So you wanna have your very own Digimon pet? Well then come on down to the Digistore!

What are Digimon you ask? They are a brand new Kingdom of life forms made of physical data. Pretty cool, right? A group of scientists discovered them a year ago, and after extensive research, have deemed them safe to release to the public.

So what are you waiting for? Come on down to your local Digistore and get yourself a Digimon.

~~~~~
So in this roleplay, a group of scientists discover a brand new type of life form, Digimon, and after "enough" tests, have deemed them safe to release into the public. People start adopting these creatures.
For the most part, all Digimon are of the Child stage and lower. Adult Digimon are extremely rare, and only typically are around if they wouldn't be noticed easily, ie, a Seadramon that lurks in the Bermuda Triangle, or a Mojyamon that lives on the Himalayas, or if they could be mistaken for a relatively harmless creature, like a Tailmon, in which case they are slightly more common, and don't necessarily stay as heavily hidden from society's eyes.
There are extremely low tech crummy "Digivices" that are made by humans for use with Digimon, and these "Digivices" will automatically upgrade into legit Digivices under extreme special circumstances, like for example, genuinely bonding with a Digimon, or selflessly protecting one from harm.
Some humans, however, aren't adjusting to the changes. They will cause havoc for Digimon and people who support them. It doesn't help that some Digimon, like Petit Meramon, end up burning houses down.
Now as for you, one way or another, you have a Digimon. Maybe you found one abandoned on the streets, or maybe you actually went to the Digistore and got a Digimon. But nonetheless, you have a Digimon. If you ask however, I will allow you to go a couple or so posts without a Digimon, if you end up getting a Digimon relatively quickly. Because the first few posts of the roleplay will talk about how Digimon from the Digital World are attacking the Human World, and how most people are abandoning their Digimon, or worse, so maybe you end up acquiring one of these as your partner.
Here are some rules:
No Godmodding.
Respect one another.
If problems arise, as your GM, I will solve them.
There isn't a minimum required, but please at least try to not make your posts too short.
Character Creation:
Name: (What is your name?)
Gender: (Boy or Girl?)
Age: (How old are you?)
Appearance: (What do you look like?)
Personality: (How does your character act?)
History: (Just give a short history of their life so far.)
Partner Digimon: (Your Digimon shouldn't be higher than Child, but if you ask, I may allow it to be Adult. If you wish to use a Digimon that doesn't have a level, ask first. If a Digimon has multiple official levels, try using the more often used level. If you want to however, you can use a different one of its official levels, like having Tailmon as Child instead of Adult, but please ask first.)
Partner Digimon's Name: (Humans don't call Yorkshire Terriers "Yorkshire Terrier", or Golden Retrievers "Golden Retriever", so why would they call every single Botamon "Botamon", or every single Nyaromon "Nyaromon"? Give your Digimon a name.)
Partner Digimon's Gender: (More of a preference than an absolute gender, as Digimon typically don't have a gender. Is it more identifiable as a male, or as a female?
Partner Digimon's Personality: (How does your Partner act?)
Partner Digimon's History: (Optional) (How did you two meet? What's their story?)
Other: (Did I miss something? Put it here.)
~~~~~

I'll have my character up soon. It's just on one hand, I'm having trouble making it realistic, as I need to tone it down some, and on the other hand, I don't want to waste all of this time making a character for a roleplay if nobody joins, you know.

Sorry if this is too stereotypical!

Name:
Kaede Oshiro (Pronounced: (Kay-d) (ō-she-rō )
Gender: Male
Age: 16
Appearance: Kaede stands at the average height of 5'5", he has a very lanky build with strong arms from years of rigorous Kendo training. He wears his long black hair in a low ponytail that helps keep it from getting in the way of his dark brown eyes. He has a rather slim and flat face, though he wouldn't notice unless someone pointed it out to him. Kaede's casual clothing usually consist of his favorite black and red striped polo, simple jeans and grey tennis shoes, practical clothing just in case he gets spontaneously involved in a sport of some sort. He is a very clean boy and bathes religiously after sport.

