Gorimon sure had a more minimal role than people expected based on the preview. Bye bye.

Gammamon learned to say thank you. And we get Clockmon back, plus a Monitamon. Salamadamon cameo also, and he's dead.

Clockmon asks for help, Kiyoshiro tries to run off.

Gammamon learning to count, and perhaps the executioner is on their way to 1000.

The idea that the kids never considered Digimon could die feels like iffy writing...

Gammamon randomly chewing things may not be because he's hungry, but rather... just because.

Ruli trying to buy tactical gear for Angoramon is... a think.

And another Digimon is dead.

Jellymon floating down the street bragging was... funny.

Sunflowmon wants a kimono! Monodramons want... to eat daikons. And one is dead, wait, two... Savers tops Tamers for once.

Jellymon traveling around doing 'business' is great. We need more of Jellymon just floating around doing nonsense. She's complaining Kiyoshiro doesn't give her gifts.

She has Kiyoshiro's credit card apparently lol, and missed out on dying due to floating thru some glass before getting stabbed.

Bokomon just remembered who Sealsdramon is. Did... did they mistranslate D-Brigade? Or was that something new just for the 'test'.

Knife going for Gammamon. Good slow mo shot before the commercial showing someone leaping in front of him.

And Bokomon is dying. Gammamon is confused as Bokomon derezzes. 1000 for Sealsdramon.

And now we get Gammamon's sadness and rage, and black eyes and screaming. Evolution.

Very good use of the evolution visuals but making them 'wrong' for the first appearance of GulusGammamon. And Hiro just being confused at a 'black Gammamon', and the others trying to figure out if it's Gammamon or not.

GulusGammamon talking and being aware who he is, and sort of not caring is an interesting take on it. It's not the mindless monster. He's fully coherent, seems to remember everything, is more intelligence than Gammamon, he's just pissed. The voice works well. It's just Gammamon's voice, but less childlike.

Gulus looking at Hiro waiting for him to say the attack and getting annoyed when he doesn't worked quite well, especially Gulus just doing it anyways and killing Sealsdramon.

Gulus says he's leaving, Hiro knows hoe he feels, and flippantly leaves laughing. Gulus is framed very different than the 'dark' type evolutiosn tend to be. And then he blows a hole in the pseudo digital space to try and leave, which is also new, and different than what seemed to be possible previously.

Jellymon evolves to try and stop him, while also being more flippant, and Angoramon flies behind.

Gulus likes to talk, which really works well considering Gammamon's talking is often more generic type dialogue.

Gulus cracks and stops when he realizes Hiro jumps in front to save Angoramon and TeslaJellymon, as that's how Bokomon died. Then reverts to Gammamon.

Gammamon is still crying over Bokomon. Isn't clear 'what' he remembers at this point. Bokomon is a digitama again. And BlackTailmon Uver shows up to take the egg.

And Agumon Black watches it all from up above.

Gammamon definitely doesn't remember what happened as Gulus.

Bakumon passes on the hopes and thoughts Bokomon had for the kids and Digimon being a bridge between the worlds and people.

Hopefully the plot actually kicks in, as we've mostly just had standing around teases or quick flashes.

The new ED is... I dunno what to think of it so far to be honest. I feel like I need to feel the whole song. It isn't quite clicking with me. Really nice Tenya Yabuno art though.

Sealsdramon is played by Nobutoshi Canna. He was previously Examon in Xros Wars.

Monitamon was played by Naoki Tatsuta. He was previously Ganemon in Hunters and Garbemon in Adventure:.

Gorimon was played by Takato Yasuhiro. Yasuhiro has a long list of Digimon credits to his name including Elecmon in Adventure, tri., and Adventure:, Gekomon in Tamers, Gotsumon in Frontier, IceDevimon in Xros Wars, Fugamon in Hunters, Gomimon in Appmon, Vademon in Adventure:, and Pumpmon earlier in Ghost Game.

Sunflowmon was played by Hiromi Konno. Konno played Bacomon and Lunamon in Xros Wars. She returned to Lunamon in both Adventure: and New Century, including the evolutions in New Century.

I don't like Gulus that much the first time I saw him. It was like, yeah, the dark evolution and looks like a recolor of BetelGammamon with few modifications.
But this episode is another level. And I love GulusGammamon more now. To finally fully appear, and with that personality, that's sick.
This episode rocks.
Number 13 for Gulus full debut. Not a bad choice.

The episode took a turn to be darker then previous. I love Gulus a bit, because of he can speak more of an adult then the child, which is Gammamon is. The ending shows the evolution of Angoramon. Love to see the line drawn Digimon dancing with the beat of the song.

on the speaking voices, who had the speaking voices of the two Monodramon?

You're correct. Missed this due to the credits not having them, so...

The two Monodramon are uncredited. I'd need to listen to the voices closer, but that suggests either actors who had larger roles in the episodes, or simply uncredited cameos.

I might be wrong but I think this is the first instance of Dark Digivolution that wasn't the fault of their human partner* as well as the first to retain their full faculties.

*I'm not counting MetalGreymon Virus and SkullGreymon in 02 since that was Ken as the Digimon Emperor trying to deliberately induce Dark Digivolution.

Don't forget Meicoomon from Tri who went dark and berserk without anything from Meiko

Whoa this episode suddenly got so shocking!

I'm so glad to see Sealsdramon unlike Xros. But I didn't expect him to get killed so fast as Gammamon dark evolved! I was expecting Sealsdramon Vs Angoramon because of his ears can help to stop Sealsdramon's assassination.

