English Card Game Booster Set 6- Sistermon Ciel Replaces Sistermon Noir

Card previews for the English version of Booster Set 6 have shown that, like with Cyber Sleuth, they will be replacing Sistermon Noir with Sistermon Ciel.

Ciel features new artwork drawn by longtime Digimon artist Nakano Haito, as the Noir card was.


In the past, Bandai staff members have made clear the reason Sistermon Noir is replaced in the west is due to Bandai worried using a nun will cause them potential issues. So they replaced her with her twin sister, who is also a nun. And also left the other Sistermon as is.



English Booster Set 6 is scheduled for October.

Hah, that's kind of great. I know people will go "rah rah censorship" (not what this is) but I still like that we got a new 'mon out of it, and a weirdly interesting one to boot. At least she has her sword here.

That last part seems a bit more likelier, yes. But it won't necessarily mean it will get introduced in Japanese media, as well.

I understand that Ciel has been the 'replacement' for Noir in a lot of appearances in the west, but what gets me is the fact that they're so committed to it that they replaced her attribute so it's correct for Ciel. That means BT6-084 is actually a different card beyond aesthetics between languages. Additionally, what about the awakened Sistermon from BT-7? Another Ciel paint-job? And what if the JP version adds an ACTUAL Sistermon Ciel card later, since JP acknowledges all 3? Beyond me why they would continue this ridiculous fear about people getting offended over a nun with guns when we have uncensored demons and angels with cleavage on display with little actual issue. I'm afraid this'll lead to more weird card-text spaghetti like with Dorugreymon not being a greymon and the works in the future.

Guess we get some clean Sistermon Ciel art out of it at least.

honestly, Ciel is one of the most fun ways to do censorship. We got a whole original write up for the reference book for Ciel, its own original art as well, and the Ciel card in the card game also gave us original art. I think having an English exclusive Digimon is really neat, honestly, as opposed to just having literally recolored Noir

must say i'm not surprised I was expecting such a replacement since if noir of all the digimon managed to warrant a redesign and name change in the game I cant see why she would escape said fate in the card game. sadly this does mean we likely won't ever get to have all 3 sistermons, even if a card art likely features all 3 in JP I have a feeling its english card ar would be some special variant without noir... but maybe maybe down the road if JP gets a ciel card we'll get noir in its place as fun lil nod to the swap.

I will only say I am glad a stunning design like Ciel came out from a nonsense like this. Nakano's art is beyond beautiful.

When I saw this this morning I was super pissed off and still not over it really this is ridiculous and to make matters worse is using Huckmon

Now will this Ciel art ever get to Japan or will this end up as an English exclusive alt (meaning they'd have two Ciel cards where we'd have one) down the line if Ciel does get a card in a future set . and if Ciel just never gets into the JP version cuz of this, really none of this bodes well for ever having all three of them in something such as the next Story game. Oh, and I guess they'll be censoring BT6-011 (BaoHuckmon) as well since it has all three Sistermon on it. also, bt3-097 has Noir in the background of the card guess they didn't notice that one...

Only positive really is that it means we'll mostly likely see the proper version of Ciel Awakened in BT-7 (also, the Japanese Noir cards online sure got their prices increased fast, I should've bought one when they were cheap)

Don't ask me, here in Italy we have "Ninja Nuns vs Zombie Gays in Vatican City" on sale in regular newsstands in-between kids comic books and nobody cares.
I honestly think a regular nun would be more likely to complain about the lack of practicality of the high heels thy wear than anything else

I think the background cameos will be kept, and only their own cards will be switched around.

Doubt it, it didn't seem to leave a dent in HM's sales despite having more uproar, so I doubt this card would convince most to cancel. Particularly when it's ultimately one card out of a set that includes many other Digimon rather then a part of a pre-order bonus meant to incentivize people to buy early.