Personality: Kaede is a very competitive and confident boy, he tries his hardest in any task he's been given and will always take losing very hard. He is very formal and kind to those he meets, used to practicing large respect which he learnt through his dedicated practice of Kendo. Sometimes Kaede finds himself acting very up-tight and stressed out of his mind as keeping his formal attitude and his dedication to competition wear him down quite a bit after a while, resulting in Kaede wanting to be in control of certain situations and making him behave as a forceful ruler, momentarily believing that he is the strongest and most capable for any task, regardless of what it is, he'll often get very grumpy during these times, snapping at people when they confront him. This only happens when Kaede is very stressed out however, normally he is quite modest and calm, though he won't resist bragging when it's considered okay to do so.

History:
Born into a solid family with his Mother, Father and soon to come younger sister, Kaede grew up in a small apartment happily with his parents, attending primary school whilst his father worked and his mother tended to his younger sister.

Once he turned 8 years old, Kaede's mother encouraged the young boy to take up a sport as the child has always been very competitive and full of energy, similar to her when she was a child, and after a few weeks of trial and error, Kaede decided to take up Kendo, falling in love with it like a fish to water. He trained vigorously once he started and began focusing all of his time on his sport, allowing his grades to plummet slightly, though his parents turned a blind eye, since they considered his sporting ability quite exceptional.

Once Kaede turned 13 he recieved his first important title for Kendo beside the Kyū, becoming a 1-Dan student and rekindling his extreme enthusiasm for the sport that had slightly faded over the years. He then proceeded to work up through the ranks as time progressed, becoming a 2-Dan at age 14 and his current status, a 3-Dan at his 16th birthday. His parents and sibling have continued to support him over the years, as his family quickly became very sport orientated once his little sister decided to take up tennis, Kaede's mother spending her time taking the children to various practices.

His school life often went by smoothly, his love of competition causing him to want to take part in the many tournaments school's often have, though he has often been labeled a cry baby when he loses, since he tends to take his loses quite personally and to heart, resulting in some people being quite hesitant in competing against Kaede and allowing the boy to build up a slightly negative reputation in that aspect, though his respectful personality when not in competition helped win over the favor of the teachers and some of the more serious students, allowing the boy to have ample friends and social interaction.

Kaede discovered a love of rap music when he was around 12, using it to further motivate him in competition, he considers it a guilty pleasure and rarely discusses his love of it with others.

Partner Digimon: DemiVeemon (Line: DemiVeemon - Kotemon - Yaksamon - Grademon - Gaioumon)

Partner Digimon's Name:
Tsuwa (Derived from Tsuwamono, Japanese for a brave warrior. Pronounced Soo-wuh)

Partner Digimon's Gender: Male/Masculine

Partner Digimon's Personality: Curious and dedicated would be the words to describe Tsuwa now, though before he was rescued by Kaede he was extremely timid and skittish, hiding around the streets and avoiding any human that came close.

The Tsuwa now is extremely confident and approaches humans once more, only if Kaede is nearby of course. He loves watching his friend and partner train at Kendo and hopes to one day be big enough to join in. He would follow Kaede to the ends of the earth and loves spending time with the boy, feeling more like a younger brother than a 'pet' of sorts to the boy. This Demiveemon needs to know the answers to any questions it has and will often stop what it's doing to scope out an item of choice, showing his extreme curiosity.

Partner Digimon's History: Bought into the human world when he was just young, Tsuwa was soon bought to the Digistore and sold to a wealthy family with a young child. Tsuwa was pampered for a few weeks, becoming the highlight of the family and being showed off to any and all that came by the family. He was a prized possession, they thought of him as an expensive virtual toy, not similar to a real creature.

