About a quarter this time, 13 episodes.

Fullmetal Alchemist

Some very very light ecchi, heavier violence than we've done in awhile, and more than a bit of drama.

After light and fluffy needed a bit more drama this week. And since someone may ask (I've been asked before) despite the name similarity, there is no relation to Full Metal Panic. This is the original FMA series that had a lot of original content, not the later series (Brotherhood) that was a more straight adaption of the manga.

Fullmetal Alchemist is one of those shows that works great as 'gateway' anime, that thing you use to introduce people.

It has an engaging story, great characters, and the animation by and large looks good.

Story wise I don't have much to say because most of it gets revealed when you should find out, so I'll just go with the most obvious thing. It's a tale of two brothers who lost more than they expected and want to get it back.

Literally to many Digimon connections to list properly this time. Won't list anything for the English side, as there are connections, but in more bit roles.

As for the Japanese... I'll list a few... One of the scriptwriters from Adventure, Frontier, and Savers also worked on FMA. As for actors... I'll just list a few Digimon characters you might find if you listen closely... Gabumon from Adventure, Ken from 02, Lee from Tamers, RhodoKnightmon from Frontier, Ikuto from Savers, and Nene and Cutemon from Xros Wars.

I've seen this. It's very good and how many of us tried to clap our hands to use alchemy? Really good anime. This is the one that's not like the manga but it's still good compared.

I've always preferred this to Brotherhood.. I guess it's the film that gets most of the hate though. Good series.. I actually have an extensive Alphonse collection and my cat is named after him.

I decided to watch the entire series, since there was no convenient stopping point. It took me more than a week, but two nights ago I finished the series and last night I watched the sequel movie. On the whole I think it was great. Very likable characters (even Gluttony was rather cute) and a story that interspersed fun with some rather dark moments. Both the series and the movie seem rather timely just now, given the way they handle themes of war, xenophobia, and fanaticism. I look forward to eventually watching Brotherhood.

Brotherhood is a blast. I opted to skip the first iteration entirely but I've heard it isn't terrible.
