after getting my digivice x this past week, my partner digimon is apparently Gabumon X — who today digivolved to Jesmon X. here is its evolution line. here

You know, I had completely forgotten about that!

Still, while it is official, I don't see a relationship between them. I honestly see more of a relationship, design wise, between Gatomon and Gazimon, which I honestly see as counterparts to one another. It's a shame, IMO, that there isn't one between them.

Honestly, while Lopmon is "cute", I dislike it being shoehorned as a default line for Cherubimon in practically every incarnation of the franchise. Sure, the same could be said for Salamon and Patamon, but Lopmon seems like a natural pair to Terriermon, that gets forced into the Holy Angel family of Digimon. While this is just Tamers specific, SaintGargomon, while probably inspired by a Saint Bernard (dog), seems like a quasi tie-in to Cherubimon. I'd honestly rather him than SlashAngemon, but that's another story... But to bring this back to Gazimon, I actually see him as a decent fit for the Cherubimon line, if Cherubimon weren't so Lopmon centric in design and line. Yes, this is more of a Pokemon esque argument in my mind, but Lopmon is pretty much a pokémon that got in under the radar with how his line defaults design wise to Cherubimon.

If I lived in a world where Digimon existed, I wouldn't wanna be a Chosen so much as a Tamer that could collect and raise their own army. That said, I'd love to drive around in my own Digi-Beetle, though I wouldn't mind a Xros Loader or a Story Digivice. But yeah, as others have said, if Chosen's my only choice, then I'd pretty much just get what comes to me. If nothing else, any Digimon should be capable of evolving all the way to Ultimate and be at least somewhat competent in some way or another (even if it's an Ultimate that only specializes in a particular ability like Parasimon). The franchise seems to have moved away from the idea that some Digimon will just end up being evolutionary deadends.

Pomumon feels like it was made for me (I am a researcher focused on both stem-birds and fossil plants).

Its evolution line I could go with either the "proper" one Pomumon > Parasaurmon > Tropiamon > Hydramon or something like Pomumon > Allomon > Ornismon

As a kid, I would have likely ended up with Numemon based on my lack of understanding the game dynamics for Digimon World.

The franchise seems to have moved away from the idea that some Digimon will just end up being evolutionary deadends.

This is true. That and being partnered with permanent higher tier sustaining Digimon. I'm partial to Butenmon > Garudamon/HippoGriffomon.

Honestly? I'd have to go with Labramon. The line would preferably be Labramon < Tobucatmon < Skull Baluchimon < Dinotigermon or Ancient Sphinxmon(?).
I'd go with something different for the mega, but I wanted to keep it quadrapedal and to ensure it was that as well as a mammal/mammal-like digimon without being Duftmonn/Leopardmon or Sleipmon, but I also noticed that Ancient Sphinxmon has wings and is technically feline in nature due to being based off of a Sphinx which is for some reason mostly depicted as a cat or similar but I'm a bit iffy on it since it's one of the legendary ten warriors, so I might just stick with Dinotigermon.

If I had to choose I think I'd say Ladydevimon because she'd be relatable enough to partner with but different enough to make the partnership interesting. Maybe something like this for an evolution line:

Zurumon>Pagumon>Gazimon>Devidramon>Ladydevimon>Lilithmon

Shoot, I forgot. Maybe something like gizamon>cyclonemon. Or perhaps bellestarmon with some line involving sistermon noir. To be fair though, given how many partnerships have been made between the animes, mangas, games and such it's a little hard to remember them all xD

Yeah, unfortunately there aren't really many Beast/cat-like digimon that either aren't taken or don't really fit with the line I made since I have now started associating Tobucatmon with Labramon(curse you brain), chances are that I'm just being dumb so I guess Liollmon would replace Labramon due to it not being used as a partner (as far as I know)and also being a type of feline due to being based on a lion cub.