Eventually more and more people began acquiring digimon and soon enough the young childs enthusiasm began to fade, eventually only interacting with the DemiVeemon to simply feed it and clean up any messes. The parents were quite grumpy with the daughter for getting bored of the expensive digimon, and yet they eventually blamed it on Tsuwa instead, attributing it to being 'faulty', they tried to take it back to the Digistore, but they wouldn't take the digimon back, causing the family to just have to deal with the creature. They became increasingly neglectful and eventually started forgetting the DemiVeemon existed for days at a time, leaving the poor thing tired and hungry.

Once reports started stating that some digimon were becoming violent and causing trouble, the family silently praised for the opportunity they had been given to finally be rid of the creature under the guise of safety concerns. So, fake digivce and all, they threw Tsuwa out onto the street, shutting the door behind them.

People on the street's reaction to Tsuwa were less than ideal, often kicking the poor thing if it came across their path until the digimon took up residence outside of a Kendo center, and met a certain boy on his way home from late night training. After bonding over the digimon's facination with Kaede's Shinai, the digimon let down his guards and let Kaede take him home and nurse him back to full health, making a true friend and earning his name Tsuwa after telling Kaede his story.

Other: Kaede is in possession of the Digivice that came with Tsuwa, as the little creature kept it as it's only possession when on the streets.

Okay Clawwer, you're accepted.

And no, it wasn't too stereotypical. I actually enjoyed reading all of that; it was so well written, and it made me feel embarrassed over the mess I almost used for my character.

Glad to have you. Now I just gotta finish my character, and wait for a few more people to join, and we'll be in business.

Okay Deino, you're accepted.

And Clawwer, I'd like that help. Here's what I have so far:

Name: Daniel Reap
Gender: Male
Age: 19
Appearance: Daniel stands at 5'9". He has a strong build, due to constant training, and the constant fights he gets in. His black hair is kept at medium length, with a bang going down in front of his right brown eye. Daniel wears black clothing typically, with a leather jacket, gloves, and boots. His most important clothing item is a silver heart shaped locket with a picture of himself at 2 years of age, his older sister (who was 17), and his parents, which is stained with his sister's blood, and has a claw mark across it. Engraved inside of it is something his sister said to him before passing, "Never quit fighting for what you believe in."

PERSONALITY: Daniel tends to stay by himself. He doesn't like other people much, and likes interacting with them even less. When he does though, he can be a real jerk. He will never let anyone slow him down, or stop him from accomplishing his goal, which is why he distances himself from everyone. He does however tend to act relatively nice to children, and is able to show compassion towards weak and/or injured creatures. (I actually have a social disorder, a form of autism to be exact, so explaining social characteristics about people, like a personality, are really hard for me.)

History: Daniel's parents died in a car crash when he was 2. His big sister stepped up and took care of both of them at the time. Life was relatively normal for them, as their parents left them a lot of money, until Daniel was 12. He and his sister Kristy went on a camping trip in the woods. On the third night, Daniel heard howling, and went to investigate. His sister woke up, and noticing he was gone, went out to find him. Daniel continued to follow the sound of the howls, and when he found the source, it was a Fangmon (or any Digimon really. I just think Fangmon would work here). The Fangmon approached Daniel, and charged at him. He ran away as fast as he could, but he got cornered. Just before the Fangmon could attack him, Kristy showed up and shot at the Digimon with her gun. She missed though, and the Fangmon targed Kristy instead. It slashed at Kristy with its claws, severely injuring her. Daniel grabbed the knife Kristy had on her, and slashed at the Fangmon, slicing through its left eye. The Fangmon ran away.

Daniel went to get help right away. Kristy was taken to the hospital, but she died after a couple of hours. Before she did though, she gave him the heart shaped locked she was wearing, which was covered in her blood. She told him not to blame himself. The last bit of advice as a guardian and a big sister she gave Daniel was "Never quit fighting for what you believe in." which Daniel engraved into the locket on the inside.

Daniel ended up bouncing around from one foster care home to the next, as nobody was able to handle him. He refused to let these strangers be in charge of him. He ignored school, as the money that both his parents, and sister left him was way more than enough to get through the majority of the rest of his life. All he cared about was learning how to fight, hunt, etc, as he had unsettled business with a big bad wolf.

