Indaramon & Vajramon Previews for Booster Set EX-05

The Digimon Card Game Twitter (2) has updated with card previews from Booster Set EX-05 Animal Colosseum. This time it's Indaramon & Vajramon.

Indaramon gets a highly detailed painted stlye image, which really pops nicely and almost feels like it had some depth to it on the character. Vajramon gets a great action pose of it in a field, about to attack an unseen enemy.

They can't call it Indramon or they'd have to retcon a shit tonne of old cards to say "except Indramon"

Took me a minute to catch on, but I guess you're talking about how its English spelling causes it to technically be a "Dramon". Yeah, hopefully the localizers pull a Konami and just slap on a "This card does not count as having 'Dramon' in its name."

Yeah, they can call it Indramon with little note that the digimon is not part of Dramon so that everything applies for a dramon doesn't apply for Indramon.

If only they had thought of that for DoruGreymon, DexDoruGreymon, BurninGreymon, DemiVeemon, Pagumon, KendoGarurumon, and MetalKabuterimon.

They don't seem to know you can do that...

Admittedly, the two babies don't count as effects don't work in the breeding area but these Deva are the first cards to allow you to mess about with the breeding area so who's to say DemiVeemon and Pagumon wont cause issues in the future...

The 1 issue with "doesn't count as _" is people mistaking it as an effect, then you use something to negate effects and suddenly it counts
Also I must admit i've never looked at Indaramon's JP spelling before, like the actual kana, I've seen it written out as Indaramon but never actually processed the kana until now.

I do find it kinda interesting on the english card game front about how inconsistent it fells at times.

Like we get Lighdra instead of Raidra- which of course is clearly more accurate, yet at the same time we get KendoGaruru instead of Garmmon... like why? sure Raidra was likely a mistranslation back in the day but it was kept for so long. Also Burning Greymon just messes with name effects, but as I dont play the card game i'm not sure when cards the Greymon in the name thing became significant so MAYBE they can pull a Yugioh Defense, though obviously that defense doesn't work since by now people should be looking at Yugioh as an example.

Like ok maybe we shouldn't just rename stuff wildly because maybe archetypes will be a thing at some point.

What if X trait becomes important down the road?

Birdman > Harpies Brother > Sky Scout is a prime example of renames that seemed cool at first only to bite yugioh in the rear when the Harpy support started to appear.

DoruGreymon might be one of he harder names to side step though they could of decided to change the spelling to DoruGreamon to keep a familiar pronounciation without accidentally making it a greymon. But yeah (this card does not count as X) would probably be the best solution going forward. Though I think on Yugioh Cards its usually the (This card counts as X)

I would assume the lack of negative parentheticals is probably because then it makes you go if this doesnt count as an archfiend why did you call it an archfiend or something. So having something count as something else is one thing, while having it not count as something that it on the surface level should count as is another. Obviously this is a different case in digimon where perhaps things could of been resolved with the trait fields but then i see that getting messy. Though thats also a hindsight approach.
