It's been awhile since we got one of these...

After a significant wait (with a number of teasers to hold us off), Bandai has finally updated Digimon Chronicle X!

Chapters 1 and 2 in English can be found here.
Chapters 3 and 4 in English can be found here.

First, a translation of the comic page above...

Top right- Request for help! Request for help!
Bottom right- This is the dark area!
Top left- The battle royal has finally been finished...
Bottom left- Let's hear what the winner thinks for the future of this world...

Before the new chapters, Bandai also tweeted that they opened a few new pages on the X-Evolution related subsite.

The pages don't have any real new information, but the pages being added at all are certainly a tease:
An introduction page to the Royal Knights.
An introduction page to the Seven Great Demon Lords.

Both simply give a short overview of the group, while also allowing you to read the reference book profiles for the various Digimon.

With the Seven Great Demon Lords getting recent story content explaining what they were doing during the timeframe of the Digital Monster X, it makes them getting a page even more relevant.

Onto the new chapters!

Update- Translations for Chapter 5 and 6 replaced with ones from onkei.

Chapter 5- GrandDracmon
GrandDracmon plans to make all Digimon undergo Death X-evolution.

He appears in the old Digital World and makes all of the Digimon he defeats Death X-evolve before sending them to the Dark Area.

Through a battle royale system, where strong Digimon may be attacked consecutively without them becoming subordinate, the last Digimon that survives (the Digimon you raised in Black & White) becomes sealed in the Dark Area as a last act of defiance against GrandDracmon and his immortal body.

However, by creating the Dark Area and appearing in the old Digital World, GrandDracmon's actions have an affect on the boundary between the old Digital World and the Dark Area. Some of the Seven Demon Lords sensed this and saw this opening as a chance for achieving their own goals...

Chapter 6- Dark Area
In the Digital World, there exists a netherworld area called "Dark Area," where Digimon who've reached the end of their life or are defeated in battle are sent to.

Unlike the surface area of the Digital World, where File Island and Folder Continent exist, the Dark Area exists in an altogether separate layer. It's for this reason that the X-Program, that was put into effect by the initiation of Project Arc, did not reach the Dark Area nor have any influence over it.

In the Dark Area, Anubimon, a Digimon who defends and supervises its land, judges the Digimon transferred there as good or evil. The data of bad Digimon is sealed in the Dark Area, while the data of good Digimon are restored as Digieggs.

However, among the evil Digimon who were sealed in the Dark Area, there exists a Digimon who uses the Dark Area as its base and is so powerful that not even Anubimon can lift a finger against it. The Seven Demon Lords also use the lowest layer (cocytus) of the Dark Area as their stronghold.

The battle royale to determine their future, a motion that was declared by Jesmon, regains peace and quiet for the old Digital World once its conclusion has been met.

However, that tranquility did not last for long. The Digimon who won the battle royale is just about to announce its victory, when an explosion goes off in the distance and a shockwave sweeps over the old Digital World.

Jesmon senses this abnormality and rushes to the center of the explosion, but what he sees there are the evil Digimon that were sealed in the Dark Area fighting a gruesome battle.

Some fun story content, and likely teases for more V-Pets.

They did leave one more surprise though. Chapter 7 is listed as coming tomorrow.

So... more to come...

This is going to be huge! Love how the Dark Area is being introduced in the X-Antibody verse through GrandDracumon & Anubimon! Not being affected by the X-Program leave us room for an amazing storyline. By the way what is the Cocytus Castle? 😮

The final showdown Royal Knights X VS Seven Great Demon Lords is getting close!!!

I thought it was Cerberumon Werewolf Mode when I first saw the new comic but I took a closer look at that comic panel and indeed it's Anubimon after reading below all the translation down noticed Anubimon picture had me confused... lol

But did Anubimon use telepathy to contract Jesmon? And the unknown monster... Shot the beam but it's hard to tell. Look like it's something riding on dragon-like monster to me.

Wouldn't it make more sense story wise for Grandracumon to be the one that gets sealed in the dark area? Are we sure this translation is correct?

There’s never been any indication that GranDracmon is sealed in the Dark Area.

Is it just me or the description of evil digimon residing within dark area does look confusing?

"There exists a digimon who uses the dark area as its base and is so powerful blah blah."

"The seven demon lords AlsO use the lowest layer as their stronghold."

Does it mean that Royal Kinghts are supposed to confront 8 evil entities from dark area in this final showdown? And who that powerful digimon might be? I'm really confused, any help and clarification would be greatly appreciated.

Presumably the evil Digimon in question is GranDracmon. It has a castle in the Dark Area, while the Seven Great Demon Lords use the Dark Area's lowest circle Cocytus as their base of operations.

Holy crap, this has some really nice but puzzling Information about the Dark Area. It's always been clear that it's not a normal part of the Digital World, with how many weird and sometimes inconsistent categorizations Digimon likes to throw around it was always unclear how connected the dark area is supposed to be to the normal Digital World. Adventure potentially equated it to the dark ocean, putting it into a whole different dimension. Frontier just visualized it as a (rather boring) physical sphere in the middle of the world while Next had it as a sort of sub-dimension which seems to be what the profile lore views it as, although previously the most specific they got about it was "spacial distortion" that was somehow physically accessible through the net ocean.

