The actual scene where Gammamon digivolves is pretty cool, with the implication that Myotismon increasing their connection so he feels Gammamon's pain actually facilitated them making it to the next level. And given their growing bond, it doesn't feel unearned. It just wasn't properly built up to within the episode given the focus of Ruli, and Hiro's smaller presence in the first half.

I was as disappointed as Matadormon was with Vamdemon's power lol. Expected more of a fight from him but I guess it's not the last of him or the other two Vampiric Digimon.

I agree that Dracumon deserved much better and it was an odd way to get rid of him.

As debut episodes for new evolutions go, Canoweissmon had a pretty meh first appearance, prefer the other two perfect/ultimate designs to him anyway.

Overall the episode had a nice premise with the vampire bits but it didn't work well as a Gammamon super evolution episode. Perhaps this should've been more Ruli centric and Lamortmon's debut instead.

Wow, quite a lot to break down in this episode. Despite seeing him in the preview, I'm glad I learned my lesson with Clockmon about not getting hyped over Dracmon's return as damn, he was done in like five seconds which begs the question about what the point in bringing him back was as it's not like he was the one who revealed the Tamers' existence to Vamdemon since that was Sangloupmon. As for Vamdemon, it was a pretty interesting setup though it unfortunately lead to me thinking this was supposed to be a Ruli/Angoramon centric episode which meant that Canoweissmon's debut felt completely flat. Although some of that might be the fact that it also felt super weird that Gammamon got there from Betel, feels like it should have been Gulus being purified or something that causes the leap forward to Perfect form. Despite the boost in power, all three of the baddies end up escaping which I presume will tie into future episodes but we'll have to see if that actually goes anywhere significant.

Overall, not the greatest debut of the hero's Perfects. Hopefully Jellymon and Angoramon will fare better.

I think this episode was great.
I loved the vampires plot.
Another creepy opening scene wity Aviel ans Pachepa biting the ladies and turning them into vampires. Was there any previous indication that Digimon could turn humans into vampires?
Ruli is invited into trying a dessert. Angoramon correctly distrusts the invite.
Once Ruli is there, she notices Dracumon. He is back after a long time. The dog turns into Sangloupmon.
Ruli realizes the vampire stuff. He reveals Vamdemon is the leader. Vamdemon kills him as he wants to bite Ruli, himself. I think this was a waste of Dracumon's potential. Vamdemon reveals his plan to rule the world as a vampire king.
The others show up. The other assistant was Matadrmon.
Vamdemon easily defeats BetelGammamon and especially TeslaJellymon which turns back into Jellymon.
One of Vamdemon's bats infects BetelGammamon with a virus which makes Hiro feel his pain.
Vamdemon knows BetelGammamon is special and wants to know why.
Hiro is able to prevent BetelGammamon from side evolving into GulusGammamon.
BetelGammamon then evolves into Canoweissmom.
The fight with Vamdemon was well done.
Vamdemon explodes but appears to survive as bats. Matadrmon and Sangloupmon leave. We may see all 3 of them again.

Marc pretty much got all of my criticisms for this episode. CanoWeissmon, as majestic as he looked in this episode, didn't feel like he belonged here as his debut wasn't really earned and the build-up to it was pretty weak. They could've done more with it and I feel it would've been better served in another episode entirely. Same with Dracumon, makes sense he's here with the other vampires, but what's the point of bringing him back if it's just going to result in functionally a minute cameo before being offed? It feels like a complete waste of what could've been a recurring antagonist, especially for Ruri.

Still, I did like the episode overall. Canoweissmon again looked really good in animation so it was nice to see how he'd turn out even if the episode didn't use him well. I did like the atmosphere and it was great to see Sangloupmon (who made his first debut) and Matadormon alongside fellow vampire Myotismon. Additionally, Myotismon was played in a different way that I appreciated considering his Adventure persona has predominantly been the way the Digimon has been portrayed since (which is not bad by any means as it's a good classic, but variety is always nice)

I enjoyed the episode, albeit it has some flaws, but it was good enough I felt like re-watching it right away, and did.

There are indeed issues with it, in a non-plot related one I would mention the off-modelness the animation got at times, it was a bit distracting. I don't feel like repeating similar complaints others did, so let's leave at that.

Overall I enjoyed, it could be better but I still liked it a lot. I will wait and see how things develop from here.

Bartender throw through the doors.