Daniel learned a lot of things, like how to survive alone in the wilderness, fighting skills, hunting and tracking skills, etc. Just useful skills in general.

When he turned 17, he told the whole foster care thing to fuck off, and started living on his own. He completely left school now. He had basic skills though, like pre algebra math skills, and well enough language skills. So he really didn't need to go anymore, especially since the main point of school is to get an education, to get a job, to get money, to live, and since he had more than enough money, he didn't need to go to school.

Daniel continued his training, and when he was 18, he learned about Digimon. He finally had a lead on the monster that killed his sister, and he sold all of his non essential stuff, stored the stuff with personal value in a warehouse, and sold his home. He had to follow this lead, and he wasn't going to let anything stop him.

Partner Digimon: Yukimi Botamon (Yukimi Botamon - Nyaromon - Plotmon - Tailmon/(Dark Digivolve) Black Tailmon - Panjyamon/(Dark Digivolve) Mad Leomon - Saber Leomon/(Dark Digivolve) Ancient Sphinxmon)
Partner Digimon's Name: Kristy
Partner Digimon's Gender: Female

Partner Digimon's PERSONALITY: Kristy is still young, so she doesn't have much of a personality, but she hates humans, and doesn't trust them, other than Daniel. She really cares for Daniel, and will do anything for him. She is shy, and when she is away from Daniel, she has panic attacks. She often feels like she isn't worthy of Daniel's time. She feels like she is slowing him down from accomplishing his goal. But then Daniel reassures her that that isn't the case, and she feels better again. She is connected to Daniel on an emotional level. Whenever he's angry, she's angry, and whenever he's happy, she's happy. (Again, social disorder, not good at this thing.)

Partner Digimon's History: Kristy's life hasn't been very detailed yet, as she isn't that old yet. She spent a few months living in a Digistore, when an angry mob came by and started causing trouble. She was attacked by the humans, and severely hurt by them. She almost didn't make it, but a passing human showed up, kicked some ass, and got her help. She still almost didn't make it even then. The human tried everything he could to help her, when a nearby "Digivice" started to glow. All she remembers after that was the human holding a real Digivice, and using it to heal her. Afterwards, the human started to leave, but she didn't want him to go, so she jumped into his arms. He took the hint, and decided to bring her and the Digivice with him.

Other: The Dark Digivolve thing is a plotline I have in mind for later.

So that's what I have so far. It was a lot worse a few days ago though, in case it doesn't look that bad, and I actually used your character sheet as a sort of guideline for writing mine.

Alright man, I can understand the difficulty you have, I have autism also.

His back story is what annoys me the most, the tragedy is just so...stereotypical, traditional and wrong. "OmG lyke his mUM dides and dad too now He DARK AND BROODING" is all I can see, and I'm sorry about that. His parents don't have to die for him to be a huge grump, go over to The Merge and read about my character Johnny, dark, brooding and cool yes! Tragic stereotypical story, no.

Daniels sister didn't need to die either, and that's what does it for me, it's just not needed, it makes it all appear like its just a think put in to make your character a special snowflake that all the other characters need to pay attention too.

Living on his own at 17 is impossible and having him suddenly have enough money to live the rest of his life is very 'convenient', not at all realistic.

There are other ways to make Daniel dislike a Fangmon. He could've seen it kill a favorite pet of sorts, or even simply corner Daniel as a child and scare the shit out of him. He could've seen a Fangmon just running around through the woods as a child and simply became obsessed with finding out what it was. It doesn't need to be dramatic.

His parents could've divorced when he was young to make Daniel sort of grumpy, and then he might've bonded with his sister until she had to move away one day. Maybe his sister had an obsession with digimon and asked Daniel to figure it out, there are so many possibilities that don't involve senseless death. His sister could've given him the locket before she left, things like that.

