Gizamon Preview for Booster Set 14

The Digimon Card Game Twitter has updated with card previews from Booster Set 14 Blast Ace. This time it's Gizamon.

Gizamon features Gizamon along with a Gazimon, looking at the sunset, and possibly plotting with Scar to take down Mufasa.

Those are some weirdly proportioned Digimon

Giazmon in red feels...weird. It's a frog but I guess if you have it evolve into a Dragon or something it fits. The inherited casually letting you kill Sistermon is oof. Tbf it can take out most Rookies so that's actually a pretty crazy inherited

I didn't expect Gizamon in red but if I see it as an extension of not leaving any of the version 5 Digimon behind and letting them all be a family in red, I really like it. Version 5 fans have it good lately

I didn't expect Gizamon in red but if I see it as an extension of not leaving any of the version 5 Digimon behind and letting them all be a family in red, I really like it. Version 5 fans have it good lately

I mean, we haven't had Pagumon, Devidramon, Flymon, Raremon or Ex-Tyranomon in red yet, and I can't imagine all of them are going to be in this set.

Red Gizamon is most probably gonna evolve to Cyclomon.
It's a DW2 reference where Gizamon and Gazimon were also together.

...? Gizamon red?! It really looks so weird. And the sunset background may be nice but it never helps Gizamon being red...

Closest thing I can think of with red Gizamon is trying to tie him to Cyclomon or the fact that other Vpet 5.0 digimon like Gazimon, DarkTyrannomon, Deltamon and Tuskmon came out as red as well.

Well at least Gizamon -> Cyclomon is an evolution line I always liked, but the Vpet 5.0 didn't back it up with Cyclomon only evolving from Gazimon, but it did happen in a couple video games.

I guess, it'll be interesting to see if today's later new batch of cards will be in any way connected to Gizamon. It's worth noting that Cyclomon is not related to the first Digimon Adventure so I'm not sure if they are in fact going for it in this set. Maybe if there was some villain who it could eventually turn into, but MetalSeadramon doesn't feel right to be red and Machinedramon doesn't feel right to evolve from Gizamon (and be primarily red) to me.

No, we'll probably never see all of them in red, especially not in a single set. It's just not a priority to back up every historically possible evolution path in the card game, when you have a main theme to build around...

...but red Gazimon from BT-08 exists pretty much solely out of that logic in mind. We didn't need a red Gazimon, but with it's artwork it's clear the intention was to make the card a callback to Vet 5.0 and remind everyone that Gazimon's A-line in the Vpet was DarkTyrannomon. It's entirely possible Gizamon is just a filler with the same logic in mind.

It's worth noting that Cyclomon is not related to the first Digimon Adventure so I'm not sure if they are in fact going for it in this set.

Not to the anime, but Cyclomon appeared in the novelization as one of Etemon's minions. Of course, not every Digimon in the set will be Adventure-related, given stuff like Triceramon and DinoRexmon.

The two buddies who always hang out. Can't wait to see his evo. Always wanted to see it, 2nd to my favorite Gazimon. Hopefully Gazimon will follow afterwards.

I had already thought it seemed like space was a little tight for all eight partner Digimon's lines to be in this set, but with this card (and the assumption that we're getting a Level 2 for each color as usual) we officially don't have room for both the Agumon and Piyomon lines in red.

So presumably we're just getting Agumon, Gomamon, Patamon and Palmon here and the next booster will have Piyomon, Gabumon, Tailmon and Tentomon.
