Leviamon & Anubimon Parallel Previews for Booster Set EX-05

The Digimon Card Game Twitter (2) has updated with card previews from Booster Set EX-05 Animal Colosseum. This time it's Leviamon & Anubimon.

This time we get to see parallel cards. Leviamon features some heavily detailed art of him swimming in the depths of the Net Ocean, with just a few bits of light visible that aren't from him. It reminds of a few paintings, although I can't recall the names... Anubimon gets some very nice comic booky art of it using a special ability that doesn't have a formal name. If it finds a Digimon in the Dark Area that isn't evil, it can turn the remnants of that data back to a Digiegg so it can live anew. If it finds them to be evil, they are sealed in eternal darkness. This Lopmon apparently lived positively. And Abunimon isn't alone in the shot either...

If you think about it, it's kind of weird the Digital World's entire ecosystem totally revolves Anubimon's existence even though it's not affiliated with any other Digimon and isn't even exceptionally powerful itself.

Like the Royal Knights, Demon Lords, Olympus 12, Great Angels, Four Holy Beasts, Four Great Dragons all exist etc. etc. but none of them provides a role as vital as Anubimon.

Leviamon's parallel art is freaking scarier. So much darkness in extreme deep abyss ocean clearly pointing at Leviamon's giant size! Great job for drawing amazing background for just empty darkness ocean! Genius...

I think Sasai drew Anubimon's head a bit too cat-ish... Yeah so much cat-like... I'm sad!

That Lopmon turning/being transferred back into a Digiegg is Wallace's. If you guys remember the old school Digimon 02 movie: The Golden Digimentals, in the ending scene, Wallace and Terriermon found a Digiegg at the beach side - that same Digiegg design is the same in Anubimon parallel art!

Leviamon size is done nicely in that art how long he is seems more apparent than the original art where you had to look at least twice to get it. He also look threatening here heck even the Net Ocean looks scary here. Good art for the great demon lord.

Anubismon is okay. Ammit is cooler to me but seeing him judge someone is oddly satisfying.

The Leviamon card is really solid, as said before the background and lighting give the appearance of a sea monster and it fits so well for the Demon Lord. Anubimon I was a little down on before, but the more I look at it the more I like it. Between the calmer feel of the moment while he does his work, the aforementioned Golden Digimental nod, and just showing Anubimon doing something he's known for but rarely (if ever) shown doing in Digimon media I've come around to it. It's always great to see underused traits of Digimon in these cards and Anubimon's is no different.

Two deeply underrated Mons! Leviamon is fittingly gigantic and monstrous, while I love the Lopmon reference in Anubimon's card.

Valkryimon in one of its Profiles can do the same, but it is only mentioned as doing so for "Digimon that have fallen in Battles."

But it is easy enough to swing Valkyrimon as the "Judge of the Dark Area" in some Digital Worlds. Since Witchelny despite being "part" of the Digital World as a small Sub Dimension linked to it has it's own Dark Area, so maybe Valkyrimon is the Judge there?

I think of Valkyrimon as more the healer angel of the battlefield, like Mercy from the critically ashamed series Overwatch. I imagine Valkyrimon doesn't ever enter the Dark Area itself unlike Anubimon who lives there, it just pulls back souls before it reaches a certain point and/or judgement in the Dark Area. I wonder if Anubimon ever gets annoyed when a dead soul that catches its eye gets pulled back by Valkyrimon before it can act or if it just accepts it?

I then see Anubimon as specifically the god of reincarnation with Cerberusmon serving both Anubimon and also Plutomon as watchdogs of the Dark Areas if Plutomon exists in non-Iliad Dark Areas? I also don't know if Anubimon exists in Iliad's Dark Area. And then every Dark Area is connected through Cocytus... the hierarchies of the Dark Area get very confusing to me sometimes

The pairing of Anubimon and Leviamon almost suggests that Leviamon can take the role of Ammit, swallowing vile souls who have been judged.