Daniel could've gotten involved with the wrong crowd maybe, that's as far as I'd go for his strength and survival skills. He might have unresolved anger and took up street fighting to combat it. He might've lived near the woods as a child and often went off walking, learning about his surroundings and how to survive.

Maybe Daniel was bullied at school, thus why he's so antisocial and angry at people, and why he learn't how to fight. There are so many other ways to do things without the death and suffering.

I'm sorry if this isn't super refined, but I wanted to get the worse things out of the way first, I've probably worded this badly. As for Kristy, I want to get Daniel fixed before we work on her. If you need more information ask me and I'll define what I said, if you don't get anything ask me as well, sorry if this is a little rushed of a critique.

I don't understand why people seem to act like a character having lost someone by death is a bad thing. Tragedy is normal. Like a hundred people die every second... or something like that, but anyways, it's not that uncommon. In fact, one of the greatest fictional characters ever, Batman, lost both of his parents at the age of 8, and he witnessed it, but people don't go around saying "He's a special snowflake, bad character design, hurpa derp derp". Instead, they praise him as being one of the greatest fictional characters ever. I know I do.

But to be honest, the parents dying thing was more of a convenience for me, as I needed to get them out of the picture. I'm not the most knowledgable about the subject, but from what I understand, a 2 year old isn't really going to be badly affected by their parents dying, especially if they didn't witness it.

Further more, he's not a special snowflake. He doesn't want to be treated like one. He'd more likely rather people fuck off than treat him as such. Tragedy happens all the time. It's nothing special. But I needed a reason for him to want to eliminate that Fangmon, and I figured a realistic way would be for his sister to have been killed by it, especially if it was somewhat his fault. Maybe I could have her end up in a coma from it instead though?

But again on the parents thing, I really need them out of the picture. Most parents aren't going to allow an unhealthy obsession over a monster that if this were real life and didn't follow tropes and such, he'd have practically no chance of ever encountering again, and even if he did have a realistic chance, they still wouldn't allow it as it would be "too dangerous" and what not.

Sorry if I'm sounding rude, I tend to get defensive over every little thing, which often gets me into arguments on the internet. I should work on that.

Edit: Okay I thought of something for the parents. They committed some sort of crime, and are locked up for life or twenty years or something, and as such, aren't able to do jack in raising Daniel. But now that causes a money problem, as before, I imagined that they simply had saved a lot of money, and were planning on using it for retirement or something, but then died, so it went to the kids.

But the type of person who'd commit such a crime that'd get them 20 or so years in prison usually aren't the type of person that has their life in order enough that they've saved a lot of money for retirement. Hmm.

Need to rethink the how he's staying alive angle.

Partner Digimon: Koromon/Agumon (switches, generally Koromon, but he goes long periods as Agumon)-Greymon-Metalgreymon—wargreymon (I don’t really intend to do any fighting in the story so I don’t think I will go past agumon or at the worst greymon, its not my intrest)
Partner Digimon's Name: Ag
Partner Digimon's Gender identifies as male
Partner Digimon's Personality: as Koromon childish, curios, brave, and a little teasing. As Agumon more laid back and funny, but at times wise and even philosophical. His stomach is a pit in any form
Partner Digimon's History: Ag’s digimon was found in Brian’s yard when he was 7, he might have been one of the earliest digimon as, at least as far as either of them remember. He hatched and was taken care of by Brian and his sister and the three became great friends. In those early days they knew of no other Digimon and the world was peaceful. As Koromon, Brian would as often as he could would take his small friend on field trips and to school, giving the small digimon many exciting experiences in the human world (as well as accidently tripping the alarm at the Newark art museum a few times). When digimon became more common the two where nearly attacked by a champion level digimon, Ag fought it off by digivolving to Agumon and the two took it upon themselves to defend people from rouge digimon and humans.

