It's good to know all the groups that try and block vote have basically given up.

The various groups used to try and rally behind some eclectic choice so that if it ranked high they could say it was proof they did it.

Rallying behind the Gumdramon line is pretty solid stupid, as it was the assumed winner from day 1 . So either they have no actual clue about the state of fandom and the franchise, or they actually just have given up on trying to prove anything.

The winner was literally who you'd assume would win.

I feel like you're giving Gumdramon more credit than it's due.

Anyway it'd be the dumb option I guess. Their reasoning, as said above, was that "if everyone votes the Gumdramon line Bandai will be so impressed they'll make a mega form for him". They haven't "given up", as they box stuffed for tyrannomon alt arts in the two year dub anniversary card vote.

I'd say it had a strong case. It's a main protagonist Digimon, it hasn't been on a DIM before, and it has a bit of a pity favor as a fair few feel it's been screwed by Bandai. Compared to the competition like the Agumon variants or Gaossmon it was one of the clear favorites that many were either guessing or hoping to win.
