A bit of fun...

Guinness World Records has listed a new record, the Largest Collection of Digimon Memorabilia!

The record is held by Ng Tze Ying with 18,264 items.

To help verify and go over certain items, 2 Digimon experts were brought in to look over images of the items, and as you can see in the photograph above, it's Kenji Watanabe and Director Kakudou.

Kenji Watanabe posted on Twitter regarding it:
Anyway, I'm happy to be in Guiness with Digimon! Checking products with Kakudou... It was fun to check until late at night. Right? It was hard. (^_^;)

Director Kakudou posted a tweet linking to a blog post he made, along with the two photos above. This isn't a full translation of that, just a few bits:
Kakudou mentions how they did the witness and check as elements were recorded and confirmed, being considered experts on the subject of Digimon. He mentions how it was time consuming and included things such as cards, CDs, books, DVDs, clothing, figures, toys, capsule toys, etc.

They checked over 9000 items a day.

He thinks it would have been nice if they could have announced it on DigiFes as Ying was at DigiFes, but the screenings after the application took weeks to finish.

According to Guinness it took them 3 days to go over everything.

Ng Tze Ying posted a tweet that includes art and a message to other Digimon fans on their Twitter.

In the message they talk about what Digimon has brought to their life, thanking Kakudou and Watanabe for their help, etc.

Update- Added the artwork and message with the permission of Ying.

Transformers- 2,111

18000+ items. I can't really get my head around just how much stuff that is.
Like, my computer collection alone only has roughly 2500 individual items and artifacts and that takes up a LOT of space.

I like to think someone had finally beat Pokemon because of Sword and Shield.

Pokemon ended after gen 5.
Man I wish I had 18000 digimon memorabilia. If I had $1,800,000, I probably could.

I thought Pokemon item collection is way too huge compared to all other items? Since every generation of Pokemon came with tons and tons of pokemon items where I cannot count....

I envy her collection. But it's pretty cool that someone got a World Record for Digimon stuff. Now I can proudly tell my little brother that Digimon is in the Guinness Book of World Records.

Wow. That is awesome. Really, really impressive. Glad to see this is a series where that's possible.