Name: Brian Rosato
Gender: Male
Age: 15
Appearance: blond hair blue eyes pale skin only about 5’5, light grey hoodie with red strips around the elbows and a blue strip in the middle of that, no pocket and make of a stretchy material, dark grey sweat paints, smooth material, t-shirt, running sneakers.
Personality: Brian is friendly but asocial and tends to keep to himself. When he does deal with others he often misses social ques and can get overwhelmed by excess attention, however he is not nasty and appreciates other people being kind to him even if it makes him uncomfortable. He spends most of his time reading nonfiction and designing aircraft in X-plane or playing KSP. He runs a lot and is in good shape but has no fighting experience. Though he tends to keep to himself he is very close with his younger sister, mother, and digimon partner.
History: other than finding Ag, Brian’s life has been normal. When he was younger most of his Human friends moved away, and it was exhausting for him to be around people at all, however he is very close with his partner and family. When he is not at school, running, or on the computer he and Ag try to deal with bad digimon, but they have only fought one so far. He hopes to one day be an Aerospace engineer

Actually, people do criticize and make fun of batman's tragic backstory. Didn't you see the Lego movie?

Anyway the thing is killing off parents and having them all evil and out of the picture just for drama is bad writing. Yeah people die. No one's arguing that. The issue is most writers use the death to spur a character into a stereotype of either overly tragic or dark and brooding and the thing is most people don't really turn out that way because of a single incident like that.

Point being made is, artificial tragedy is a bad reason for a character to get into trouble or be angry or be hateful or fight people or whatever other bad trait you're trying to give him.

Okay viperzerof-2, you're accepted.

Actually, people do criticize and make fun of batman's tragic backstory. Didn't you see the Lego movie?
People criticize every little thing. (I've seen people criticizing crying children, as awful as it is.) People also praise every little thing. (As much as you may hate it, some people still praise Hitler to this day. And they praise rape. And they praise kidnapping. Etc, etc.) What matters is if the majority of people are praising or criticizing it. Most people praise Batman, tragic backstory and all. So those people who are criticizing it, I lump them in with the other crazies who criticize every little thing. Especially because they wouldn't know good writing if it wrote on them in the face. (Okay that sounded more clever in my head.)

They don't understand Batman's story. Now for the most part, since it depends on what version of Batman, and even then, who's writing it, Batman didn't become all dark and broody because his parents died. He became dark and broody because he lost a lot of his childhood, and saw how things really work in the world. No, I'm still not talking about his parents dying, you damn one tracked numbskull. I'm talking about the fact that he CHOSE to at 12 years, to leave, and explore the world. During this time he had to master every single martial arts, push his body to peak human levels, and do tons of spiritual "soul" training and what not. He got to see the world how it really is, and stopped being a child at 12. That is what made him dark and broody. Well that, and the state Gotham was in when he got back. Just being Batman in general made him dark. It had nothing to do with his parents dying. All that did was give him the freedom to become Batman. And in some instances, turned him into a sociopath with no emotions who has stated repeatedly that if it weren't for his one rule to never kill, he'd be the exact same as the villains he locks up.

First off, Batman.

Second off, the parents dying had no real effect on Daniel, as he was only 2 years old, and wasn't there for the event. What made him the way he is, is something that is actually very commonly used in fiction: a desire for revenge. In actuality, he wasn't effected as much by his sister dying as he was over the fact that the monster that killed her was still alive and probably harming other people.

To be fair, I'm trying to make him less "hates life" and more "life would come into harms way if it hung around me, so I'm going to tell life to go the fuck away from me for its own protection". Like um, when Jason Todd died, how Batman refused to take on anymore Robins for awhile, because he didn't want to put anyone in harms way again, kind of like that.

Point being made is, artificial tragedy is a bad reason for a character to get into trouble or be angry or be hateful or fight people or whatever other bad trait you're trying to give him.
You all are over exaggerating the emotional/mental state I'm trying to peg Daniel at.

Also, Digimon has done this before.

Digimon Kaiser ring any bells? At least my character isn't a mental nut job who was able to delude himself into thinking he made a virtual reality game you can enter with your real body on a common computer. :\

The point stands that you all are putting words in my mouth and making things up. I've already tried working out the death parts, despite the fact I don't see any logic to the argument that it's "bad writing", especially if a lot of writers do it, and even more so that Batman involves it.

