Holydramon Preview for Booster Set EX-03

The Digimon Card Game Twitter has updated with card previews from Booster Set EX-03 Dragon's Roar. This time it's Holydramon.

Holydramon we already saw a bit early from V-Jump, but that doesn't change that the art is still quite striking, and has the flat textured ook we've seen elsewhere in the set.

ever since I first saw Magnadramon/Holydramon I loved it because I have a lot of comforting nostalgia regarding the dragon from the Neverending Story and I made the aesthetic connection instantly. Although I'm not sure if that dragon inspired Magnadramon or if it's just a coincidence/shared inspiration the two pulled from.

Gossan's art style is really amazing here. This might be a showcase card when it comes to the strength of their art.

I preferfer holydramon being tailmons main, ofanimon too ugly.

Ever since I say this pink fluffy dragon in Adventure 2020 and now this card, I have fallen in love.

This is so cool. Dog>cat>lady>dragon is peak digimon to me, I have a huge soft spot for Holydramon.

The Four Great Dragons are probably at least partially based on the Dragon Kings of the Four Seas from Chinese and Korean folk religions, with Holydramon specifically seeming to invoke the image of Ao Run, the white dragon. Given how ubiquitous that style of lóng is in popular culture it would not surprise me at all to learn that her softer, fluffier design was cultural cross-pollination from Falkor's design, who himself likely drew on Chinese Dragons for design. I had the same thought when I saw her! Interestingly, Falkor's original name, Fuchur, is believed to be a German transcription of the Japanese word "Fukuryu," literally "lucky dragon".

This Gossan art is so sick. I'm just waiting on our girl to get a parallel art printing!
