The Digimon Card Game Twitter has updated with card previews from Booster Set 14 Blast Ace. This time it's Kodokugumon & Dokugumon.

Kodokugumon & Dokugumon get some really nice paired art of theme each in the same location, doing similar actions, with really crisp looking artwork. The detailing and effects is a high point on these.

With this being an adventure set and that design wasn't in adventure I guess we really will never see the original kodokugumon again

These guys seem like a decent tool to stall/punish your opponent for trying to get in chip damage with small bodies.

the KoDokugumon art for some reason made me think of the Maxx "C" art from Yu-Gi-Oh.
Banira did an amazing job illustrating both these cards. They're very dynamic and detailed while looking great together

KoDokugumon
Rookie | Virus | Insectoid
[On Play] By suspending 1 of your Digimon, suspend 1 of your opponent's Digimon.

Dokugumon
Champion | Virus | Insectoid
[On Play] [When Digivolving] Suspend 1 of your opponent's Digimon. All of your opponent's Digimon with 5000 DP or less do not unsuspend during your opponent's next unsuspended phase.

We never saw Golemon after the new Golemon got made after the games using World 1 assets stopped, right up until 2021 when it randomly got into Adventure:. Never say never.

Dunno, after all these years I still feel like we never needed a Kodokugumon in the first place... and with how it looks like a smaller Dokugumon it just feels overdesigned for a rookie.

Keep in that outside of name, Rockmon from Digimon World and Golemon have very little in common plus their debut games Digital Monster Ver. WonderSwan and Digimon World were released within two months of each other implying concurrent development whereas the situation revolving around KoDokugumon's addition to the Encyclopedia strongly implies that it was created as an update to the original Adventure design; comparable how Cherrymon's default design was significantly altered from the design used in Digimon World.

Hell even in New Century and Soul Chaser, the two most significant appearances the original design has had since Adventure, KoDokugumon is classified as being Level III rather than Level II implying that KoDokugumon was always going to be made into Dokugumon's de facto Level III stage with the usage of the Adventure design possibly being an artifact.

I don't know this unique cases with KoDokugumon and Baby Dokugumon from Adventure 01 if they are the same ones or not.

But honestly I do feel like it's mixed of both options of Dokugumon babies getting new redesign because Baby versions simply looked childish version of Dokugumon to give Dokugumon a new Child to make those Baby version ones vanished off from the existence ever forever.

However, it's still mystery of why KoDokugumon exists there. I really completely appreciate this new Child form because it really looked pretty unique and look different.

KoDokugumon was lv2 in Soul Chaser, it just skipped Rookie. Evolved from Leafmon then directly to Dokugumon with its evo tree showing a gap where Rookie usually was

The original version of Golemon/Rockmon got into an episode of the reboot. Fought Greymon

wasn't enough to get into the reference book though annoyingly

Not just Kodokugumon (Baby), I'd be intrigued to see any attack-based Digimon make it into the Reference Book. Shame we couldn't get Fujitsumon, despite it being featured recently in a Ghost Game episode.
