Digimon Card Battle is back with episode 30!

This week Digimon Card Battle features the first match we've seen that includes cards from Booster Set 6 Double Diamond!




Another match with Booster Set 6 means more potential to see cards early!

Before the match they go over some of their cards and other details.

This time the match is between Sayaka and Maguro.





And after the match we get previews of a new card during the post match housekeeping (going over products, etc.)

From Booster Set 6 it's Alphamon, drawn by longtime Digimon designer As'Maria. And from elsewhere in the episode it's SaviorHackmon and option card Fly Bullet, both of which have some really nice art.

Of course, if you watch the episode there might be more cards from the upcoming booster...


They also show off a secret...

Alphamon is actually panorama art with the Omegamon X card from Booster Set 5. Booster Set 5 had a number of card panoramas featuring various versions of Omegamon, and they had fit one in there for Omegamon X also, just not revealing it as such until now.

The 1st Anniversary Card Catalog. The link to this is already active on the Card Game site, and it appears to be a card game player census. The idea is to figure out where people started with the game, how they build decks, what effects they like to use, etc. to figure out where things are a year into the game.

It looks like they plan to run it until June 3rd, with details to be shown on July 30th.

But one thing to be questioned. Why do they put X Antibody emblem in Alphamon card but not in ClavisAngemon card?
What's happening here, Bandai?

Or they want to change ClavisAngemon status to a regular non X Antibody natural carrier digimon?

A natural carrier can just be a regular mon depending on the setting, dracumon isnt being counted as an X-mon either
Its not that weird to see them mix and match both settings, though (iirc in Rearise only specific Dorumons get to pass X-Antibody shields)
They could print a dracumon/ClavisAngemon later that has it

Yeah this is really interesting. Unless there’s a mistake somewhere to explain how this doesn’t add up, it implies a secret Secret Rare? Or another rarity similar to a Secret Rare. Should be interesting when we get the card list tomorrow.

They probably want to introduce the X Antibody mons (with the emblem) and Alphamon (beside Omegamon) is the right digimon to start with.

Alphamon which is announced like that in a random way is surprising, I would have thought that he would be entitled to his own Booster Set.
What is still possible however, there remains Alphamon Ouryuken.

The Omegamon/Alphamon rivalry always makes me smile, it's one of the most iconic of the franchise and yet the only thing that comes close to a duel between these two Digimon that we had is a quick exchange of blows in Adventure Tri.

The art is gorgeous, however.

The Babies revealed to be PetitMeramon and Tsunomon reminds me of just how few Babies there are that we're probably going to see a lot of repeats.

Woah, Alphamon straight out of left field like that. We're still missing a lot of cards from the Black side of things in this Set so I assume Dorumon will be there as well. That leaves us with what, only Examon and Magnamon left from the Royal Knights?

I mean, this is the right time. I don't see we'll have another movie involving Gabumon Kizuna because it's not a regular evolution. A "Last" movie for Digimon Adventure: will not be anytime soon. Let's hope ReArise do him justice.

It was going to happen sooner or later, but it's nice to finally see Alphamon show up. Love that it's a continuation of Omegamon X's art from the previous set, and it's a really interesting card at that. It's attack stun effect from Security is neat and brings to mind some immediate examples like LordKnightmon decks since they love flooding the board, and it's Memory effect seems really useful even if you aren't using the power boosting effect since it just gives you free Memory for other cards.

Fly Bullet seems perfectly serviceable. Shares the same Main Effect as Hell's Gate from BT-4 despite being slightly more expensive, but between the Musketeers being able to play this for free, the other two Musketeers allowing use of it in Red and Black decks, it having a generally better Security Effect then Hell's Gate, and some niche interactions like Dracmon from the Starter Decks being able to retrieve Fly Bullet from the Trash, there's plenty of reasons for the card to see play.

If I recall correctly in Digimon Chronicle manga, Dorumon was a Digimon whose evolution was locked behind a wall, and X-antibody was what actually allowed it to break that wall and evolve to the next level, with the help of Protoype Interface. That manga didn't explicitly stated other "natural carriers" to even have X-antibody, and the only time they were suspected to have X-antibody was when they were introduced as Red Frame Digimon in Hyper Coliseum, but that was more-so because they were Digimon from the New World not because they had X-antibody. Cause even Dexmon was a Red Frame and it is neither a Digimon nor does it have X-Antibody.

Anyways, I am kinda happy they are removing the X-antibody status from all the natural carriers except Alphamon of course. This will mean those Digimon will now get more representation in other media and actually make them similar to all the other Digimon already existing, and not just a special "natural carrier"

That's not what they're doing. They simply hadn't introduced x antibody as a mechanic yet. If clavisangemon, dracmon, and the others get future cards they'll be x anti body Digimon.

Digimon masters tags all the natural carriers in their game with having the x antibody.

Rearise tagged dorumon and his babies as x carriers, but only the ones added *after* they introduced the x mechanic.

And being natural carries haven't stopped them being used before. Most of them have been used in in most media. They just tend to ignore standalone ones like metalphantomon and he was used recently in the anime anyway. Ones that have full lines tend to get used in everything and Gaiomon is pretty much the most over used partner Digimon in the franchise being the partner Digimon of about 12 main characters.

We will have to wait and see actually. Also bringing Masters into this is a pretty bad idea cause that game isn't fully monitored by Bandai, they just got the rights to Digimon and do whatever they want, I mean who considers TyrantKabuterimon as Burst Mode when it has it's own evolution line?

Also even in ReArise it's only Dorumon that is "natural carrier" the other natural carriers aren't even considered X-Antibody YET. And that's why I said we will have to wait and see, it's not really weird if they do a retcon of the natural carriers, cause that will allow them to potentially make X-antibody versions of the previously considered natural carriers and I would die to see them. Cause I really don't like the concept behind natural carriers.