GulusGammamon's face really reminded me of Mimic from Sonics! Totally vibes!

I didn't think GulusGammamon is actually intelligent despite usually berserk evolutions have zero mindsets. I wonder why humans telling digimon attack names really does matter...? It seems GulusGammamon knows this and waited for Hiro to call out but decided to kill Sealsdramon after declared Hiro useless for unable to call out.

RIP to Gorimon, two Monodramons, Flymon, Bokomon and other 995 digimon.

Didn't expect Selection D got mentioned!

Fair enough though what happened to Meicoomon was referred to as "mutation" rather than actual Dark Digivolution.

It was sad to see Monodramon and Bokomon killed but GulusGammamon was so dark and Black Agumon first anime appearance is this a sign that he’ll play a large role in future episodes?

This is definitely the episode I've been waiting for! Gammamon went dark after Bokomon sacrificed himself is probably the mirror opposite of Adventure 1999 with Gatomon after Wizarmon's sacrifice. And the dark version has actual character which is fantastic and his power level is probably on par with actual perfect/ultimate levels from what I could see

Nice ep here. I wonder if not showing Sealsdramon's Digitama getting picked up was intentional or not. I have half a mind that the BlackAgumon was actually Sealsdramon who degenerated after being "Killed". After all, Selection-D never stated that it had to be a Commandramon who took it. (It does in other media, but it was never mentioned here in GG.)

Tailmon Uver doesn't seem like it works for Hiro's Dad rather, it seems like it just took a delivery from him.

Quite a surprising episode in more ways then one. Sealsdramon being a flat out assassin with no amicable or redeemable traits was a first for the season as his goal was laser focused on getting a body count, something that was even worse then the mischievous Dracumon. It made for a good Digimon to unlock Gulus Gammamon as his actions were the perfect trigger due to how cold he was. Bokomon dying here also worked as we actually got to know him a bit before his demise and how attached he was growing to the group, so him dying here actually hurt because he's a character we care about.

As for the main event, I'll admit I was impressed by GulusGammamon. Design-wise he was my least favorite out of the four as he just seemed like a dark Betel and not in a good way. Here though he actually had weight for a 'Dark Digivolution' as unlike the others he was sentient, he was very aware of his actions and was still very cruel. It makes his appearance have more weight as it feels like a dark side to Gammamon that can't be controlled, and the way it was set up allows for future episodes to build on him even more then the usual examples.

They also seem to set up something else with the Black Agumon who was watching, it seems like a counterpart in role to Black Gatomon and is likely related to the villain, so now the question is when are we going to see the antagonist play his hand.

Nothing says "let's welcome the new year like traumatizing children. That's Gammamon and the kids at home, by the way.

You people begged for Digi-Deaths, and we finally got them...but at what cost?! At what cost?!

I guess if you wanna know if its a plot heavy episode, just check to see if Clockmon is present.

Miyuki Sawashiro really stole the show as GulusGammamon, really showing off her range.

I'm mostly surprised that Gulus made an actual debut before Symbare.

Who is it that was right from the start? It's me ! I said we would have Gulus in episode 13 and tada, here he is.

What freaks out is to see that Gulus seems to be his own person, I mean he "is" not Gammamon, he says it himself he is Gulus Gammamon, which would lead to say that Gammamon has two personalities in him: himself who is found at Betel / Kaus / Wezen and on the other side, there is Gulus.

We saw all of Gulus' attacks in the episode (interesting thing is to see that Gulus says that Hiro is useless and that he launches his attacks himself.), Which would imply that we would not see him again. , however I think we will see him again, if he is indeed another personality, then we can imagine that he will try to force dark evolution on his own.

We had an answer concerning the death of the Digimons, as in Savers, they become Digitamas again and in Ghost Game, it's Uver Tailmon who brings them back to the digital world.

In short, Gulus and Wezen are my favorite evolution of Gammamon.

I wasn't expecting this turn of events THAT fast.
And the 12 episodes build up was totally worth it. That what make it mpactful in the most possible way. I applaud for that.
Those cute random scenes of Bokomon mothering Gammamon weren't for granted. They did it on purpose. To HURT EVERYONE IN A PERSONAL LEVEL!

And like everybody else, yep, GulusGammamon stole the show.
I had the clue he was going to be something else, but THIS was another level!

Dark evolutions was always a cool feature shown in like, every season? I'm not the most loyal digimon fan around given I tend to ditch it everytime it goes to hibernation or severe nostalgia mode but I believe this is the first time we see an actual protagonist Digimon dark evolving and STAYING SENTIMENT?

I called it for at least talk. But yeah he did way more than that.

He showed full awareness of his time as Gammamon, vast knowledge of the executioner's nature and a very sadistic yet not entirely heartless specially when criticised about the lack of reason and motive behind mindless mass murdering.

He could totally see Hiro and the others as prey or puppets, yet he shown a certain acknowledge and expectation for them. Calling Hiro by his name hit me right there.

I mean uh acknowledge until he straight up attempted killing them but uh anyway!

GulusGammamon seems to be more than a branched dark evolution that happened in whim. I just see some clues here and there but it's a bit too farfetched to get any conclusions about what I suspect what Gammamon TRULY is but, guess have to wait to see.

Oh boy the moment they start killing Digimon, the show starts to get good. I guess the not wanting to kill in the previous episodes made this episode more impactful. Just hope that they keep the momentum and not go straight back to the usual stuffs.

BlackAgumon? Is he part of the Uver. group like BlackTailmon, lol. And Koemon as Digimon of the week for next episode, pog.
