Gaossmon & MailBirdramon Preview for Booster Set 10

The Digimon Card Game Twitter has updated with a card preview from Booster Set 10 Xros Encounter. This time it's Gaossmon & MailBirdramon.

We get a Blue Flare duo! Gaossmon features the little guy rushing off with a bunch more around him, plus the 2010 version of Greymon. MailBirdramon features him and Cyberdramon in battle, and having just shattered someone into pieces (you can see the busted wing if you want to know who.)

I figured we'd get Blue Flare as a trait after we got Fusion Fighters as one.

The Gaossmon the back has a funny face.

Mailbirdramon's effect would also work for the original MetalGreymon as well interestingly enough, not that there's any reason to run a blue Christopher card in a red Greymon deck. Still possible though. Maybe there's a good Red/Blue deck you could do to use him in with og MetalGreymon

Now will Twilight/Midnight also have a trait, or will Sparrowmon just fall under Fusion Fighters. Also Bagra Army

Edit; I just realised that as this Gaossmon is blue, it makes using Gaossmon with Thomas to be more viable now as a the last one was red

outside of Deckerdramon and redesign Cyberdramon which are great, Blue Flare has my least favorite designs in all of Xros Wars and I had absolute, intense hate for Kiriha when I watched Xros Wars. Maybe that can change if I watch it more recently but I had never hated a tamer that much.

As always, my favorite part of sasasi's art is his attention to detail, especially when it comes to cameos and lore references. You can tell he a big Digimon fan.

You can see the Gaossmon in the back panicking due to the puddle of water, along with Greymon's look of disappointment. There are also parts of Pteranomon in MailBirdramon's art.

Name-based mechanics always create these sort of unusual synergies, which I like a lot. Yu-Gi-Oh! relies a lot on it for it's cards to function, and is one of my favorite aspects of it. You can add a lot of flavor and meaning to different cards by playing on this.

It can cause some awkward names at times exactly to avoid unwanted synergies, unless you want to stamp an exclusion clause in every other card.

I don't really get how you're not understanding it. You can put any tamer into any deck. You can play Tamers whenever you want you don't need a red Digimon out to play a red tamer

Guess this confirms that Kiriha will be Blue, which in hindsight was perhaps obvious for a Team named "Blue Flare".

Anyways, these seem like good cards. Gaossmon is your cheap LV3 which you can just crash into the Security to get out a free Greymon/MailBirdramon/Deckerdramon. Speaking of MailBirdramon, he's good for setup which nods to his less than stellar role as just a satellite for Greymon and/or Kiriha in the anime.

Kiriha was badass in anime (until he got too much power of friendship), so I'm very happy to see him and his digimons in blue digimon card game family.

Because Taiki and Xros Hearts are Red-Yellow-Green army, I think that Blue Flare will be Blue-Red (Greymon and MetalGreymon) and Black (Golemon, probably Cyberdramon and Deckerdramon too) team. It will be very interesting meta.

Mailbirdramon's art is pretty great, I love the breath weapon effect.

Though, I'll admit, I kind of hope we end up seeing Nighthawk at some point. I don't recall it ever using that in the anime and it'd be nice to have an idea of what it looks like outside the description.
