Well, I never expected these lads to ever see the light of day again. Neat. Give us even more Bandai, there's quite a few video game only Digimon that need love such as all those guys from the DS era.

> After multiple Vemmon have grown strong and started cannibalizing each other, the Vemmon left standing becomes Snatchmon.

Jesus Christ Bandai

Sheesh! We had a lull regarding updates for a few months and suddenly they just dump five new ones in a week.

This has been one of the most exciting updates to the Digimon Reference Book. I never thought I’d see Bemmon, Snatchmon, and the rest of the Digimon World 3 villain exclusive get profiles. This gives me so much hope that we might get to see other game-exclusive and “lost” Digimon get official profiles. 😍 (Lol now Būmon/Oinkmon need some love haha)

It's interesting how Vemmon and Snatchmon are Unknown-attribute, but Destromon and Ragnamon are Virus, because it merged with a battleship?

I think that makes sense to me since Bemmon and Snatchmon are kind of blank slate artificial digimon, while Destromon and Ragnamon are basically Snatchmon becoming a virus in and of itself, consuming and assimilating a phyiscal object to become a new form.

Really perked up my night seeing these guys. I didn't get to finish World 3, but I remember being intrigued by Bemmon and I always wanted to see more of it and the rest of its line. I'm glad to see them finally become a part of the Reference Book, particularly since the only artwork they had before was the concept art.

Now hopefully we get other Video Game only Digimon like the Grimmon and Chronomon lines.

I get happy anytime the digimon reference book adds an old digimon to it, doesn't matter if it's a recolor or anything of the sort. So I am very happy with these updates, very exciting news!

I recall people theorizing that it would never come to the DRB due to "right issues" (a common theory anytime an old but seemingly important digimon stays years without being added). Thankful this was indeed not the case!

Not for me. I find it very weird. Normally a digimon is birthed and gained the attribute in the digital world. But reading those profiles, it sounded like the experiment was designing the digital bio weapons to do "The Thing" with its special ability to fuse with.
Bemmon and Snatchmon may be Unknown listed because of their existences are artificial digimon. But fusing with "Real life human world" weapons granting their higher evo forms the Attributes? How possible is that? In this logic, it gotta have to be at least warship digimon or satellite digimon victim being Thing'd that really makes sense!

Holy Sukamon. About time.

Destromon is perfect. No, not a pun but I love that machine.

why is everyone calling it Vemmon. it's BEMmon. BEM. it stands for Bug-Eyed Monster because the entire joke about BEMmon and Snatchmon is that they're based on aliens.

Interesting that the way they made the levels on these things positions them as a line, especially given said line is entirely different than the order you encounter them in in World 3. Presumably they're going to show up in the card game soon.

Localizers named it Vemmon most likely due to not noticing the BEM intention on its name.
The fact its name is romanized as ベムモン also helped on the misunderstanding.
You can check stuff up better here (in case you haven't already).

Regarding their positioning... That's BEMmon's line, despite the game not making it clear.

Friends of mine playing DCG also theorize that. If so, blessed be the DCG for helping obscure DGMN get the attention they deserve.

Have they changed it? I see them all as unknown.

Yep their profiles already got retconned. Which is funny because their written profile still says they're cyborgs.... even though theyre not listed as that on the stat section. So I guess theyre two types now, Unknown and Cyborg at the same time.

I guess they changed their minds with the types/attributes and later decided they should go the Eosmon route of "artificial = Unknown".

Wonder what's the occasion for this update. The most obvious one seems to be that it's the designer's birthday, but hopefully it also means that they'll show up in the Card Game soon.

I noticed a few weeks ago a similar situation where Ponchomon's profile states very clearly that it's a "Ghost type" twice, yet its Type is listed as "Mutant"

I wonder if it is due to how it's supposed to evolve (a dead Togemon) and this counting as a "mutation". Could also be due to Sincerity/Purity Digimental digimon often being categorized as Mutant, as well.

Finally, the big missing pieces from the best Digimon game make their way into the DRB.
In terms of their poses the official art is fairly similar to the concept art we got on Pixiv a few years back, which leads me to assume that those were really the only art references that remained of them.
I think one especially interesting aspect of BEMmon's design is its eye, the original PS1 graphics weren't really detailed enough to make out the details, the concept art made it look like a standard default Digimon eye but now the Bandai art seems like it's going for a robotic camera kind of look. Snatchmon is probably the same, I just wish they posted higher resolution art on twitter.

There is nothing too mind-blowing in their profiles but there's still a few interesting parts. I believe Snatchmon's profile is the first mention of cannibalism in the lore, and the process that created him is possibly a reference to the Kodoku/Gu ritual that has also been featured in various anime/manga.

Ragnamon is an interesting contrast to HiAndromon as an alternate interpretation of a perfected Cyborg Digimon. Whereas HiAndromon has improved into the direction of autonomy (and some would by extension argue "humany") by gaining self awareness and being able to operate on its own, Ragnamon on the other hand went the other route of evolving into a being focused on obtaining maximum fire power, but at the cost of that very same autonomy.
The profile is silent on the question of whether or not Ragnamon has a proper consciousness that just isn't able to manage the complexity of its body on its own or if it is a ego-less tool like some Machine type Digimon. The first possibility would be an interesting concept that Digimon has not yet explored. Part of what made the "Tamer" concept always seem a bit forced and suspect is that most Digimon would manage just fine on their own, here we have something that could put the teamwork aspect better into focus, not that I would hold my breath for that actually happening.
On a side note, I was not expecting Gaiamon to show up or be mentioned I guess I was at least expecting some oblique reference to Ragnamon being potentially capable of merging with even more data. The sole reference that remains of it this is that the "Fusionize" attack/ability is still listed on Ragnamon's page.

Yeah it's really cool all Bemmon evo forms got to keep its unique ability "Fusionize" implying Gaiamon incoming at finally or not.

It's really weird to witness Destromon being confirmed as a Perfect form of Bemmon. He is way too powerful for being a Perfect.
Eh whatever. I wonder if that mysterious suspicious boss aka "Mega" lord I forgot will get digimon'ized?

The official Type differing from how the profile refers to the Digimon is nothing new. Megadramon I think is the original case, being referred to as a Dark Dragon Digimon instead of a Cyborg, while Dagomon is described as an Evil God Digimon instead of an Aquatic Beast Man. Probably there are other examples, besides the aforementioned Ponchomon.
