digimon Card Game Twitter (2) has updated with card previews from Booster Set EX-05 Animal Colosseum. This time it's Liollmon, Liamon, & LoaderLeomon.

Liollmon features it doing what cats do, with some fun foreground and background details. Liamon features some nicely detailed art of it protecting some baby Digimon from some annoyances in a storm. LoaderLeomon features it helping a team of Digimon looking for a few different forms of something familiar.

Hm, guess I made the right call.

But with promotional material suggesting that Leomon X is in the set as well I have to wonder if MetalGarurumon X will actually get an evo line in the set. Chaosdramon was also kinda loose in EX-03 unless one counts it as a WarGrowlmon evolution.

This line definitely fits as the Bancho Leomon evo line. Yet Loader Leomon can still work well as a stage before Heavy Leomon. I guess like how Thunderballmon can work as a evo stage before regular Mamemon and Metal Mamemon.

So this is it eh. The Leomon deck can actually be a thing and i am satisfied. De-digivolve and DP reduction is a perfect way to bypass a lot of protection if the decks attacking over suspended stuff don't work. Oh and LoaderLeomon can give Blocker which is acceptable i guess. It would have been nice if Leomon X and Panjyamon X got some versions made to work with this but honestly deckbuilding is already looking to be a nightmare with so many pieces.

Liollmon chasing Chuumon is so cute. Seeing Digimon do normal animal stuff is really cute.

Liolmon has Botamon/Chibomon/Pichimon in the background, Liamon has Koromon/DemiVeemon/Bukamon, LoaderLiomon has Agumon/Veemon/Betamon, Bancholeomon has Wargreymon/Ulforce/MetalSeadramon. Actually really cool theres a storyline on these four cards. Reminds me of the Palmon/Togemon/Lillymon card that had Aurururumon/Weedmon/Blossomon on them and the artist said it was the same characters on all three and they were bffs. Random choices but cool from the artists to give us random storyilne fun hope the artist or Bandai come out to confirm it so it's not speculation but I suppose it doesn't matter that much, it's just more fun when it's actually officially said

Maybe, but I don't see it. It has indirect support for the card in that it's a cyborg and sure Monodramon is a reincarnation of Milleniummon who is also part Machinedramon, but there was never a real connection between Cyberdramon and Chaosdramon made and EX-03 Cyberdramon is just kind of a filler card.


The reason I'm bringing up WarGrowlmon in the first place is that it was in fact an evolution possible on the Vpet (and Chaosdramon does look like if Guilmon became a Machindramon over time, but I digress).

I myself hope the artist continues this story in other cards like GrapLeomon and Panjyamon (from other booster later) to include the remaining Greymon, V-dramon, Seadramon and MetalGreymon, AeroV-dramon, MegaSeadramon. It could deepen the background story (pun intended), like this Liamon evolves into many Perfect level Leomon before finally becoming BanchoLeomon.

I like when Spareribs does this. Reminds me the "story" of Falcomon and evos in EX4.

Ahh so it wasn't DW2 reference but it is actually Liollmon being the great father figure to Betamon, Agumon and Vmon to raise them to Ultimate levels... He is much better tamer than us all. I must worship his leadership skills.

IF he actually raised them to beyond Ultimate levels like Omegamon, Aegisdramon and Imperialdramon Paladin Mode, then BanchoLeomon must have to fuse!

I like it when the artist do little things like this, it makes getting the whole set of cards related to the Digimon more of a treat since you can see the story evolve as you follow through them. For this one it's cute that they had a story of an older Liollmon taking care of his younger friends throughout their evolutions, and then seeing them all grown up together as battle buds in the BanchoLeomon card gives a nice and fitting conclusion for it.

I absolutely love how despite these 3 arts depicting seemingly unrelated events, the scene composition remaining the same of the depicted digimon focusing on something in the bottom left corner conveys to us subconsciously that this is the same digimon as well as there being a consistent trio of cameos between the Liollmon, Liamon, LoaderLeomon, and BanchoLeomon cards! Seeing little snippets of its life gives a nice feeling of growing up alongside the digimon.
I do wish Spareribs kept the scene composition in the BanchoLeomon card, though.

This Liollmon card is very good for having an effect reminiscent of BT1 T.K. for 3 memory that can assist in setting up its own digivolution while also having an inherited effect

Alrau's evolutions weren't random; Weedmon and Blossomon were its evolutions in Dawn and Dusk. Blossomon and Lilymon couldn't hit mega w/out jogressing in those games (since Lalamon's tree stole Rosemon and Lotusmon) so it's fitting they showed up in a set of alt arts that didn't come w/ lvl 6's.

My initial thought was just that it's fun to have the lesser-seen Leomon interacting with other Digimon, but wow. Took me a moment to notice there's an evolution storyline there. Pretty sweet that Liollmon's acting as their senpai through and through.

Also, a little intrigued at the implication that Betamon evolved from its Cyber Sleuth Baby, Pukamon. As much as I like Betamon's original legacy as Koromon's other evolution (though it rarely evolves from it, especially outside of Digital Monster throwbacks), I can't say that Pukamon doesn't make a lot of sense (both for being aquatic, and for sharing quite a few physical features).

Other detail I like, V-mon, Betamon, and Agumon hold ores that resemble their Baby I forms' colors. Blue (Chibimon), Gray (Pitchmon), Black (Botamon).

Since LoaderLeomon is a miner, that could be digizoids. Which interestingly used in the trio's Ultimate forms in BanchoLeomon card.