My boy returned and didn't bite the dust. But Weiss still feels like an ass pull. I honestly thought that we would get Gulus and would have been fine with it lol. (So didn't say to my best friend he better keep away)

Poor ladies, I didn't expect Vamdemon is so good at flirting yet those lines he spoke of... It felt heartless... Vamdemon's personality is somewhat similar of the certain demons from Frieren manga... I wonder what do they come for...

Oh... Presenting the new jewelry before the public? No wonder!
That dog... I really suspected it might be Dracmon who evolved. Oh?! Vampire ritual started already?! I loled at the dog/wolf bit the random lady's leg just because it seemed so random but I noticed there is a new man that appeared to be the butler. This got me really curious if he is brainwashed or simply unaware of this but it's unlikely since he surprised me by biting other lady so suddenly as "Vamdemon" started it. It got me realized, it can't be... That suspiciously bright colored hair... It totally matched to Matadormon's?

Oh as usual, Ruli always attracted many kinds of dangers to herself like as if she is in Jojo's bizarre adventure which the stands attracts others no matter where!

Blood? So "Vamdemon" and the "servants" stacking up blood for what? I didn't expect they have same abilities just like the myth vampires whose had the mysterious powers to turn victims into his servants. I wonder if they are part of Phelesmon's cult or working for secret "boss"?

Ahh that wolf knew their home locations?! I'm surprised Gammamon or Angoramon didn't detect this.
Hmm that wolf can communicate with "Vamdemon"? It is really Sangloupmon... Or it must be some new ability in Ghost game?

Ehh? Female victims' undead skins appeared even at the day? Or already drained? Can't tell...

Hm?! DRACUMON?! If the wolf is there, then... Oh I totally didn't see that coming, there are three separate ones instead of having Dracumon evolving! To think I have to witness Dracumon, Sangloupmon, and Matadormon! My surprise was getting larger and larger as the wolf went out to eliminate Angoramon while transforming into the real form, Sangloupmon! And I was really surprised at how Vamdemon instantly destroyed Dracumon without a care even in front of Matadormon who Dracumon is supposed to be its Perfect level form! Then the butler undo his disguise to Matadormon! Well "Vamdemon" revealed wasn't very surprising but I'm actually surprised at that is what Vamdemon look like in "human skin" without the mask

lol Ruli slapped Vamdemon with... the Purse. He was totally not so amused...

Yes... The battle starts! But there are two Perfect ones! Eh?? Matadormon just backed off just like that?! To just witness only?! Even Sangloupmon... Without a doubt... They are most likely secret bosses if GranDracmon is involved! I wonder why Vamdemon have to test if humans suit to rule?

Of course, the bat spawning is dangerous to confront, it can be used in both offense and defense! I'm surprised at how Vamdemon infected BetelGammamon to link with Hiro to share the pain! How many new abilities Vamdemon got in there?!

No. NO WAY, Canoweissmon?!! And that sky dive attack... Hey isn't that move belong to a certain monster in Monster Hunter?!

Wow Vamdemon ran... Away. Completely undo his tricks to those victims like Phelesmon did... Hmm Matadormon and Sangloupmon will return one day. I'm surprised Matadormon didn't care about how Dracumon got destroyed.

I totally believed GulusGammamon will totally handle that situation against Vamdemon but I was so happy to witness the new evolution scene!

Not only that~! Sangloupmon!!! Pity I didn't get to see more battles for Sangloupmon!

My opinion in this ep? That was huge enjoyable ep!

Hiro feeling the pain from BetelGammamon reminds me of the Mihiramon episode from Digimon Tamers.
Vamdemon's plan backfired resulting BetelGammamon evolving to Canoweissmon.
lol Myotismon/Vamdemon was pierced by Angewomon's Celestial/Holy Arrow in the OG Adventure

And now he was pierced by Canoweissmon's Dragonia in Ghost Game xD

Wished he used Crimson Lightning/Bloody Stream though...or may be even have those women he bite turn to Ladydevimon
At least, Vamdemon doesn't go in the Ajatarmon route.

I've been watching Ghost Game with somebody new to the franchise and they said this one should have been 2 part episodes because they felt Vamdemon's battle was kind of rushed

I a little disappointed that they didn't give the Ultimate evolution a new theme OST like in Adventure 2020.

I just remember Bastemon is also a vampire Digimon right.

