Subtitle positions appears to be broken again.

Gammamon dreaming about chocolate. Lightning outside. The reflection of an eye and we see... Gammamon standing, and evilly laughing.

Gammamon leaves to go see a friend. Hiro checks with him to make sure he knows how to respond if anyone talks to him. Behind the door, Gammamon.

Clockmon shows up and says hi to Gammamon as he's wandering off, he said hi because it's odd for Gammamon to be alone. He happily wanders after saying hi.

The other Clockmon knocks on Hiro's door asking to be let in.

Hiro's eyes go funny when he sees the Gammamon, whose face they don't show us. With a different voice. And meanily eating chocolate, & being more uncooperative than normal.

Hiro muses on it being Gammamon due to how he acts. The real Gammamon comes home. The real one isn't happy, his friend didn't show up.

Hiro is confused since Gammamon was there the whole time, wasn't he? The fake watches from away.

And here's Kiyoshiro, as Gammamon chews on a desk in Kiyoshiro's room. He seems confused that Gammamon is there, as he just saw Gammamon outside.

Kiyoshiro confirms Gammamon was there the whole time.

His friend, Gotsumon, never showed up. But points to suggest he can now. But we only see a familiar face in closeup, not Gotsumon. Gammamon gets permission to go from Hiro. Fake Gammamon arrives knocking and is let in by Hiro.

Only showing Betsumon's face in close up and not as Gammamon is a neat touch, but it might work better as a proper trick if they used a Gammamon-like voice.

Gammamon comes home, but isn't being let in. Hiro opens the door and is confused. And it now reveals Betsumon. Hiro recognizes the fake as the real, and the real as the unspecified friend.

Betsumon saying he's Hiro's brother was a great line. Ruli calls. Ruli doesn't recognize Gammamon as Gammamon either, ditto for Angoramon. They recognize Betsumon as Gammamon.

Gammamon rushes to Kiyoshiro for help. Kiyoshiro freaks out, not recognizing him. Betsumon just sitting there in a Gammamon body with a Betsumon face is great.

Surely Jellymon will help... and it's another Betsumon.

Gammamon leaves. Although Gammamon seemingly doesn't recognize the fake Jellymon. Clockmon doesn't recognize Gammmamon either, and it upsets Clockmon that he'd be lied to. He tells this 'new Digimon' to stay out of trouble.

Gammammon sleeps in the park to get out of the rain. A Meicoomon shows up in the rain, commenting they got Gammamon also. Explaining what happened to him with the Betsumon. He asks Gammamon who he is. When answered, he asks if he has proof? He knew he was Meicoomon... but... maybe he isn't?

Gammamon is upset and says he's Gammamon. Meicoomon sadly says he's been forgotten, no one remembers or knows him anymore. Soon he will disappear. Gammamon isn't as sure anymore. Meicoomon vanishes. Gammamon decides he wants to be with Hiro no matter what and promptly trips into a rain puddle.

Betsumon takes off his Gammamon suit and eats a mustard and wasabi sandwich. He hates sweets.

Him and fake Jellymon go off to meet up with other Betsumon. They replace Digimon as a hobby and for fun.

Jellymon seemingly just hasn't been around, so was easy to replace. They start to prepare human suits for more trouble. Gammamon sees it and rushes to get Kiyoshiro and Hiro up.

Jellymon knocks on Kiyoshiro's door, he's confused why she wouldn't fly through it, gets punched in the face by a Betsumon dressed as him.

Hiro is in the midst of being replaced also, but wakes up, so they back off and hide, minus the fake Gammamon.

Hiro doesn't believe Gammamon about the fake, but he invites him to come with them anyways. Most of the kids in the dorm are Betsumon now.

Betsumon lets Hiro know Gammamon gives him bad vibes. HIro gives him chocolate anyways. Gammamon doesn't want to eat it cause he's sad, but as he flashes back on Meicoomon's words he eats it anyways and starts mowing through them screaming about them being his champion. Betsumon realizes what he's doing and tries to keep up, but his dislike of sweets catches up with him as Gammamon mows through them.

Betsumon clunks over from too much chocolate, which wakes Hiro up from the illusion. Gammamon is very happy and clamps to his head. He cries hugging Hiro and Hiro wipes off the tears.

Betsumon isn't happy the trick is over and rips off the Gammamon costume, and the other Betsumon show up.

Wezen! I think the evolution animation might have been slightly different? There was maybe a bit more of a spin to Gammamon? Or just didn't notice it quite so close before.

