confusion aside at this point i feel more like Noir is actually a version exclusive at this point and not a straight up censorship... she may of started as censorship for some crazy reason, but at this point with her getting an official profile and such she has become something more she's grown into her own self which I don't think has ever happened before. I mean I'd love for Citramon to grow into its own digimon, sadly that will likely never happen.

Doubt it, it didn't seem to leave a dent in HM's sales despite having more uproar, so I doubt this card would convince most to cancel. Particularly when it's ultimately one card out of a set that includes many other Digimon rather then a part of a pre-order bonus meant to incentivize people to buy early.

yeah, there's also a ton of players who don't know anything about Digimon who play the card game just because it's a well designed and fun card game. I've seen a lot of people learning the characters of the franchise through the card game which is great but it also means that a good amount of English players probably didn't/don't know Noir even exists. The people who simultaneously buy the card game on a regular basis but care that much for Noir to not buy boxes or boosters is probably super small. Like, double digits if generous

if you have a Japanese friend maybe you can trade a Ciel for a Noir?

If I get two cards of Ciel then I'd trade one for Noir to complete three Sistermons.

To be honest, Sistermon Ciel got a card which is epic cuz of that artist. I'm so happy because her Awakened mode might finally have a card. But in return? I will never able to have to collect Sistermon Noir to compete the Sistermon trinity! I wish the stores stack up japanese version cards already.

Not sure if you were being serious, but if you were, then I’m sorry to disappoint you, but no.
Citramon was a mandate from Disney to Jeff Nimoy and the dub crew, due to sensitivity around imagined similarities to terrorist attacks that having a giant bomb attacking an amusement park created. Sistermon Ciel was done by Bandai themselves to avoid pissing off catholics (despite a tonne other questionable shit standing).
The difference here is that Ciel was done by Japan itself, whereas Citramon was done by the dub crew with no input from Toei or Bandai at all. Furthermore, Noir was changed for Hacker’s Memory as well. BomberNanimon, meanwhile, was unchanged just the year before that, in Next 0rder. Thusly, if and when BomberNanimon receives a card in the new card game, it will still be localised as BomberNanimon - there would be no point to censor him now, when they didn’t censor him in Ne0.

You know we could very much be over thinking it I mean just cause they replaced Noir in this set , and logically will in bt 07 it doesn't rule her out of future boosters entirely espeically if JP ever decides to include a ciel of their own since that would heavily handicap one region over the other since Japanese players could in theory run- whether its a good idea or not - Ciel noir, Blanc, and thier 3 awakened forms.

we also could get Noir repurposed as a promo card down the road I mean would it be an evil evil idea- yes... does it sound like something perfect for a card game - hell yes. I mean think about it Special edition box set... like how yugioh does its special editions and such with various variants or even various sets with various promo cards. Just give us some vanilla Noir with no effect and hey we'd have the complete set and we wouldn't be loosing out on a card since Ciel has JP noir's effect.

But yeah I'm sure there was probably a few reasons that they have no reason to really share with us the WHY i mean i know the current accepted reason - unless i missed some official Q/A that called out catholic backlash for the reason. But looking at it i think it was right in the middle of some hyper sensitivity in the states and such I mean we still are dealing with such things but the idea of having anything with any connection to the color black in the name could potentially cause idiots to blow it out of proportion. But again I don't think we really will ever know exacly why they changed Noir > Ciel for the games. While I feel the English version getting its own Noir is unlikely i'm not going to rule it out just because the first noir was replaced by Ciel and Logically so will the second. Bandai could very well turn the outrage into a way to make money.

would you honestly pass up some special edition set- be it "double Diamond special edition" with 3 boosters and a promo card, or maybe a Tin containing a few packs and a Noir promo card. JP could totally do the same with Ciel whether they have effects or not they could just make a 3rd sister mon card swap then ames and arts between region and we'd have

I'm sad that we still have censorship in Digimon franchise in USA (I'm from Europe and our version of Hacker's Memory is uncensored). There is a lot of titles with fighting nuns or nuns possessed by bad demons and nobody cares lol

Those nuns will sure have a lot of fun suing thousands of things then. Nuns with guns is super common. Even bayonetta, a nun with a gun, got into suprr smash bros

This makes me irrationally angry considering they are ok with Lucemon who is the literal devil being unchanged but a nun with guns is crossing the line?, also this makes me glad I bought noir’s cards, now I know Japanese set is always my default now, will get ciel though

This doesnt make any sense from a censorship perspective, as no one was calling for noir to be censored, and it was never censored in Europe in the original Hackers memory. It seems more like a weird localization choice to introduce a new digimon.

I wonder if theyll release Ceil in the Japanese TCG and it will be switched to noir for the global release.