Well, so Betelgammamon evolves into canoweissmon, as expected, but now it remains to be seen if gulus, wezen And kaus will win perfect evolutions too, I hope so, and I confess that of these what I want to see the most is gulus and wezen.

Yeah, the series has totally lost my interest at this point. It’s even more episodic/disposable than 2020 and while it’s quality has been more consistent that’s merely meant it’s dying a slow death of wasted potential rather than 2020’s abrupt fall into unwatchable.

I know that there’s been a sudden shift in the western market in the past two years against any animated series with a narrative/plot but it’s been disappointing to see that reflected in Digimon during the past 2 years.

Like you could skip 20 episodes of Ghost Game and literally not miss anything of significance.

I agree with you on this. I'm beginning to suspect that Ghost Game along with most of recent digimon series have been hampered with studio interference resulting in episodic formula and I just don't think Toei really cares about Digimon as IP apart from all the merchs and money they could get from it. I really would like Digimon franchise to be given to another animation studio who really cares at this point

It’s not helped by the horror genre. Most horror stories are one shots so you feel scared for the characters. Horror with a recurring cast needs a ton of effort in order to provide tension and Ghost Game doesn’t succeed there. To use an analogy Goosebumps works because there’s a new cast each book and they (surprisingly for a kids series) don’t always survive. If the main character of each book was a hypothetical “Gary Goosebumps” then the narrative tension would fall apart as you’d know he’d survive each story fine.

Even modern Kitaro works because the focus of each story is some human being threatened and Kitaro shows up at the end to try to fix things with the tension being how much damage the evil Yokai can do before he gets there.

First, Ha ha Vande liked the episode. Now that joke is out of the way but This was something. I think the horror thing is working. Seems a bit weird for Hiro to evo but hey, next week I'm guessing. Still a pretty good episode. Let's see if Dracumon shows up somehow again.

The new line-up for 'Loose Women'

-------------------------------------------------

Digimon pretending to be Vampires pretending to be Humans pretending to be Businessmen. How avant-garde.

Ghost Game is once again up to its old tricks in an episode featuring another popular horror icon. Which makes me wonder if this opens up the possibility of seeing the likes of WereGarurumon Black at some point?
Much like SkullGreymon, it makes sense in retrospect that someone like Vamdemon would be better saved for a show like this, as opposed to the much lighter 2020.
Despite the restrictions placed on having everything be resolved in yet another self-contained plot, he still makes a respectable enough impression. Coming across as more zombielike compared to the familiar card-carrying villain from Adventure. I have to be honest and say I actually do prefer this take a bit more myself.

Dracumon finally pops back up to remind us he still exists, before ceasing to exist. Though this might shoot the promise of seeing GrandDracumon further down the road in the proverbial foot, we should not rule that out completely, particularly since the remaining antagonists present are all part of that particular line.
Even Vamdemon's fate at the end is distinctly vague, and it's a well worn trope of the genre that Vampires are very hard buggers to keep down permanently.

It has become something of a given now that despite all their prior experiences, the protagonists really have not developed sufficient savviness towards obvious red flags presented too them.
And despite boasting about not being taken in by scams, Danger-prone Ruri has only her trusty anti-bloodsucker bag to rely on after walking right into the middle of the consortium's bizarre grooming ritual, all part of a larger plan to lure the rest of the group in. Good thing for them Dracumon was simply too impatient to wait just a few seconds longer.
Matadrmon decides he'll just sit on his arse for the remainder, so it's up to Sangloupmon to show the only real initiative of the group by going outside to deal with Angoramon.
Things eventually culminate at the very top of Vamde-Tower, where a surprise development is sprung on us.

Initially all things pointed to this being very much a Ruri/Angoramon centric plot, but as I indicated earlier this is Ghost Game. Meaning that if by this point you still think for one moment what you fully expect to happen is going to happen, then you are even more naĂŻve then these kids. :p
Canoweissmon marks another point in the Gammamon storyline, where he (with the help of mind-linked Hiro) successfully manages to repress his inner-Gulus. The evolution is again short and sweet, just how I like it. The lack of a new song isn't a major issue, but I do wonder if there is some behind-the-scenes reason for that given how generous they were with the remake.

We have Perfect Levels for the Trio finally starting to make their way into the series at long last, the cast themselves are apparently more open to killing enemies now, and significantly darker tones are noticeably creeping into recent episodes. It's apparent Ghost Game is making slow but steady progress in some regards, but it's still unclear where this all might be leading.