Wezen's attacks don't affect Betsu. And they all go diving in uppercutting Wezen.

Canoweissmon. They're playing the avant song during the fight and evolution, which is super weird and doesn't really fit well.

The Betsumon go blowing off in colored streaks.

Clockmon shows up. It appears after running into Gammamon he began to realize something was done. He says he'll take care of them.

Jellymon shows up and finds a tied up Kiyoshiro. Ruli and Angoramon are called again. Angoramon says puffery. Gammamon wants to confirm Ruli & Angoramon know who he is.

The new ED is nice enough.

That was... an entertaining enough episode, mostly? But again kind of falls into the position of, nothing really happens of consequence, especially with them pushing this one ahead of time. I dunno. I found it entertaining, but much of the cast was just missing, and very little happens in the end.

Daisuke Kishio returns to Digimon as Betsumon, a role he previously played in Hunters. He's played many Digimon roles including... Zenjirou, Blastmon, MailBirdramon, Baalmon/Beelzebumon in Xros Wars, not to mention a stack of other roles in Xros & Hunters. He was also Arata in the Cyber Sleuth games.

Wasabi Mizuta also returns to Digimon playing Betsumon (Jellymon). She was previousy Atamadekachimon in Adventure:, but is probably best known as Doraemon in most modern Doraemon content.

Cho returns to Digimon as Meicoomon. He was Yushima in Savers, Nanmon in Frontier, and Pharaohmon in Xros Wars. He has an engless list of credits, but fans would probably know him as Brook in One Piece, and he also appears as the Japanese dub voice of quite a few characters incuding: Elmer Fudd in Looney Tunes, Gollum in the LOTR movies, Neelix in Star Trek VOyager, Scooby Doo in the live action movie, Tarantulas in Beast Wars,

The various other Betsumons were done by members of the Adventure: & Ghost Game ensemble.

Okay, that ended up being much better than I feared it would be!

My major concern going in was how they were going to handle Betsumon (namely in how his disguise would work), and I'm happy to say that they made him legitimately creepy; it seemed like it wasn't just a case of him putting on a Gammamon costume, but also warping other people's perception to where they thought he was Gammamon and didn't even recognize the real one. So, in essence, he truly was replacing Gammamon, and it wasn't until Gammamon proved himself to be the real deal that the spell seemed to be broken and Hiro realized what was happening. Honestly, that is some Grade-A existential horror, particularly in the scene in the rain with the old Meicoomon; the idea that not only could your life be stolen without any warning, but also it could get to the point where even you're questioning if you're actually who you say you are, and you just disappear...*shiver* that's the kind of horror I love from this show!

To add onto the creepy factor, there's also the implication that the "Gotsumon" Gammamon was trying to play with was actually one of the Betsumon leading him away so the operation could begin, which shows that this wasn't a spur of the moment deal; this was a premeditated plan, and Gammamon was none the wiser until it was almost too late. And the reveal of the Betsumon that was impersonating Jellymon was a legit shock for me; they actually managed to get a decent jump-scare out of a Betsumon; that is incredible!

I also liked the escalation of things and how it seemed like the Betsumon were planning to potentially replace the whole world if left unchecked, which again is some major existential horror. I also liked how Gammamon managed to use his ravenous appetite to prove he was the real one, which was kind of hinted at earlier with the Betsumon eating spicy food to offset the sweets.

I guess if I had a minor complaint, it's that the resolution after Hiro came to his senses felt a tiny bit rushed with how all the Betsumon just suddenly appeared in the same park as Hiro and Gammamon, and how the battle was basically over once Cannonweissmon appeared. Though to be fair, Betsumon never struck me as that powerful a fighter despite being Ultimate level, so I guess I can't complain there. I am curious about what Clockmon did with all of them, though.

Overall, this episode was great and managed to beat out my fears and concerns going into it with an aluminum bat! And the next episode also sounds cool, with Kiyo being haunted by genuine Digimon ghosts; now that's a ghost story with potential!

That was such a huge disappointment considering all they hype and official promotion by TOEI you'd think something major will happen or some big twist related to the plot may unfold! Not even GulusGammamon managed to appear, not only that but they didn't bother to explain how Betsumon managed to manipulate Hiro, Kiyoshiro, Ruli and Angoramon into thinking that the real Gammamon was a fake one as I was baffled by how stupidly all of them believed Betsumon and didn't even question his voice and appearance considering they've known Gammamon for almost a year!!