Now we can be sure that it's a more separated sub-dimension, while other tidbits raise some very interesting questions about the digital world...
The first and foremost being that Yggdrasil seems to have no direct influence there, meaning although he styles himself a god, capable of restructuring the entire world, that layer is beyond his domain (making him a somewhat less significant god than he already was).

And now we also have the claim that GrandDracmon created the dark area. This might lead one to question if the entire system of reincarnation was even part of the digital world's actual design. If Yggdrasil cannot influence the Dark Area and it was created by someone else then the very fact that deleted data gets transferred there and potentially reborn might be something that Yggdrasil never intended or wanted. (It might also be possible to read that statement in the sense that GrandDracmon created the Dark Area in its current state as a stronghold for undead and evil Digimon)
Which leads us to the question of if the Dark Area interfaces with the New Digital world at all. If it doesn't (And the demon lords emerging in the old digital world rather than the new one seems to speak for that), that might mean that Digimon deleted in the NDW are dead for good with no possibility of reincarnation.
It's not something that was ever brought up or that I really thought about, but it makes perfect sense considering Yggdrasil's motivation of creating the NDW in the first place.
After all, the X-Program was only launched because the Digimon Population was starting to get out of control... and of course it would do that if the network feeds in new data while the old Digimon get reincarnated over and over, the amount of data never diminishes (and the small subset of Digimon with abilities to permanently delete data is probably statistically insignificant). And like basically every programmer can tell you, if your program runs out of memory... implement better garbage collection, free up resources that you don't need anymore, which is exactly what a Digital World that discards dead data instead of keeping and reusing it would do.

And now we get to Anubimon... who was always a bit of an enigma, since he was never directly associated with Yggdrasil, God or any other presumably ruling force in the Digital World, yet his work is (or used to be) important for the working of the old Digital World. But with Yggdrasil not being involved with the Dark Area it seems unlikely that Anubim would be stationed there by him. It feels more like he is a free agent who just happened to have the power of judging the dead because that's inherent in his data and so he just went without external and judged because that's just what Anubis does, leading to the digital world having a weird mix christian hell and Egyptian cosmology that was never consciously designed by anyone and just arose spontaneously.

This would further confirm that, besides the very underlying structure there is nothing actually "natural" or rather supernaturally pre-constructed about the Digital World or its general cosmology. Rather than that, just like in Tamers, the world might have existed in a neutral state until Digimon the Digimon themselves like GrandDracmon and Anubimon started to create similes of the cosmology in human religions based on the data that created them. Which might go a long way to explaining the paradox of the portrayal of God in the Digimon Lore, as he is at once attributed with all manner of godly aspects and abilities as taken from Christianity but also simply referred to simply as a human; Perhaps in reality he is just human but influenced by the information about God in the network the actual powers simply manifested around him by themselves and not because of his own nature.

...anyway this is getting me more pumped about Digimon than anything did in years. Maybe they'll find a way to semi-retroactively involce GrandDracmon in the events of the original Chronicle Story with Death-Xmon and all that if he's confirmed to be the main force behind everything Death-X now.

It's a legit assumption, though chapter 5 provides some contradictory data about it.
Thanks by the way.

That's not what I meant. What I meant was that if the winner of the gauntlet was sealed in the Dark Area in chapter 5, how could he be announcing his victory in chapter 6? How do you go from being sealed in the DA to announcing your victory and bringing peace to the old digital world? That leaves a lot of unexplained events in the story. If, on the other hand, it was Grandracumon the one that was sealed, then the story makes more sense:
Yggdrasil discovers old digital world->sends Sleipmon and Craniumon to investigate->they ask for help from Jesmon->Jesmon creates gauntlet->Grandracumon starts messing things around->the digimon from the v-pet seals Grandracumon away and announces his victory

It doesn't make sense that grand dracumon would be sealed in its own realm that he himself created. To me it seems like the Digimon you raised was indeed the one who won by defeating grand dracumon, but as chapter 5 says, GrandDracumon has an undying body, so even if he lost the battle, he still was able to seal the actual winner of the gauntlet in the dark area and proclaimed himself as the new winner in chapter 6 (since he can basically return from death at any point as shown in Hacker's Memory)

So it would be like this:
The Digimon you raised wins the battle against granddracumon->Your Digimon becomes the champion as seen in the quest mode of the Digital Monster X->GrandDracumon returns from death and seals the winner in the dark area->GrandDracumon proclaims himself as the new winner->the 7GDL scape the dark area thanks to the influence of granddracumon

That's a lot of speculation required to make the story work. Besides, how does Grandracumon winning bring peace to the old digital world? His plan was to turn every digimon into death x digimon, that doesn't sound peaceful. And we don't really know enough about the dark area to claim that Grandracumon can't be sealed in his own realm, so that's not really an argument.

Onkei knows what she’s doing. There’s no reason to think the translation is flawed.

It's probably something that will be properly explained when they (very likely) bundle an expanded version with the V-Pet itself again
