Finally, the big missing pieces from the best Digimon game make their way into the DRB.
In terms of their poses the official art is fairly similar to the concept art we got on Pixiv a few years back, which leads me to assume that those were really the only art references that remained of them.
I think one especially interesting aspect of BEMmon's design is its eye, the original PS1 graphics weren't really detailed enough to make out the details, the concept art made it look like a standard default Digimon eye but now the Bandai art seems like it's going for a robotic camera kind of look. Snatchmon is probably the same, I just wish they posted higher resolution art on twitter.
There is nothing too mind-blowing in their profiles but there's still a few interesting parts. I believe Snatchmon's profile is the first mention of cannibalism in the lore, and the process that created him is possibly a reference to the Kodoku/Gu ritual that has also been featured in various anime/manga.
Ragnamon is an interesting contrast to HiAndromon as an alternate interpretation of a perfected Cyborg Digimon. Whereas HiAndromon has improved into the direction of autonomy (and some would by extension argue "humany") by gaining self awareness and being able to operate on its own, Ragnamon on the other hand went the other route of evolving into a being focused on obtaining maximum fire power, but at the cost of that very same autonomy.
The profile is silent on the question of whether or not Ragnamon has a proper consciousness that just isn't able to manage the complexity of its body on its own or if it is a ego-less tool like some Machine type Digimon. The first possibility would be an interesting concept that Digimon has not yet explored. Part of what made the "Tamer" concept always seem a bit forced and suspect is that most Digimon would manage just fine on their own, here we have something that could put the teamwork aspect better into focus, not that I would hold my breath for that actually happening.
On a side note, I was not expecting Gaiamon to show up or be mentioned I guess I was at least expecting some oblique reference to Ragnamon being potentially capable of merging with even more data. The sole reference that remains of it this is that the "Fusionize" attack/ability is still listed on Ragnamon's page.