I decided that the parents could be in prison instead of dead. I figured his sister could be in a coma from the attack instead of dead.

What more do you want from me people?

Now I just gotta figure out the money problem, as without a home (so to speak) Daniel is going to need money to compensate, and I already stated my original plan of him inheriting the money his parents had saved up wouldn't work reasonably well with the type of people they are if they're in prison.

Actually, you know what, you're wrong. The death thing is not bad writing. Batman is irrefutable proof of this, as he is still an incredibly popular character. Plus you are misidentifying why the death thing was used. His parents' death had no effect on him because of his age, so I'm keeping that in, and if you don't like it, fuck off. I'm not putting up with this bullshit anymore. It never has and never will be bad writing, because again, BATMAN! Seriously though, until you can make Batman not a thing, there is no way you will be right here.

Now with the sister thing, I think it would be more interesting if she was in a coma instead. People can go about 7 years straight in a coma right?

So here is my updated character, this time sent from my phone, so hopefully I don't screw it up.

His most important clothing item is a silver heart shaped locket with a picture of himself at 2 years of age, his older sister at 17, and his parents, which is stained with his sister's blood, and has a claw mark across it. Engraved inside of it is something his sister said to him before she ended up in a coma, "Never quit fighting for what you believe in."

PERSONALITY: Daniel tries his best to follow his sister's advice, but unfortunately, he doesn't really know what he believes in. He often stays alone, and rarely interacts with others. He doesn't want people to be hurt because of him, so he pushes them away. He likes to solve his problems by himself, without anyone's help, and will usually refuse help. He feels like others will just slow him down. If you met him, you might think he is a real jerk, if you didn't know anything about him. He has been known to be relatively nice to children, and show compassion to weak and/or injured creatures.

If you ask him about the locket, often times he will seemingly go ballistic over the relatively harmless question.

Daniel never laughs, at least not from jokes. It's not because he's depressed or anything, it's just, even when he was a small child he never laughed. The therapists (or whatever) think he might have a disorder which makes him overly serious, which is why things like jokes, which often abstract from serious reality, just fly over his head. He's gotten better about it as time passed by though.

History: Daniel's parents died in a car crash when he was 2. It didn't affect him though, as he was only two years old, and wasn't there for the incident. His big sister stepped up and took care of both of them at the time. Life was relatively normal for them, as their parents left them a lot of money, which they were planning to use for retirement, until Daniel was 12. He and his sister Kristy went on a camping trip in the woods. On the third night, Daniel heard howling, and went to investigate. His sister woke up, and noticing he was gone, went out to find him. Daniel continued to follow the sound of the howls, and when he found the source, it was a Fangmon.

Kristy was taken to the hospital. On the ride there in the ambulance, she gave him the heart shaped locked she was wearing, which was covered in her blood. She told him not to blame himself. The last bit of advice as a guardian and a big sister she gave Daniel was "Never quit fighting for what you believe in." which Daniel engraved into the locket on the inside.

She was in intensive care for a few hours, and pulled through, unfortunately, the shock to her body put her in a coma, which she is still in to this day.

Daniel ended up bouncing around from one foster care home to the next, as nobody was able to handle him. He refused to let these strangers be in charge of him. He just wanted his sister back, and none of these people knew how he felt. Plus he always had a sinking feeling that the "wolf" he encountered that night memorized his smell and was following him for revenge, and he didn't want others hurt because of him. He ignored school, as all he cared about was learning how to take care of himself. Plus he still had the money his parents left him and his sister.

Daniel learned a lot of things, like how to survive alone in the wilderness, fighting skills, hunting and tracking skills, etc. Just useful skills in general. He wasn't a master or anything, just much more equipped so to speak than a normal person would be.

When he turned 17, he basically told the whole foster care thing to fuck off, and started living on his own. It did help that the government stops giving a fuck when the child turns 17. He completely left school now. He had basic skills though, like pre algebra math skills, and well enough language skills, so he really didn't need to go anymore.

