Another New Year's image, this time from the Bandai Digimon Twitter.

Image Thumbnail (custom)

A very nice classic Japanese New Year's style image featuring Terriermon (year of the dog!), Lopmon, and a slightly squished Mochimon with a daidai (a type of orange) on top of him (referencing a traditional Japanese New Year's decoration.)

It's a very cute and fun image.

We've had a few other New Year's images for Digimon.

Image Thumbnail (custom)

The New Year's image that was put up for Digimon Adventure tri., which we already have a thread for.

And, while not strictly a New Year's image, the last image the Bandai Digimon Twitter put up at the tail end of 2017...

Image Thumbnail (custom)

The image celebrates the great 2017 Digimon had during it's 20th anniversary year.

Terriermon being a dog is weird to me since he looks like a rabbit.

Ha ha ha. Year of the rabbit looking dogs. And Motimon is hilarious. This is really nice.

Bunny Blaster!

Seems the dub thinks he's a rabbit too, huh?

Terriermon is a dog, and Lopmon is a rabbit, hence their names and a number of their evolved forms' names (Galgomon, SaintGalgomon, Turuiemon).

Terriermon is a dog but Lopmon is a rabbit? But they're twins!

Wouldn't it be safer to say that they are both rabbit-like dogs, (or dog-like rabbits) with one of them focusing more on rabbit traits in its evolutions?

Especially with Lopmon's perfect form being the rabbit deva and with there being so many notable dog digimon it is an odd choice.

Guys, it's Digimon. It doesn't have to make perfect sense. If Terriermon were a rabbit, he wouldn't be called Terriermon, nor would his evolution be called Galgomon.

Should we call them dabbits? ...Rogs? ...This doesn't work as well as it does with Cabbits.

We should call them Digimon, because that's what they are. They're not animals.

I do find it interesting that, despite looking about as much like a real rabbit as Terriermon does a real dog, people are perfectly willing to believe Lopmon is a rabbit just because "long ears" are the main thing we associate with rabbits. Honestly Patamon has more rabbit-like anatomy than most "rabbit" Digimon. And now I've said the word "rabbit" so many times it doesn't sound like a real word anymore.
