Digimon Profile #23 is a report on speedy Digimon! And with it we get some social themed artwork of a relatively modern and quick Digimon

The New Year is just around the corner... and we're in the middle of December. A few more sleeps and it'll be the New Year... time sure flies, huh? Almost as fast as some of the Digimon we're here to talk about... So let's take a look at some Digimon that are fast. I'm going to introduce them according to the speed given in the reference book, and also according to the speed that the Digimon thesmelves move. The higher the number, the faster the speed.


Examples of High Speed Digimon
Kilometers per hour (kph) designates a unit of speed. The average human can walk 4 kph, while the speed limit for automobiles is typically 60 kph (at least on the streets in Japan.)

Penmon- Slides across ice on its belly at 60kph or faster.
Prairiemon- Digs holes to move through the ground at 100kph.
Diatrymon- With its strong legs it can run at speeds over 200kph.



Examples of Mach Speed Digimon
The speed at which sound travels through the air is 'the speed of sound' and is synonymous with 'mach'. The speed of sound is about 340 meters per second, or about 1225kph. When a flying object exceeds the speed of sound, shockwaves are generated in the surrounding areas and in the flying object itself. The average body can't withstand such speeds.

Centalmon- Blows gas at extremely high pressure from the ducts on its back, reaching speeds close to the speed of sound.
SaberLeomon- With instantaneous mach power it can easily dodge ordinary attacks.
Aquilamon- Flies through the skies at Mach speed to seek out distant foes.
Shoutmon + Jet Sparrow- This “Mach speed-Cruiser Mode” boasts tremendous propulsion capabilities.
Parrotmon- Uses a special move to move at Mach speed and generate sound waves.
Jazarichmon- Flies at Mach speed, and is considered among the best aerial combatants of the Digital World.
HerculesKabuterimon- Zooms around the Digital World at supersonic speeds.
MetalGreymon X (Virus)- Equipped with an energy booster that exceeds the speed of sound.
Wingdramon- Capable of flying at speeds exceeding Mach 20 (about 24,500 kph).




Examples of Lightspeed Digimon
The speed at which light moves is called the "speed of light. At about 300,000 kilometers per second, or about 1.08 billion kph, the earth can be traversed seven times in one second. Originally it was theorized that unlimited energy was needed to achieve light speed, but the existence of data offers endless possibilities.

Rapidmon (Perfect)- Brings down foes with precise movements close to lightspeed.
Linkmon- Accelerates to 98% of lightspeed.
Pegasmon X- Capable of super-acceleration to the point of reaching the speed of light.
Surfimon- Has a special move that accelerates it to lightspeed.
DeadlyAxemon- Has a special move that it uses to dive between opponents at lightspeed, slicing them up.
Metallicdramon- Flies through the upper reaches of the Digital World’s atmosphere at the speed of light.
MagnaGarurumon- Reaches lightspeed after detaching its chest armor.





Agumon Hakase finishes with... Digimon traveling at the speed of light are too fast to imagine... In the first place, traveling at the speed of light requires an amount of energy that is impossible for matter.... I'd better not upset them...

This is a weirdly niche topic for a Profile Report, but it's interesting at least. Can't complain about more artwork for Metallicdramon either.

and there is no mention of more well known speedsters like Merukimon, Ulforceveedramon & Sleipmon...

when I think of insanely fast digimon the first that come to mind to me are Mercurymon (from the Olympos XII) and Ulforce Veedramon. Neither are in the report but that just means more room for other digimon for me to now think of when I think of fast digimon.

Hmmm, one is a Royal Knight, the other a part of the Olympus XII. Almost as if a Profile-report on those could happen in the future.

I'm surprised Agumon Hakase updated this Life Profile that have nothing to do with X-mas.

Now I learnt new things from this. Metalllicdramon is basically our digimon version of Valstrax from Monster Hunter! How awesome is that?! Didn't expect Metallicdramon gets chibi artwork yet it's not chibi lol

Centalmon showed that at Adventure 01 in that ancient ruins. Oh boy I saw that scene as a child, it was some kind of scary. He sped abnormally with his freak body. Didn't think he'd be included here I just assumed he simply boosted himself at extreme short ranged gap distance not at that speed sound. I guess I will accept him.

Prariemon. Eh I wonder which is faster: Digmon, Drimogemon or Prariemon?

Diatrymon yeah I'd like to see him in anime because I was struggling to imagine him with such heavier body with all metal feathers with what, heavier weights?

SaberLeomon... Yeah I read it so I thought he can only dodge "speedy normal attacks" if he have insane reaction yet he dies often.... OFTEN. Died to insane speedy dark lightning of MetalEtemon. Died to laser pewpew of Gizmon. Those are SPEEDY attacks and he died to those just like that!

Aquilamon's light mach speed is hard to animate... Since he was always brought to "Evolve and fight to win" battles not outside for exploration like Imperialdramon Dragon Mode's lightspeed. Sadly

Parrotmon. All appearances didn't show that, I guess... If he is included in this speedy profile, then I honestly don't know how to react that.

Jazarichmon? No chance to be in anime to show that. Never ever... Tch

HerakleKabuterimon did often mention that but anime only shows all fight scenes.... :/

Wait why included MetalGreymon X (Virus)? When MetalGreymon X not get included?! Why MetalGreymon X (Virus) gets treated really well? With Weaponry switch arm and special booster functions plus epic flame exhausts?! I guess MetalGreymon X (Virus) is like to be treated as similar to BlackMachGaogamon's unique speed? Right...?

Wingdramon flying at such mach yeah obviously that spear helps to pierce the sky to fly faster.

Rapidmon with any versions in moves are only shown faster than anime shows... How come?

Linkmon...? Rinkmon you mean? I really want to see him in anime to be honest, I always wanted to see that.

Pegasmon X's profile mentioned that about new X Antibody effect granted that, I actually imagined him to compare to that... Robot Unicorn Attack...

Surfmon have... That? Wut?

MagnaGarurumon was badass at lightspeed but only capable of that if detached the armor and wasted ammos first. Ugh I wish X Antibody will grant him better survival rate.
He is like Gundam Heavyarms.

I'm sad again as usual at this Life Profiles for not mentioning famous ones with that lightspeed.

This was nice i was originally thinking why stop at Lightspeed but i forgot they're mainly talking specifically about the profiles technically Magnagarurumon profile is the only one i believe that mentions faster then light speed.

Pretty much all of it from Reference profiles. Nothing is new. But this profile gave us three types of speed tiers which is pretty nice.

What about Pulsmon, Runnermon, Pistmon, Peckmon, and KausGammamon aren’t they fast/speedy Digimon too.

Honestly, this looks like someone hit the find key "ctrl F" on the digimon profiles for mach speed and light speed. Hence why certain digimon said to be the "fastest" aren't included. Not like these highly exaggerated profiles on speed are worth much in the first place. lol

We shouldn't look too much into the profile-updates. Most of them are quite nice, but a lot of them are for the fun and spotlight of some species.

You aren't wrong. But this update was really jarring with the lack of fan favorite digimon known for their speed like mercurymon, MACHgaogamon, miragegaogamon, and ulforceveedramon. It took me by surprise since I would have thought some of these choices would have been obvious to a digimon fan.

Fair enough, I get that. They usually grab a few Digimon if the category is too big. Some Digimon might also get used for other Profiles.
