There were many bootleg digivices in China at the time digimon is popular.
All of us in China have bought the fake digivices before.
Now those fake things flow into international market, so you may get a fake one with a high price.
I have wrote an article in China's discussion board before, to tell everybody how to identify the bootleg digivices.
When I get on ebay today, I'm surprised that there are 3 fake Japanese D-3, and a lot of people are placing bids!
So I try to share my article here, to help everyone find them out.

(My English is not good, please tell me if I don't tell well. It's welcome that you share this article with other forms to let more people know.)

Here I don't discuss those bad fakes that you know they are bootleg when you see them in your first eye.
What I tell here is the ones that looks really like the original. You may think those are good ones if you don't have the way to check them.

===========================================================
First of all, I'll tell you what kind of digivices have fake ones that look like the original.

Japanese Digivice (No fake)
US Digivice (have fake, all are version 2)

Japanese D-3 (Have fake)
US D-3 (No fake)

D-ark(Have fake)
D-power(No fake)

D-Scanner(Have fake)
D-tector(No fake)

===========================================================

How to indentify fake digivice version 2

All the color in version 2 could have the chance to be a fake one.
The colors of version 2 are:
Transparent no color body + Blue button.
Black body + White button.
Purple body + Yellow button.
greenish yellow body + Purple button.
Glow in the dark body + White button.

It's easy to tell which digivice ver2 is a fake one.
Please see the wire on the back.
QQ20150414131700_zpsel3szbuv.png

The left one is original, the wire goes from top to below.
The right one is fake. The wire stays at the lower part.

About the content of the fake digivice ver2:
1. You can't push the button to beat a digimon in the mini card game.
2. When you walk 50,000 steps, there is no auto - Mega evolution action.

===========================================================

How to indentify fake Japanese D-3

All the color could have a fake ones.

Colors and content in the original D-3:
Version1: V-mon and Wormmon

Version2: Hawkmon and Tailmon
Version2 Colors: White and Red; Blue and white.

Version3: Armadimon and Patamon
Version3 Colors: White and Yellow; Black and Blue.

If you see the digimon and the color is not matching, then it is fake.
Example: You see a V-mon in a black and blue D-3. Then that's a fake one.

If you see a color that is not exist, then it is a fake one.
QQ20150414131709_zps4qsrhxny.png

*I don't know whether there is a fake limited version 1.5 or not. I have never seen a fake one of it.

Details that could tell the fake one with the original one:

Thank you very much for this article. I will be a great help to collectors, or just people who want to get back a toy from their childhood.

Rather than merge this with the other thread, I think I'm going to sticky it along side it to act as a guide. Good post.

Very cool!!
Thanks for helping me confirm my suspicions.

How bout the D-Cybers? Where would I look to spot fakes, or has anyone made fake ones?

D-Cybers have no fake. :)

*Exactly there is... But.. I think it is unnecessary to point it out..
You wouldn't think this is an original one, and the content inside is no connect with the original one.

The White and Blue version of 77280 makes sense, in that it is only one number of the Red/White. 77279/77280.

If possible, I would like it if the original post can be Edited as follows:

Version 1:
Daisuke Version - White w/ Blue Grip: 76203
Ken Version - Black w/ Black Grip: 76166
Paildramon Version - Blue w/ Green Grip, Red Buttons: 78038
21st Century Version - Transparent Blue w/ Green Grip, Red Buttons: 78483

Version 2:
Yolei Version: White w/ Red Grip: 77279
Silphymon Version: Blue w/ White Grip: 77280

Version 3:
Iori Version: White w/ Yellow Grip: 78207
Seraphimon Version: Black w/ Blue Grips: _ _ _ _ _

I have one of all of these as well. I'll check mine sometime soon.

Do you have a d-ark ultimate version limited?
I'll add the d-ark numbers, too.

I'd bought a fake D-Tector years ago when I was a young 'un, it looked like a Red D-Scanner 3.0 but it came in the Bandai Asia packaging. It felt extremely light compared to my D-Tector Version 1, and when I booted it up I was greeted by a dancing Hello Kitty sprite. Is that considered a bootleg D-Scanner (like the one in the first post) or is that actually a D-Tector bootleg? I mean it did come in the Bandai Asia package.

This is a bootleg, but not the target I'm talking.
The one you said is easy to tell because the looking of the digivice is not the same as the original one.
And the game play is not the original gaming.

The article I write is for those looks really like a real one, and the game play is just the same as the original game play.

There are so many bad fake digivices in China, most of them are too bad. So I think I don't need to point them out.
If I add all the fake digivices in this article, it may be 10 times longer than it is now.

====================================================
add a photo of what I seen before.
I think this is the one you bought.
But, if you have seen any d-tector before, I think you won't buy it. :/

Is that a Yu-Gi-Oh! card? The one with 5 leveled star from Forbidden Memories Era? How could it get there?
The producer don't know what digimon and Yu-Gi-Oh! is.
They see the digivice sells good so they make fake ones to cheat the children.
They don't care what to put, and the Yu-Gi-Oh! cards are very popular. So they put one in it. :(

Oh, I see. Back then, I also had a Yellow D-3 whose gameplay is just like regular Tamagotchi. I remember there's a Digimon who looks suspicously similar to Chakkumon.
