That was an interesting episode. Having Hiro/Gammamon absent from the first half was a good choice to highlight the isolation Ruri felt, though it dragged on for too long in my opinion. Nice to see even a Rookie like Dracmon can cause a lot of harm if malicious and unchecked (side note: I just realised that Dracmon is inspired by the Yokai "Tenome" with the whole hypnotising eyes in the hands schtick). Angoramon is precious and I like his pairing with Ruri. The confrontation with Dracmon was a bit of a let down and I'm surprised they just let him go at the end there, hopefully that doesn't come back to bite them.

Judging from the fact that Kiyoshiro is haunted by Pumpmon in the OP and said Digimon is in the preview for next week I'm guessing it's his turn next.

That girl could have put on a Vital Bracelet unboxing and try out video on Youtube and she'd figure out how to use it sooner than she did on her own in this episode, lol.

Nitpick aside, Ghost Game continues to be really interesting. Makes me wonder if Dracmon will go through a similar treatment as Impmon in Tamers. Given he seems to have a bit of a plan when compared to Impmon, who was literally just pulling unorganized pranks, I feel he will be different. Would be interesting for him to gain evolutions and become a bigger threat.
While it’s possible, other series in the same genre such as Ghost Stories also left certain aspects open-ended such as the fates of the monsters, so I don’t really think that any of the enemy Digimon are guaranteed to reappear.

I have a strong feeling Dracmon will however. It wasn't like with Clockmon where he just shook his fist and ran away. They literally wasted the last frame on him promising his revenge + it was framed ominously when Dracmon was a long way away from the battlefield. I don't see why they would go through so much effort to set it up only for Dracmon to not return. + this show has really few connections to Ghost Stories and even the dull Digimon 2020 had recurring characters.

I'm not expecting too much, but worst case it'll be a single episode return, where he has a new trick or power up, best case he's revealed as a minion like DemiDevimon in the original show or even better Impmon in Tamers.

I was mostly thinking from a genre perspective, so you’re far from wrong.

I'm only now realising how refreshing it is that the MC didn't appear in the first half the episode.

I would be so hyped to see sangloupmon animated given they didn’t use him in hunters

There is the rumored villainmon to fulfill that role, there is nothing interesting in having a very known digimon as dracumon being that important in the show.
In general i think we need more new mons in this season, i cant get excited by them fighting mons that i have seen all my life or at least the last 10 years. I know this is tye beginning of this show but i need something to happen already, a tease about villainmon at the end of a chapter, a tease of a possible new villain observing them at the distance, idk, something that would make this feel more like a series with plot instead of a monster of the week show.

Look on the bright side: at least we have completely new Partner Digimon this Season.

And they having regular evo lines is amazing too.
But since we are not seeing them doing anything interesting im not satisfied, i mean betelgammamon evolved, did an attack and turned into gamma. Need something to happen, show me something, even if i disliked xros wars, i remember its official website teasing us all those big villains and new characters, This season looks so empty, 3 new mons dealing with some guys that causes troubles in the city.

I agree, but also I disagree. There is no reason to have only the rumored villainmon as a character with an arc. More new Digimon? Sure, I agree, but Dracmon is already being set up, so they might as well figure out an interesting second part for him. I am also not asking for Dracmon to be the main villain (main villain will most definitely be something new), I just think they could do something interesting with him.

Seeing Angoramon in this episode, he does really feel like it's giant Bigfoot digimon rather than rabbit. I guess he does hop around like a rabbit despite his heavy fluffiness body.

Dracmon's pranks really reminded me of certain movies I watched...

Oh boy Dracmon actually survived and he tricked them really good. He still can make new eyes in no time. Let's hope Dracmon gets the Impmon route style.

Still no mention of Clockmon how interesting...

Clockmon is also there, yes, there can be more than 1 minor villain.
Seeing how dracumon wanted a partner to materialize and get more power would be interesting to have a kid that works as counterpart of hiro, since hiro is the one who gives the digivices V to his friends, that hipotetical antagonist kid could do the same with some criminals, making the main trio to deal with not only digimon but also humans.
Dracumon partnered with a creepy stalker guy.

It’s a little early to start complaining about this being a monster of the week show. Though it’s become less common over time, Digimon series usually start slow. Adventure didn’t introduce the Black Gears until episode 4, and didn’t have its first villain show up until episode 8. With Tamers I guess you had Hypnos, but it’s not like Hypnos actually did anything in the early episodes. Frontier mentioned Cherubimon early on, but we didn’t meet his servants until episode 6, and didn’t see Cherubimon himself for quite a long while. Savers didn’t introduce its first big antagonist until the end of the first cours. If we don’t have a villain pop up by episode 14, then it’s time to get worried.

They’ve also been doing steady character work. Personally, I generally think of MoTW as a derogatory term referring to shows with no real personalities in the protagonists that just jingle keys in front of the viewers’ faces to distract them from the fact that nothing is happening (IE - some of the worse toku shows or Adventure 2020)

it would be a fun shock if Villainmon is an all new bespoke Adult stage for Dracumon.

Well if Hiro keeps up like that, all digimons he encountered are basically loose and can start their rampages in this defenseless town anytime and it might pile up.

I cannot believe how Hiro isn't actively "hunting" but instead he had the time to help for somebody in need at internet with shady rumors involved with Digimon lol he should ask Gammamon to sniff out like a police dog.... I guess I find this approach in Ghost game is acceptable because it's somewhat interesting for me.

I wonder if Clockmon is going to be Hiro's nemesis, and Dracmon, Ruli's.

In the Digital Age, going out and hunting before researching online is pretty dumb especially in a big city like that one.

It’s also worth pointing out that Asian cultures tend to use the Kishotenketsu structure which focuses on the premise and setting over the conflict. It’s why the series rarely focuses on the main antagonist so early in the season.

Maybe it's just me, but I found the logic behind Dracumon's powers, as well as his M.O. and goal, a little convoluted.

I also thought the first two thirds of the episode were kinda boring, but it got fun when Dracumon showed up. They nailed his devilish personality.

Angoramon being the one who was outside Ruri's window listening to her play the piano was a little predictable, but it was still a really cute moment. And we better get more scenes of characters hugging Angoramon. I was totally indifferent towards him before this episode, but he's a cool guy.

Research online...? How? Vague rumors? Digimon website in this Ghost Game?

It seems some digimon already started to claim victims not too long after Hiro got Gammamon. I can guess it is around one or two weeks? Judging on the conditions of Dracumon, Mummymon and Clockmon's victims. But I don't think it's very important to discuss anyways.

I wonder about Angoramon protecting her since he said he often fought Dracumon off, I hope they didn't end up like Gaomon and Touma route...

I do wish they'd tone down the quick-cuts a tiny bit, but they do a good job of framing where it counts during the battle scenes, so I can let it slide.

On the one hand the "let the bad guy get away, bad guy has plans" might be a bit cliche, but it's a good setup for Hiro to maybe learn a lesson on what a villain is; frankly, Dracmon's speech about finding a bad guy to partner with was chilling (and a first for the series?), so I'll allow it. Angoramon's VA could have maybe emoted a little bit better too, but there's time for that later on (and maybe it's in the design).

Characterization continues to be pretty good. I like Hiro as a more low-key protagonist, but it was nice to see him step up and reach out to Ruri, and she got her own moments too.

One notable thing about the episode is that for years I’d assumed the eyes on Dracumon’s face were non functional and painted on his mask and that he had to use his hands to see. But I guess not if he can jump away so gracefully after giving a pair away