Daniel continued his training, and when he was 18, he learned about Digimon. He remembered the "wolf" that had put his sister in a coma, and remembered how it seemed off, and started to draw a connection. A connection that he had to follow through on.

Partner Digimon: Yukimi Botamon (Yukimi Botamon - Nyaromon - Plotmon - Tailmon/(Dark Digivolve) Black Tailmon - Panjyamon/(Dark Digivolve) Mad Leomon - Saber Leomon/(Dark Digivolve) Ancient Sphinxmon)
Partner Digimon's Name: Kristy
Partner Digimon's Gender: Female

Partner Digimon's PERSONALITY: Kristy is young, so she is timid. It doesn't help that her first real encounter with humans nearly cost her her life. She hates humans because of how they are attacking innocent Digimon, but finds comfort that at least one human (Daniel) is a good person. She doesn't trust Digimon or humans, because of the aforementioned hate of humans, and because a Digimon put Daniel's sister in a coma after nearly killing her. She will give everyone the benefit of the doubt if and only if Daniel is okay with the person.

Kristy looks up to Daniel like a big brother or a father. She follows him everywhere, and is always looking for his approval. She has connected to him on an emotional level, so whenever he's angry, she's angry, and whenever he's happy, she's happy.

Contrary to Daniel, Kristy is often laughing, but only around Daniel. She feels like she can keep him happy if she is cheerful, which is why she does it.

Partner Digimon's History: Kristy is still young, so not a whole lot has happened, but one big thing did. The Digistore she was at was attacked by an angry mob of humans, and the place ended up catching on fire. Being a Yukimi Botamon, too much heat is life threatening to. All of the other Digimon escaped, but the heat was too much for her and she got trapped in there. She cried out for help, when a human broke through the mob and rushed into the building. He found Kristy, and picked her up. She was holding a "Digivice" at the time as she was trying to get help. The human ran out of the building with her. Not knowing what to do to help her, but wanting to help her, the "Digivice" glowed, and turned into a real Digivice, and gave the human a profile of Yukimi Botamon, explaining how they require colder environments. The human got her a pack of ice, and she she recovered. One thing led to another, and they eventually became partners.

Other: Daniel isn't book smart, but is street smart. The Dark Digivolve thing is a plotline I have in mind for later.

Edit: I just wanted to say I'm sorry if I came off too rude. I think something is wrong with my mood stabilizer pills, or something, because I'm been feeling really off mood wise. I meant no offense nonetheless.

Calm down, Reap. I don't care how many disclaimers that you didn't mean to be rude that you post. You told me to fuck off. That is completely and utterly unacceptable behavior in a public forum.

Considering my educational background I'm pretty sure that I'm not wrong about a trope that runs rampant in young adult oriented writing, and I'm pretty sure I'm educated enough to "understand" Batman.

Now... I've been on meds that haven't worked for me as well, but letting that bleed into somewhere public like this isn't so great. It helped me to write things up in a word document and edit it and edit it, until I got the mood out of my system. Then delete the word document. But it's really not cool to kind of go off on someone and tell them flat out that they're wrong and don't understand something just because you didn't like their opinions or feedback.

I was simply expading upon what Clawwer commented. I stand by the points I made, and further add--if an event has little to no impact on a characters life, then its probably not necessaty to have happen in the first place. The changes you made really weren't much better. It's still using tragedy as a crutch for charactsrization, and there's just no other way to slice that.

You don't have to like it. But if I see another "fuck you" directed at me or anyone else I will be an unhappy mod and there will be problems. You're lucky you didn't get a suspension right out for that. No one is out to get you so try not to take things so personally.

Sorry, I've been sick in real life, so I haven't been getting on much. You can do what you want for now. But eventually we should all meet up.

Try to space it every two sentences or so, or when someone talks! That makes it easier to read and stuff.

I'm making a post now as I type this, should be up in about ten minutes or so!
