Fun Digica 153- Booster Set 12 Card Previews- Shoutmon King Version, Taiki, Shoutmon x7: Superior Mode, & Final Xros Blade

Episode 153 of recently Fun Digica went up.

The new episode of Fun Digica has Cody and Miyano introduce cards from Booster Set 12 Across Time! This time we get a stack of cards related to Shoutmon & Taiki.



Jumping into the cards, we've seen a few early previews of at least one before...

Shoutmon King Version features him in his updated design looking over the world at sunset.
Taiki gets new anime style art, featuring him with his updated design from Hunters.
Shoutmon X7: Superior Mode features the ultimate Xros doing multiple attacks, as light and energy shine from all over the place and it shines gold.
Final Xros Blade features one of the attacks of x7, swinging down it's superior sword and it just wipes out evil.


And after Fun Digica went up, they put up slightly larger previews which have the sample text

The previews for the Shoutmon & Taiki related cards all look pretty nice, finishing off a nice run that began a few sets ago.

Superior Mode definitely looks very strong on paper, especially thinking of how many inherited effects it will have. Its 17,000 DP is huge but it has me wonder if some day in the future power creep would have us looking back like "it only has 17,000 DP?"

We now have a new highest printed DP now. Also, his effect is ridiculous, though realistically he wont be able to reduce his cost by much until the late game.

Its a shame it cant evolve and doesnt synergize with regular x7 in any way (though to be fair it didnt evolve from x7 in the anime either).

Yeah, they designed the shoutmon fusions to be toys first and digimon second and it shows. Honestly I hope a few of them get x-antibodies because they could really use a redesign.

You know, Shoutmon’s fusions including X7 SM were inspired by mecha like Super Sentai/Power Rangers, Gundam, Gurren Lagann, and Gogetter robo.

Only makes me wish if we ever see Digimon in Super Robot Wars.

The first guy to pass a specific boundary is almost always memorable for it. After that, usually not really as remembered. And I imagine that even if we do get something to pass that (my money's either on some godforsaken Omegamon variant because of course it would be or something like Ogudomon X or Jesmon GX), they'll match it with the next Shoutmon X7SM.

Only makes me wish if we ever see Digimon in Super Robot Wars.

I'm still goddamn shocked no Digimon series ever got in Cross Omega.

Like... really? You guys put in every fucking show under the sun, including a bunch of non-mecha stuff, but not one of the series Bandai was actually pushing at the time? Frigging weird.

It seemed like such an obvious contender for Lv7, but it's nice to see it finally confirmed. And even if its attribute was added retroactively, I'm all for having another Data-type Super Ultimate, which have been horribly lacking.

I was definitely talking about a further away future like 10 years from now we might have powercrept to where 17,000 DP just isn't as high as it used to be. It's happened to Pokemon and I think (?) to Yu-Gi-Oh. I feel you guys read it more as me asking when and why we'd get a next higher number.

I guess my input on that is that I don't expect us to surpass 17k DP until at least a good amount of sets from now but you never know. Ogudomon X might possibly be 18,000 or higher

Don't forget the original Hyper Colosseum card game. I don't know the value of effects or anything outside of raw numbers, but I remember it being a bit of a big deal when Susanoomon debuted with a 1000 A-attack (the first Digimon to do so IIRC). Prior to that, even the likes of Omegamon only had like 700 power (though later versions of it and other "Super Ultimates" like Dukemon Crimson Mode would eventually bring it up to that 1000 threshold).

Their designs don't do enough to give them recognizeable silhouettes, and there's like 8 of them. It's like dang, there's another Bionicle without the benefit of the mask to set it apart, wonder what number and letter combo it's gonna get slapped on at the end. Yawn.