They also didn't focus on how one of the Betsumons succeeded in disguising itself as Jellymon. I know that she goes out to do her business but how did Kiyoshiro not question her behavior when she got back or question her identity as being fake is beyond me!! I'm so mad by ZERO focus given to Kiyo and Jellymon in this situation!

This was probably the worst written episode on the show and to think I was excited all this week to watch it only to turn out to be a massive letdown!!!!

Thats the thing though it wasn't just them being stupid if it was the being stupid they would be questioning why there were 2 gammamon they 1 didn't recognize gammamon and 2 thought he was someone else so he obviously did something to them for this to be the case

If the disguise is perfect enough in the characters' pov, they shouldn't have asked who you are, they should've asked why there are two Gammamon, anyway.

So yes, I agree this was the worst written episode. Ghost Game's worst script.

Uh, if Betsumon can warp people's perceptions so that they perceive him as whoever he's impersonating, there's no reason he couldn't make them perceive the original as something different.

Oh What the Hades?! This episode made me feel so bad for Gammamon and now I'm afraid of Betsumon's scary new ability in this Ghost Game to manipulate anybody's memories and even identities despite wearing such lousy "disguise" but if the victim(s) is done for, if their dear ones take one look at Betsumon's eyes, it seemed so...

So we have Leomon Curse and now Meicoomon's Suffering Curse exists? Damn...

I think Betsumon with this new ability can take over Yggdrasil to trick Royal Knights or even SGDL's strongholds. Probably Olympus Twelve and Holy Beasts... lol man, this is way hardcore than Dracmon's prank... Seriously like if they can do it.

Oh wait... They didn't bother even ask about Meicoomon after this incident? Hmm

Didn't expect for the episode to turn out this good.

Also, love the "I've seen some sh*t" voice they gave Meicoomon.

So uhhh Meicoomon is... gone? Like gone gone? So if you got replaced too long you would just... disappear? Wonder how many has fallen victim to this. I swear the scariest part of the show is if you just think a little of what's happening in the background lol

I wonder why they marketed this episode so much if nothing of consequence would happen? Just because the premise is interesting?
Still, it was a decent episode! They managed to play Betsumon both as a geniune threat and kept their funny mannerisms. I wish they wouldn't rush the ending, though. One Meteor Lux and they're all down, haha
On the other hand, it was nice to see Clockmon again and to see him casually interact with Gammamon. He came a long way from the first episode where stealing time was all he cared about.

It's made pretty clear that betsumon's abilities make gammamon look different to everyone now.

I’m just glad Meicoomon got a cameo, even if it was depressing. I still feel cheated that the Adventure reboot teased Rasielmon but gave Valkyriemon an episode instead.

Do you think that Betsumon episode from Ghost Game was better than the Xros Wars Hunters?

I'd say yes; while I thought the Xros Hunters one was a solid enough episode, this one managed to take a Digimon as silly as Betsumon and actually made them legitimately creepy while portraying a classic creepy concept.

It would’ve been pretty funny if Betsumon had just outright died from chocolate given that it’s a deadly poison for cats.

This episode was pretty sus, it's almost like there were Betsumon among us... :ROFLMAO:

In all seriousness, this was an unusual episode. The idea of a doppelganger slowly replacing you until you until you start to doubt your own existence gave me flashbacks to The Double by Dostoevsky, but it didn't hit nearly as hard since there wasn't a clear and present danger I guess to being replaced. Either they should have had the Betsumon try to silence Gammamon after the successful replacement or they should have Gammamon start to fade away or something. The other main problem would be the cast suffering an unfortunate bout of plot-induced stupidity. Hiro doesn't question the fact that Gammamon denies being with him all day beyond a "huh, that's weird" and so much for being a bridge between humans and Digimon when a Digimon is in front of you and clearly is in distress Hiro just brushes it off multiple times. Side note, while I get the whole Betsumon warping perception on Hiro and Kiyo, I will call BS on it working through the webcam for Ruli and Angoramon. Lastly, that ending fight was...I dunno, weird since the Betsumon were barely reacting to the attacks and were blasting off like Team Rocket - it was very off tone.

Overall, an interesting concept on paper but poorly executed. I liked Monster Disco though, definitely my favourite ED so far.

I enjoyed this episode. I think it could have been creepier, actually. But it was fun. It was pretty much what I was expecting from it.

I will call BS on it working through the webcam for Ruli and Angoramon.
We have seen in Ghost Game digimon can interact with digital media. Why would Betsumon perception abilities work any less efficiently through a camera in a computer? If anything they should have even an easier time deepfaking someone through a digital camera.
