I was expecting these to be weekly, but at this rate, every new Digimon from the movie will be in the Reference Book by next week. I wonder if Agumon and Gabumon will be added simultaneously or not.
One of Gabumon Bond of Friendship's attacks is named レドルスター. The best name I could get is "Redl Star", and the best reference I could track was the
Redl-Zipf V-2 rocket facility. As there's no Japanese article for the facility, or for
the Austrian train station of same name, I can't be sure the katakana used is the same one they use for the place. Looking up people named Redl, the Austrian officer Alfred Redl is アルフレート・レードル, but
the biopic about him is 連隊長レドル.
Any idea if the name could be something else? Because the only other thing I could find was a monster from
Ultraman Tiga.
Also, there's one thing I wanted to mention that I don't know where else to bring up, doesn't warrant its own thread, and I thought it should be in a place that people not reading the discussion threads can see. I mentioned in the
Kizuna discussion thread that Akatsuki Yamatoya, the movie's screenwriter, is also a horse owner and owns a race horse named Eos Mon. When I first saw this on Twitter I thought "Oh, the guy named one of his horses after the Digimon", but as it turns out
Eos Mon was born in 2017, so it seems more likely the Digimon was named after the horse.
The prospect of Yamatoya asking a Digimon to be named after one of his horses may explain why Eosmon is designed so differently from the other Roman/Greek Digimon. Like, maybe at one point Eosmon was going to have a different name and Yamatoya was like "Can you name it Eosmon?" and Watanabe or someone else was like "Well, I guess there's a Greek goddess". Though I admit the cicada is one of the symbols for Aurora (Eos's Roman counterpart), so I guess the design is not
that far off (even if the only similarity to a butterfly is that both are winged insects). But now I'm curious if we'll get an Auroramon as a counterpart to Eosmon, like we got Rasielmon for Raguelmon.
Anyway, that wouldn't be the first time Yamatoya has done something like this, as I just learned from Japanese Wikipedia.
Keeper Knight from
ToQger has a weapon named after the horse
Just a Way, who is Eos Mon's father. And apparently there are also references to race horses in
Ojamajo Doremi (attack names),
IXION Saga DT (most main characters), and
Saint Seiya Omega (two characters, and the attack "King's Emblem").
Anyone knows if he has already referenced
Calibore in his work? Because if I'm remembering correctly what I found this week, that is his favorite horse. (Inb4 we get a Calibomon next time he works on
Digimon)
