The Digimon Card Game Twitter has updated with a card preview from Booster Set 8 New Hero. This time it's Kyukimon.

Kyukimon gets some very dynamic looking art. Various bits of shading and effects gives the idea that it just stopped spinning. Really nice

Despite being almost a double-colored copy of its previous card, the artwork is really cool. You always like to see these less popular Digimon appearing. I would like to say "dinohumon maybe incoming", but I don't see him being purple or yellow (ready to be proved wrong)

If its basically the same as the old card doesn't that basically make the old one irrelevant/pointless? In fact that prob makes most old cards meh now with all these dual colour cards. Power creep for you I suppose

Since they have different numbers, couldn't you have 4 of both in the same deck? Not that I'm expecting "Kyuukimon Support" cards, but that's why we got so many Commandramon, right?

The old one was already not used (kind of a bad stat line), this is making a usable verison of it. I'd say powercreep is when a new set has archtypes that are just flatout better than the high tier decks of the previous few sets. But if they're just releasing buffed versions of previously unused cards, I don't think that's a bad thing. I guess on a 1by1 basis, it's a "powercreep" of the previous card, but the word powercreep usually has more implications to me (this is just semantics though). If you previously have a bad card, and then make it so all future similar cards are as bad as it, then it'll never have a chance to compete with the actual high tier decks.

Cyclonemon is just a better version of Aquilamon/Growlmon, but those cards were already rarely used from my experience. Having a better version of those two cards is just a buff to that overall strategy- and that strategy needed a buff to compete with the higher tiers. As for Hookmon, I think he's fairly balanced compared to his ancestors- there's still valid reasons to use both Garurumon and Mojyamon. In mono blue, Mojyamon is more useful than Hookmon.

Side topic; Some people are seeing dual colors as the death of mono, but, I can assure you mono will still remain king overall imo. With mono you can have a full line with inheritable that are guaranteed to work together, or you can have an extremely cheap line. The disadvantage of dual colored is that it's expensive and the inheritables will usually not benefit the overall strategy you're going for. Getting a reboot rookie under your red or blue mega could be strong, but then you're missing out on some great champion/ultimate inheritables or cheap evolutions for the sake of frankensteining some colors together. I will say the new starter decks have some great effects that can help dual colors a lot though, as they have effects that directly benefit you as long as you use two colors. If those kinds of "if you have two colors, then gain this benefit" effects become more common, then I'll eat my words.

That's just my take, anyway.

The last Kyukimon card was from a Starter Deck which are always kinda naff compared their Booster Set counterparts.

yes but you need to be careful with this as it makes you more susceptible to enemy cards that target all cards of the same name such as the first Omnimon card we got

"dinohumon maybe incoming", yeah you r right. He is in new post.
Kyukimon being purple+yellow, maybe because he can evolve from youkomon & dinohumon.
Dinohumon is red+yellow, i think he come as Hawkmon (Red) + Kotemon (Yellow) joggress.

BTW i'm join 1 year after you join (16 Nov 2020)
